Eilan Hotel and Spa is a beautiful one of a kind venue! It is perfect for any classy event and especially for weddings! My husband and I got engaged at the Eilan and we have been in love with the property ever since! It's a top tier venue with a romantic Italian style “villa”. The Eilan itself is very elegant and luxurious, it also provides scenic views of the Texas Hill Country as well as the city-side of San Antonio so we knew it would be able to accommodate all of our visual needs. We signed our wedding contract with Susan Stricklin, the wedding events coordinator, and she went above and beyond our expectations, she was very enthusiastic in accepting our requests for our special day! Her open communication throughout the planning process was key to us having such a beautiful day. We enjoyed a private rehearsal dinner at Sustieno inside the Eilan, which I highly recommend! The food, presentation, and the hospitality was amazing! We also had our ceremony at the hotel on the “Cielo Terrace”, the views as wells as the pictures turned out perfect! We had our cocktail hour in the foyer and wedding reception in the ballroom. Having the rehearsal, ceremony, and the reception at the same locations was the best decision we made, we say that because it was very convenient for us, our families and all our guests. After the ceremony and reception, all of our family and friends had lovely comments about the service at the wedding, amazing food and great service and drinks from the bar and hotel! There are so many to give thanks to that made our wedding day flawless! From Valet, bell hops, concierge, room service, chief, catering, bartenders and management, everyone was very helpful, professional and provided quality service! Everyone who flew in for the wedding stayed at the hotel and loved it! Thank you Eilan management, Susan Stricklin, Erica, Chief John Herdman and team for all of your efforts and value you spent making our wedding stress free and such a wonderful day!

It was such a wonderful experience, and we enjoyed every moment from the time we entered the hotel until we left. It was everything we hoped for and more! The entire staff was friendly and provided excellent service. The officiant captured our ideas of what and how we wanted to celebrate. Thank you for helping us make this a really special moment in our lives.

The venue is huge and beautiful. The banquet Director Arturo , the event manager Julie Browning and all their staff from security ,valet parking, bar tenders are very professional. They asked if you need anything they will get it for you. You feel very comportable talking to them and they were there till the party is over. They have a lot of parking spaces and can accomodate hundreds of vehicles. My guest were amazed how beautiful the venue and they way it was decorated. Thanks for all you do.More power on your business

Our event turned out spectacular. It was beyond our greatest expectations. The staff at the Eilan was fabulous and couldn't do enough to make our special day amazing. They catered to the bride and groom to make their day a lot less stressful. We couldn't have asked for a better team to work with. The hotel and team was so easy to work with that I have since had another big event there. My friends are still talking about how wonderful both of our affairs turn out. I would not hesitate to use them again!!!

My husband and I toured quite a few venues, but none of them seemed to be the right one for us. When we toured the Eilan, we knew it was the place for us! It is an elegant hotel with not only a beautiful interior and so many beautiful ballrooms but also a wonderful Italian style villa exterior. There are so many wonderful photo spots- the marble staircase, the outside staircase, an outside terrace, trolley tracks, and a gazebo just to name a few! Susan did a wonderful job working with us to make sure that all of our questions were answered and everything was ready for the wedding day. She also made sure that our meal choices were correct- we had an initial tasting and a follow-up tasting to make sure we liked the modifications that had been made (the food was so delicious!). On our wedding day, Susan and the staff at the Eilan made sure everything went according to plan. Both the guys and the girls got ready at the hotel in addition to having our ceremony in Sala Cristalla and our reception in Palio Hall. The ceremony and reception rooms were set up phenomenally! The staff did such a wonderful job and half a year later we are still receiving compliments on what a beautiful and wonderful wedding we had! We absolutely loved having our wedding at the Eilan!

We're from Houston but decided to have our wedding at the Eilan Hotel and Spa because we absolutely fell in love with the venue. We were a little weary about having a destination wedding, but the professionalism and quality of service we received in the end made the extra effort worth it.

At the Eilan, the wedding experience begins far before the ceremony even starts. The hilly drive up to the hotel is gorgeous and sets the mood. The lobby is grand. The view from the terrace they use for ceremonies is stunning, and the ballroom makes for a beautiful indoor reception. The Italian villa-inspired buildings served as a great backdrop for group photos, and the gazebos and water fountain were the perfect setting for our bride and groom portraits.

Correspondence during the wedding planning process was a little slow and frustrating at times. We had several instances where phone calls and emails went unanswered and we felt like we needed to stay on top of certain people to make sure things got done. However, everyone really pulled through during the final hour.

The hotel was very accommodating. RJ and the rest of the event staff are awesome. They made sure everything was executed smoothly and that it lived up to their promises and our expectations.

We got great compliments on the venue, the food and the wedding cake. A couple of guests even told us it was the best wedding they'd ever attended. That says a lot considering this was a destination wedding for practically everyone involved.

To say we were extremely pleased with our experience seems almost like an understatement.

    Horrible experience - read all

Before you book this beautiful hotel, I compel you to read my horrible experience. Fair warning, this review is long, but only because the list of stressful mistakes is so long.

We were given big promises and spent months planning the perfect reception. Every detail was perfectly planned and the food tasting was amazing, the chicken was to die for! I was a little hesitant when introduced to this other man who was to take over coordinating the reception instead of the catering manager that had helped me plan it, but she assured me that he was capable. Boy was she wrong.

On the day of the wedding (4/5/19), it was as if our perfectly planned schedule was tossed out the window and rude, incompetent staff replaced the helpful workers. The reception started late, which wouldn’t have been a major deal if they tried to get back on schedule. The food for the bride and groom was supposed to be plated at the head table before guests were to enter the ballroom. I have hypoglycemia and several food allergies so a special plate menu was written into the contract for me. Not only was our food not on the table, they brought me food containing the allergen more than once. The server guaranteed that the second plate brought to me was allergy friendly when it was very obvious that it was not. I went into the kitchen twice to find my food to no avail. Eventually while crashing from low blood sugar, a GUEST went to the restaurant downstairs and got me a piece of salmon to tie me over until my plate was found. While the brides food fiasco was occurring, it also came to my attention that the guests were not immediately released for dinner. After me asking the men in charge 3 different times if the guests had been released for dinner and being told that they had, the staff finally realized that no guests had been released. Then the man that was supposed to be in charge was nowhere to be found an hour into the reception and the banquet captain had no clue what was going on and had obviously not been given our perfectly planned schedule.

They also messed up the serving of the cake, only offering one of the three flavors. The incompetent staff brought me the regular cake instead of our special one (which I was too busy to realize) and I was sick that entire next week. The bar staff was incredibly rude and disappeared when the line started to back up. The bar contained liquor when they were instructed to only have the specified beer and wine. Our ride for the sendoff at the end of the reception was not there and the staff had no clue what we were talking about. The staff did not allow us to take any gifted alcohol back to our suite. Finally, to top it all off, they overcharged us by over two THOUSAND dollars by counting the number of seats instead the number of plates consumed (dinner was buffet style, not everyone ate due to illness, etc) and then attempted to “make it right” by only giving a small portion back for the allergen mistakes. They did not right the wrongs that were done and admitted to be at fault for causing the bride to direct the whole reception and for other mistakes (they also messed up and overcharged for the bridesmaids catered lunch). Without the bride and the dj, the reception would have fallen apart.

So if you are prepared to direct your own reception, be charged for people who do not eat, and want a reception with no plan or schedule, Eilan is the hotel for you.
I would love to give zero stars, but that is not possible. Also, it is now 2 weeks after the wedding (4/17/19) and I am still trying to resolve issues with the Eilan staff.

Best of luck with your future weddings!
