    The Perfext cozy Venue!

This place was everything we could have dreamed of! We did our own decorations and set up but Robert was so helpful and responsive during the services!

El Zocalo was the easiest venue to talk to and they were excited to have our wedding at their wonderful location. We thought the simple, beautiful background of El Zocalo fit our needs perfectly. I would recommend that if you are doing an evening wedding to set up a string of lights or two, we did 2 sets that were 100 ft long and it worked PERFECTLY. The venue was loved by all of our guests, they had PLENTY of room for our catering, our guests, the DJ and even a room for the bridal party to get ready in. I would recommend this venue for weddings and other events :) The staff was amazing! We had the ceremony AND the reception in ONE location, which made our guests day and my day much easier.

    A relaxed experience

Hiring El Zócalo is a choice I’m confident in! They already have a really cute space and they provide chairs and tables. The director is easy to work with and cares about my wedding!

Great Venue - Terrible Bar Vendor

I want to rate El Zocalo higher, as my partner and I really did love this venue – we also received many compliments from our guests who were both local and from out of state. I referred to El Zocalo as a “blank slate” to decorate and style our wedding in any way that we wanted. I had my vision for a romantic, vintage Mexican wedding. We did not use tons of décor but used the patio inside the building to drape more lights and white “papel picado” (Mexican paper party flags). One of our friend’s children referred to our wedding as the “Encanto Wedding”! When I first visited El Zocalo in early 2021 (I booked my wedding very early for our September 2022 date), there were many furniture pieces inside the building that added a nice warmth and filled up the space just a little bit. At that time, there was a whole part of the building that was still being used for offices, but that was eventually opened up and we were able to use that space on our wedding day as our “bar” area/room, which was great. I was disappointed though that most of the furniture that was around the building was put away (in the bridal / groom dressing rooms), so the rooms and spaces inside looked very bare.
The staff were always very friendly to work with, and often quite responsive. There was one issue with communication, but it did not come directly from the E.Z. staff. Just weeks prior to our wedding, I received an email on a late Friday afternoon stating somewhat unclearly that our reservation was being cancelled. This ended up being a confusion, as another person was cancelling their event which was scheduled the day after ours – but still not sure how this mistake happened, and it caused a lot of stress that night for me!
My biggest gripe with El Zocalo is that they are now contracted with one bartending/catering company (Canvas Artistry). Specifically, if you want alcohol served at your event here, you have to go with that one vendor. At least we were able to get a different caterer for food (appetizers and dinner, as well as non-alcoholic drinks). My partner and I felt that this vendor was price gouging, but we did not have any other option since we were set on having an open bar for our wedding. The owner, Herman, was at times short and rude with me when we would communicate. On the day of our wedding, we had a bartender, Nick, who was friendly and helpful. I communicated with Nick to tell him specifically which type of alcohol we wanted to purchase We bought certain drinks and quantities prior to and were told we’d be reimbursed for unopened bottles. Mid reception, after champagne was served for the toasts, Nick let us know that there were a few bottles of champagne left and asked if we wanted him to top off guests or save those bottles, and we asked him to save those. At the end of the night, my husband remembers Nick showing him several bottles of white wine that were also left unopened. After our wedding, the owner contacted me and only told me that there were only 5 bottles of wine left over, and refunded me $129, which doesn’t even add up. The bubbly was $29 per bottle which would only be about 4 bottles plus some (tax?). I have tried to contact the owner again but have not received a response. I am extremely disappointed and feel cheated. I would not recommend El Zocalo to anyone while they continue to contract with that vendor.

    Does not honor contracts

Do not use this venue !!! They do not honor contracts. Staff was helpful up until I had to cancel my wedding. Now while I am trying to pick up the peices of my life they have not refunded my "refundable" payments, after over 6 weeks I am still trying to get a refund. The only thing they will tell me for the last 3 weeks is that they are "looking into it"
