    Wonderful service!

    The entire process with the Marriott was really smooth and easy! Rebecca, the event coordinator, was so friendly and easy to work with - not to mention patient as she answered thousands of my questions! It was an amazing experience and I can't thank her and the entire Marriott staff enough for the amazing job they did!

    Choosing the Marriott was an easy decision for our wedding with its proximity to the church and the amenities it provided to guests. We had the opportunity to work with Christie and she was outstanding! Planning a wedding from out of state is not easy but she was incredibly flexible and I was impressed with our ability to plan much of the wedding via phone and email. When we were able to meet in person, the professionalism, kindness, and desire to make this event perfect was incredibly relieving! We had picked a very difficult weekend for our wedding with 2 other large events occurring at the hotel. However Christie was incredibly hospitable and assisted us in so many ways with having such a large number of guests. My husband and I could not have been happier with the outcome of our event. Leading up to it Christie was wonderful, but the night of our wedding was above and beyond what I had ever anticipated! It was so comforting to see her face at the reception and know that she was there to make the night such a success. I was so impressed with her dedication as well as the other staff! Every staff member we came in contact with that night were absolutely FABULOUS! They truly made our night memorable and perfect!
    As for the venue itself, it is perfect for a wedding, especially if you have a large amount of people from out of state, or out of the country, as we did! It is extremely nice to have guests be able to walk upstairs after a fun night rather than worry about transportation.
    The venue was beautiful and worked so well to with a cocktail hour and reception!

    The Marriott was such a beautiful place to have our wedding reception. They helped us along the way and we're very thoughtful on our special day.

    We had our ceremony/reception elsewhere but most of our guests as well as my groom and I stayed at the marriott on our wedding night. The marriott was very easy to work with and very accomodating to our needs. We stayed in the hospitality suite and it was perfect.

    Maureen and Christie at the Marriott Downtown Des Moines were nothing short of amazing to work with. They made this entire process easy and fun, and very much helped eliminate some of the stress of planning. The pricing was straightforward and we were given an estimate anytime something changed. There were no surprises and we really appreciated that. I would highly recommend them to anyone planning an event for anything!

    Dulcie and her staff at the Marriott were wonderful! Everything was done for us. We didn't have to do any decorating. We just handed everything over to them and they took care of it all! The ballroom looked absolutely gorgeous! The staff working the night of were awesome! The food was great! I would highly recommend using the Marriott! The price was great! You get awesome value.

    The Marriott was a pleasure to work with for our cocktail hour and wedding reception. Rebecca is the event coordinator we worked with and she was always responsive to my e-mails and questions. The food was spectacular and they did a great job with all of the décor. Between my florist and the Marriott, they handled making the place beautiful. I was able to send various decorative items along with a note / picture of how I wanted them used, and they handled everything from there. It was also very affordable considering there is no rental fee and linens and some table settings are included. I would recommend the Marriott to anyone looking for a ballroom reception and not interested in hiring a wedding planner. Rebecca is great to work with and really takes care of it all for you!

    We had a wonderful experience planning our recent wedding reception at the Marriott downtown. Everyone we worked with was professional, helpful and had a genuine desire to make our day perfect. They were willing to work with us to create the experience that was special to us. Everything went very smoothly during our reception; we didn't worry about a thing. The pricing for some things seems high, but it was worth it for the convenience. We would definitely recommend this location for your next event!

    We had our guests stay here after our wedding. We had a good experience working with them and they offered my husband and I a very nice room on our wedding night. They were very helpful with passing out our welcome bags to our guests as they came.

    Bad Wedding Block Experience

    We used this hotel for our wedding block, and it was a stressful experience from start to finish. It took a couple months to book the block and get the booking link. They have you do a "run of the house" block, which means they can choose whether your guests are in kings or queens so families of 4 cannot book just one room. They did allow us to change this, but not without some stress. We reached out a few times about receiving our concessions (free room for us, parking, etc.) and were ignored. Finally the night before check-in I got ahold of someone and they acted like it was our fault nothing was set up for us. They were rude to our guests at check-in, including my fiancé (now husband). They told me we had to stay in the same room that my MOH and I stayed in the first night, then upon check-in they said we would have to change rooms. They let us stay in the same room after I complained that that was what we had planned for, but there was no housekeeping that weekend, so our bed was unmade for our wedding night and our sheets were the same my MOH and I had slept in the night before. They offered clean sheets, but we would have had to change them ourselves after our wedding. I also had to check out and check back in to my room the morning of our wedding. Our block rate was very reasonable, but it was very disappointing to receive this treatment on our wedding weekend.

    We are supposed to have our wedding brunch at Marriott this upcoming Sunday. It's now Wednesday, and we have zero details figured out. We paid our deposit months ago, and have called and emailed Marriott multiple times since then, on a near weekly basis. Every time, we get redirected to the same person, despite explaining her unresponsiveness for the past few MONTHS. We finally escalated things by calling the corporate office and by having our coordinator call and email. When the employee did finally call us back, she told us she "never received" our multiple emails or voicemails. At this point, we have only received the answer to one of our questions. I'm left scrambling to figure out details last minute because she refuses to answer our questions in a timely manner. She has not provided us with a seating layout, an invoice for the meals ordered, any answer to our question of whether we need to make place cards (and now it's too late to order them, so I'm left having to make them on my own - GREAT), what drinks will be available, etc. Disappointed is not a strong enough word to describe how I feel with the lack of service we've received. At this point, she has been rude enough to us on the phone that we are afraid to keep asking questions or pushing her for our invoice or other details, since she has clearly demonstrated in the past that she will flat out ignore us if we inconvenience her in any way. This is, of course, not to mention the blatant lying. I expect when I plan an event somewhere, that I will have at least one meeting with the employee planning it, to ensure that everything will be set up how I want and adhere to my vision for the event. I have never once had a meeting with anyone from Marriott, nor is there time to schedule one now. I can say with confidence that this brunch will not be what I want. I am going into this blind, with no details figured out. All I can do at this point is expect to be disappointed.
