Leila was unbelievable to work with in preparation for my wedding. Because of the pandemic, I wasn't sure that I was going to be able to get my dress before my wedding. She was so flexible and easy to work with throughout the process. Even though there were only a few alterations that she needed to make, she did them with precision and I felt beautiful in my dress on my wedding day. Thank you Leila! -

I cannot express enough just how much my experience with Leila at CCB added to my wedding process. Leila is incredibly professional, timely, detail oriented, communicative, and INCREDIBLY talented. She added so much joy and love to my wedding preparation process. Her favorite thing to say is that the dress fitting/ making/ alteration process is a dialogue, and so she listens and encourages you to speak your mind, all with the goal of making sure every bride feels confident and beautiful on their day. COVID-19 derailed my original wedding plans, including the plans for my original dress. In a matter of weeks, Leila stepped in, designed a custom gown from scratch, had several fittings with me, and had my perfect, unique dress ready before my wedding day. She also made me and my then-fiance custom masks and also tailored my then-fiance's suit. On top of that, she framed her sketch of the gown and signed it for me to keep as a keep sake. I have that beautiful sketch hanging in my bedroom as I type this. I had no idea when I started wedding planning that my alteration specialist was going to be one of the best parts of my wedding, and yet here we are. I received so many compliments on my custom gown, I felt like a queen on my day, and the dress will forever be one of my favorites. Thank you for everything, Leila! -

Absolutely Incredible
If I could give 10 stars to Leila at Curvy Custom Brides, I would. My biggest fear with my wedding dress was having to change my weight or body to have the dress look the most flattering. Leila is not only incredibly talented, but she makes you feel comfortable during an uncomfortable and stressful time. She has so many helpful and creative ideas to make any dress unique to you. She was super easy to contact and was always willing to make you feel as comfortable as possible. I would like to add that Leila makes completely custom bridal gowns. Had I found Leila and Curvy Custom Brides prior to purchasing my wedding dress, I would have had her help design a custom look for me. Again, she is incredible and does everything in her power to make sure your wedding dress is what you’ve always dreamed of. -

I can not push you enough to go and hire Leila to work on your dress. She treats it (and you) like a queen and makes time to not only get acquainted with your dress and the way it fits your unique body but also takes time to get acquainted with you and who you are. She is reasonably priced and is SO beyond kind and encouraging! Please please go right now and book her to work on your wedding dress - you will not regret it! -

I cannot say enough good things about Leila at Curvy Custom Bride!!! I found her after buying a wedding dress I liked a lot but didn't love just yet. It was just a *little* too simple. I kept envisioning taking the back off and replacing it with lace. Another seamstress had told me it was impossible, but Leila wasn't scared to take on the challenge!
From the minute I got on the phone with Leila, I felt so reassured that my dress and I were in good hands. She listened to my ideas, walked me through her plan, helped me pick out THE PERFECT lace--and finessed every detail until my dress far surpassed my hopes for what it could look and feel like. She made the dress fit like a second skin, made sure I could dance in it, and even made a custom veil that matched my dress!
I felt so happy and confident on my wedding day, and when I look back at photos, I just keep thinking that the dress was the second best decision I made about that entire day (first best decision was my husband). It made me feel beautiful, not because I was dressed up but because I looked so much like myself.
Leila's not only crazy good at making every seam perfect; she's also patient, caring and understanding. Every visit to her felt like a little bit of therapy to recover from the stress of wedding planning. Her calming presence was the antidote to wedding planning anxiety. -

I bought a dress off the rack at David's Bridal and took it to Leila at Curvy Custom Bride for alterations. Her office is filled with empowering and body positive imagery and has a cozy vibe. I could tell from the custom pieces she was working on that she had an immense amount of talent. She was also funny and friendly and makes sure you feel completely comfortable. Dress alterations can be a very uncomfortable experience, especially if you are insecure, and Leila really makes you feel like she's a friend you can trust to make sure you look perfect. You couldn't even tell where my dress had been altered, yet it fit me perfectly after just two appointments (although she does offer more appointments). I waited until almost the last minute to find somewhere to take my dress and CCB was recommended to me by a friend who had just gotten married. The parts of my dress that needed to be altered were covered in lace, which Leila carefully removed and replaced to make the dress look just how it should. My only complaint is that I wish I had seen her custom dresses before I bought mine, so definitely check her out for the whole wedding dress shopping experience. -

Leila is the best!
Enhancing and fitting the dress for my wedding was one of the high points of the entire wedding experience, thanks to the amazing Leila! As a much older bride, I didn't want a full-blown wedding gown, so I purchased a simple bridesmaid dress that needed to be fitted. I also wanted to add a little embellishment to make it a bit more "special." Leila and I started with a conversation about what I had in mind, and from there she worked her magic to translate my vague ideas into a vision for a dress that was perfect for me, our venue and the occasion. She located this stunning lace, placed it on the dress as only a true artist could and then fitted the dress perfectly to my figure. She even created an infrastructure for the dress that I couldn't locate in any store and a headpiece that added just the right finishing touch. The entire time, she treated me with warmth, humor, patience and professionalism, so much so that I was actually sad when I picked up my dress, because I didn't want our time together to end. We had become friends! Leila made me feel special and beautiful while we were together, and especially on my wedding day. I could not recommend her more! -

Finding the perfect wedding dress is a very personal experience- asking a stranger to chop up said wedding dress in hopes of making it fit perfectly is VERY personal. From the moment I met Leila, I knew I was in caring, capable, wonderful hands. She took her time at every appointment, no detail was too small, and she made me feel SEEN. it wasn't about the dress, it was about ME in the dress. I'm honestly getting a little emotional just typing out my experience months later, but honestly, I do not think I would have had the confidence I felt on my wedding day if it wasn't for Leila. She sculpted my dress to fit me in ways I never thought possible and refused to settle for "okay". My time spent at my dress fittings were filled with laughter and excitement. It was easy to see the passion she has for her craft as well as the professional level of skill she brings to the table. She even helped me pack my dress to ensure it traveled to our destination wedding perfectly. Don't go to anyone else for you alteration or custom needs! -

Leila was amazing! After my first seamstress fell through, I made a last minute appointment with Leila and she made everything so easy! My dress was absolutely gorgeous and felt like it was made for me. Leila even customized my store bought veil to give it a more vintage look! I would highly recommend Curvy Custom Bride to any bride-to-be! -

Leila at Curvy Custom Bride did a wonderful job at making my very loose and baggy wedding dress into the perfect fit! She truly makes you feel very comfortable and is very patient with every step of the process. I was very worried when my wedding dress arrived and it just wasn't the same as when I first tried it on. The love and excitement was all gone. I also was very worried if someone would be able to handle all of the beading and the boning that my dress had. Leila made sure every request was taken care of and patiently listened to my ideas and also recommended some great things as well. If you want your wedding dress to fit you like a glove or any outfit that needs alterations Curvy Custom Bride is definitely where you should go! I will definitely be reaching out to Leila for any future alteration needs! -
Stephanie Sent on 07/03/2018About a month before our Engagement party, I was frustrated by subpar quality dresses and limited options to achieve my Grecian vision for the party. I knew even the dresses I found, two from sites that entice, but deliver junk, were mirages. So, I took my ideas to Leila Bretón, a very talented and very busy seamstress. She and I sketched my dress from elements of these into the utter gorgeousmess that resulted. She was very busy with June weddings already but had me on her books for a wedding gown consult anyway and somehow made this miracle happen instead.
I was overcommitted with engagement party preparations and so I cannot convey how lovely it was to work with someone so unfailingly kind and patient and diligent as she was. Every step. Even when I wrote down the wrong apt time for our last fitting she still fit me in.
Anyone who has planned a big event knows not all people you work with along the way have your best interests in mind but she does. Leila takes your body conciousness and event vision in creative consultation and makes everything flow. I urge you entrust your special event to her. She is well worth a special trip or two to Indianapolis. She will make you feel creative, comfortable (I wore no shaping items because she made the dress fit me not vv) and flawless. Leila took both our gowns and made them look and feel like they were built just for the two of us! My new wife and I couldn't be happier with how they turned out! -

She embraced my curviness and wanted to make sure I wore them with pride! Honestly, she made me feel completely comfortable and wanted to make sure my dress was perfect. I had 3 fitting with her and she made sure to listen to my thoughts, concerns, etc. She also made herself available to me the day of the wedding to make sure my corset was done correctly. Getting a Custom Gown Made by Leila was the BEST Wedding Decision I Made
I’m a little (many months!) late in writing this review, and there’s no reason for that other than my own insane life and tendency to procrastinate. But I really need everyone to know what an amazing job Leila did for me, so better late than never, eh?! When I began thinking about what I wanted in a wedding dress last year, I found some dresses I really liked online. Of course, they were either way out of my price range, or they didn’t exist on the market anymore. Also of course, what I wanted was pretty specific and difficult to find in bridal stores at the time. I found a couple of things in stores that I probably would have been able to alter to create my desired look, but it would have cost me an insane amount for said alterations. Then, there was one dress that my mom and future mother-in-law really loved that I ALMOST bought at the end of long exhausting day of shopping, but I ended up holding off because I just knew in my heart of hearts that, despite their enthusiasm, it just wasn’t what I had really wanted for myself. So I decided to ask Leila for a consultation to discuss the possibility of having her make my dress from scratch. I wasn’t sure going into it what would come of it. Commissioning a custom made dress just felt so “high dollar” and outside the realm of my simple, “chill bride” wedding. We sat down to chat about my vision for my dress though. I showed her the pictures I’d found online and talked to her about what I liked and didn’t like about those dresses. I also showed her photos of me in the dresses I’d tried on in bridal stores and talked about the pros and cons of those. She listened carefully and asked me lots of very insightful questions, helping me to get closer to the heart of my own vision. Then, she whipped out her sketch paper and started drawing as I continued to tell her my thoughts. And there it was. From her hands and beautiful brain was born my dream dress, staring up at me in grey penciled hues. I knew immediately that it was exactly what I wanted. The price she was able to offer me was only slightly more than what I would have paid after alterations for something similar retail. It was worth it to me to have my ideal dress tailored specifically for my unique body from the start rather than spending thousands on something I only kind of liked and then paying hundreds more to have it ripped apart and rebuilt to suit me. So we began the process of hand selecting fabrics, taking measurements and building the shape of the dress on my body. Through every step of the process I got to feel like my own fashion designer collaborating on a precious runway design—except that my precious runway design was flowy and comfy and had pockets!! Leila made the whole process so easy and fun. She listened well, lended her valuable expertise and never ever tried to sway me from own vision. Instead she helped me realize it. And what came of it was my ideal dress which fit me perfectly in every way. (Leila really is the queen of fit!) Getting married was awesome, but I’ll be real—the process of getting to that day was mostly very stressful and painful for me. Lots of drama and mishaps and other people telling me what they thought I needed to do. Except for my dress. That was the one piece that was all my own. And Leila made that process such an incredible journey for me that I will forever treasure in my memories. Deciding to buy a custom made dress for my wedding day was by far the BEST wedding decision I made—other than choosing to marry my awesome husband of course. :) -

Laney Sent on 03/18/2018I bought a non traditional wedding dress on a website that was “off” in the bust area. Leila did an amazing job fixing it up for me. It wasn’t quite right the first fitting and she had no problems at all readjusting it and it was perfect at the final fitting. My dress was steamed, baggged and ready to go and it looked amazing!!!!!

Brides, go to this talented woman to have your wedding dress altered!! I know it’s scary to take your dress to someone, and I did my research for mine. Leila formed my couture gown to my body in just 3 weeks. And it was at least a size too small for my body going in to the fitting. Christine Sent on 03/20/2018Leila was incredible. I booked her on a rec from a neighbor. She knows wedding dresses to a science. She took my precious Maggie Sottero dress that I bought 4 sizes too big at a sample sale and custom fitted it to my body. It was nerve racking to make adjustments like that with all the beading, but she did an excellent job in reattaching it. We decided to sew in cups which was an excellent idea. My dress fit like a glove and I felt very confident in it. Most girls my size might avoid a mermaid cut dress, but I rocked it thanks to Leila. She was very kind and we did 4 fittings, which is exactly what you should do. With Leila, I feel like I've found a friend for life and a great local person to rely on if I need hemming done or anything custom made. Maggie Sent on 03/15/2018I had originally planned for Leila to help me design a wedding dress but life (in the form of a baby boy) changed our wedding plans. Leila was willing to change course and did a wonderful job altering a non-maternity wedding dress I bought online to fit my 8 months pregnant body and add some details to make the top fit the way I wanted. I ended up with a dress that fit perfectly and is one of a kind!
