Crest View Events Space – Can’t Beat This Venue for Any Celebration

From the moment we started planning our daughter's wedding, we knew finding the perfect venue would be crucial. As the father of the bride, the pressure was on to come through. After exploring several options in the Kansas City metro area, we stumbled upon Crest View Events, and it was a discovery that made all the difference.
Location & Accessibility: Located in the Kansas City metro area, Crest View Events is convenient and accessible. Its prime location made it easy for our local and out-of-town guests to find and enjoy. The abundance of nearby lodging options was a huge relief for our traveling guests, many of whom appreciated the short commutes to and from the venue.
Capacity & Layout: Crest View comfortably accommodated our guest list of over 200 people. The spaciousness of the venue meant everyone could enjoy the celebration without feeling crowded, a crucial factor in our venue selection process.
Versatility & Weather Preparedness: With an outdoor wedding planned for September 29th, we were aware of Kansas City’s fickle weather. Crest View's covered facilities and indoor options provided peace of mind, knowing that rain or shine, the event could proceed beautifully.
Catering Flexibility: While Crest View had a list of trusted vendors, the ability to bring in our caterers was a standout feature. This flexibility allowed us to personalize the menu to reflect the bride and groom's tastes, making the event more special and unique.
Child-Friendliness: As a family that treasures the joy and liveliness kids bring to celebrations, finding a kid-friendly venue was non-negotiable. Crest View's expansive outdoor areas offered a safe and enjoyable environment for children to play, which was greatly appreciated by us and our guests with families.
Amenities: Parking was plentiful and conveniently located. The dance floor was a hit – large enough to accommodate our enthusiastic dancers and equipped with an excellent sound system for both live and recorded music.
Ambiance & Beauty: The transformation of the old Crest View Dairy farm into an event space is nothing short of breathtaking. Its rolling meadows, scenic lake, and the rustic charm of its pergola created a picturesque backdrop for our photos and memories. The bride's cottage added a touch of elegance and convenience, offering a serene space for preparation and relaxation. You owe it to yourself to visit the farm and see for yourself before you make a final decision. It’s amazing!
Service: The staff at Crest View Events were exceptional. Their professionalism, attention to detail, and dedication to making our vision come to life were evident throughout the planning process and the event itself. Hal, the owner is a great guy and Lolo, the lady that works closely with you is wonderful and made sure everything met the bride’s expectations.
In summary, Crest View Events Space is more than just a venue; it’s a comprehensive experience that caters to every need and goes beyond to ensure a memorable event. Our daughter's wedding was not just a success; it was a fairytale day, thanks to the stunning setting and superb service provided by Crest View. For anyone seeking a venue in the Kansas City area, l can’t recommend Crest View Events highly enough – it’s an absolute winner!

Beautiful Country Setting Close to the City - Highly Recommend!

My wedding was a dream come true at Crestview Dairy Farm. The day was perfect and evening more fun than we could have imagined. After our wedding ceremony in the rustic barn, we all retired to the reception area at the Lake. The tent we selected was beautiful and just the right size. We had a full dinner buffet and DJ that played music all evening. The guys even had fun taking turns trying to catch fish with the fishing poles that were provided. I would recommend this venue to any bride looking for a beautiful country setting close to the city.

We finally found our wedding spot!

After months of visits at outdoor wedding locations, some as far as two houses away, we saw the new Crestview Dairy site on the knot.com. After watching the videos we arranged to see it the next weekend. We entered the venue between two gigantic pillars and surrounded by enormous gardens on both sides. 300 feet away we saw Crestview lake below us in the middle of a large valley. There is simply nothing to compare to it and we cant wait to get married there next April.

    Above and Beyond Service

We really wanted someplace special to get married that was outdoors. Crestview had four totally separate outdoor locations all surrounded by landscaped rolling countryside. The crew was amazing getting it set up exactly the way we wanted. The day of the wedding there was rain in the forecast so they put up a tent by the lake and the deck which has a 21’ roof. The whole thing was so fun and the scattered showers weren't a problem anymore. Thanks Again Hal, Amy, and Peter!!

    Beautiful Venue

I was best man for my brothers wedding at Crestview Lake. The lake is surrounded by acres and acres of rolling hills and beautiful trees. At night the deck lights up like some far away castle that reflects on the water. It was truly spectacular.

    Amazing experience!

By the time our wedding ceremony began last August my husband and I wanted to have our week long honeymoon at the Crestview Dairy instead of Mexico!! One reason? The fishing at Crestiew lake and the views from the bridal cottage which we rented for the night of the rehearsal dinner. If you want an outdoor wedding on a special estate this is the only place in town. Also the entire staff and the caterer were excellent.

    Amazing venue

We got married on October 21, 2022, which was a Friday so we were able to have our rehearsal there on Thursday and spend the entire day there on Thursday setting up, which was absolutely amazing and so nice that we were allowed to do that. We did not have a wedding coordinator because it was just out of budget which the owner of the venue did not like but it was not something we could afford so it was just me (bride) in charge of everything which I did not mind doing.

For my review I will start with the things I loved.

The setting of the venue was absolutely breathtaking. It was beyond beautiful and made all my dreams come true. I loved that we had all the possibilities throughout the property to sneak away and do sunset photos. I loved that the tent had lights throughout so that we did not have to worry about not seeing our guests when the sun went down.

Now onto the things I did not love.

I didn't love that it was requested for all of our vendors to come out to tour the property because that is just not feasible.

I did not love that we were told "we could stay until the cops come" but at 11:00pm we were told we had to clean up and it was time to go.

I didn't love that we were told we had free rain to do really whatever we wanted but everything I suggested was told no I couldn't do that.

I didn't love that the dance floor and the dj was so far away from the head table (because we could not arrange it to be close), that the microphone kept cutting out during speeches.

I didn't love that we had to spend two hours cleaning all the tables under the tent because they were filthy and looked as they had never been cleaned. The picnic tables that we were given to use were very clean but the tables under the large tent were very dirty.

I did not love that our guests had to park so far away because they were "reseeding". It all of our guests could have been shuttled in then it wouldn't have been a problem but that wasn't the case. I feel that since it is a parking lot and the busiest time for weddings is the fall the guests should not have to park that far away. I just feel as if they were not fully prepared for us to have a wedding there, but we did and it was perfect just some minor hiccups that were frustrating along the way.

I did not love that my our wedding party, and vendors could not park closest to the reception area and had to park in the back with our other guests even though they got to the venue at 8am and was not in the way of anybody.

I didn't love that my groom did not have a place that was nice for them to get ready for the biggest day of his life. The venue uses the "grooms space" as an office as well so there was paperwork all over the table so I had our photographer take them to the loft area above the barn so the pictures were better.

Overall those are just little things that stuck out to me over the year and a half that I was planning our wedding. I would book this venue even knowing all of these things, it would have just been nice to be aware of everything that we figured out over that time. I absolutely love this venue and would still choose it over all the other venues we looked it. It doesn't compare to the other venues in the area, in my opinion.

    Crestview Dairy Events's reply:

    Brooklyn,
Sorry for my delays in responding. We didn’t see this back when you posted it.
I am very happy that your rehearsal, your ceremony and your reception “made all your dreams come true”. I also agree that “it doesn’t compare to the other venues in the area, in my opinion”.
I also think all your criticisms were constructive and worth a detailed response. When you see some of the fixes, we are making I’m hoping you will consider a 4.8 instead of 3.8.
    1. Our “selected vendors list” is a very valuable tool to our couples and their wedding planners if they have one. Based on past experience, we simply refuse to meet any vendor for the first time the day of the event. Trust me, this is to protect our guests and us from surprises. Quality vendors totally understand that rule and they only have to meet us once. Also, keep in mind that if the buffet line is one hour long and the tacos are cold, it’s our review at stake, not the vendors. In this regard, Lolo can be very helpful on choosing vendors for you to talk to.

    2. We are not event planners, or wedding coordinators. That is not our business, and we don’t have the staff to do that. However, since our venue is 31 acres with multiple ceremony sites, someone has to plan out where, when and how the guests get where they are supposed to. For 200 + guests, that’s a big job. The event planner is our boss on the day of and we really appreciate what they do.
However, you gave me a good idea for events on a tighter budget. If they don’t have a wedding planner, we will attach a day-of-event form they can submit 30 days before hand. This can be filled out and signed by a friend or family member that plans to help out. We have several examples forms to choose from. This will, at a minimum, have the schedule, including whatever you need from us and the vendor details and arrival times. This means everyone involved knows what’s supposed to happen and when.

    3. For the “until the cops come” statement, I apologize. That’s when we first started, and I didn’t know about all the permitting rules in both Kansas City and Lee’s Summit. However, for bonfires at Crestview Lake, we can be a bit more flexible.

    4. I’m not sure what else you couldn’t do, but as venues go, we certainly have the most options for everything.

    5. We do have some electrical and other constrains as to where the DJ can setup their PA system, especially for 200 guests. If the DJ equipment was cutting out, he won’t be back. Also, he should have used our single PA speaker and Mic for your toasts. This can sit wherever you want it. Sorry about that.

    6. I agree the rectangular tables need to be perfectly cleaned. To improve in that area, we plan to have a separate set of tables for each location and store them squeaky clean after each event. Also, the guest sometime leaves two-sided tape on the tables, which creates a mess.

    7. One reason our venue is “absolutely breathtaking” is we don’t pave our 5 acres parking lot. In fact, we maintain all of our lawns to golf-course standards. However, this summer during the worst drought in Jackson County’s history, we had to re-seed twice. Sorry about that. In the future, we will: i) Rotate the location so we don’t have to re-seed during our fall season and, ii) Use the hayride and school bus to shuttle people if they choose.

    8. We do have specific parking for people who can’t walk for any reason. And we can deliver them straight to the ceremony location as another option. Regarding the parking for everyone else, you gave me another good idea. Moving forward, we will reserve the closest area (row 1) for the bridal party, the family and the vendors only.

    9. As it is our “groom’s clubhouse” is already 920 square feet, with its own bathroom, a big TV, a pool table, a ping-pong table and dart board. However, on an event day, there should be nothing visible from our office next door, which is behind the curtain. That was my fault, sorry. The good news is that next season, we are moving our office so the entire building 2,200 square feet will be available to the groomsmen. (We will also use it for small parties).

Anyway, thanks again for your input. If you agree with my changes, I’m hoping you will give us the benefit of the doubt to raise your 3.8 to 4.8.

    Thank you,
    Hal
