    Reception October 2019

    This was the perfect venue for our reception of 173, the food was amazing(beef rib tips, salmon, mixed vegetables, mashed potatoes entree, meatballs, spring vegetable rolls, cheese, crackers and fruit for cocktail hour) Our guest are still raving about our reception. Meagan, Director of Event Sales from the Embassy Suites did an outstanding job. We were and still are very pleased with how well everything went. Kudos To Eric, General Manager of the Hampton Roads Convention Center as I spoke and worked with him pertaining to specific details.

    Exceeded my expectations

    The Embassy Suites wasn't my first choice for my wedding, however God had other plans. Our original venue had a fire on Christmas just a few months before what was supposed to be our wedding day.
    I made a post on a message board looking for a venue and I received a message from someone at the Embassy Suites in Hampton Virginia and they had our date available but it happened to be Hampton University graduation weekend so no rooms were available.
    I felt defeated. I contacted our rep and felt like I needed to cancel my wedding all together. She made me feel assured that things would work out and I would have my dream location.
    We ended up moving my date to a different date but held our ceremony and reception at the Embassy Suites and Hampton Convention Center November 2018.

    The staff during our planning process was exceptional and I always received prompt responses even when I didn't expect one because it would be on a weekend when I sent my email full of questions.

    During wedding weekend, we had amazing staff at the hotel the entire time and service was AMAZING.

    Our banquet captain met me the morning of and introduced himself and staff and asked if we needed anything or if there was anything specific they could help with.

    I also hate banquet food! But let me tell you, this food was phenomenal. My guest had nothing but great things to say about the venue, staff and food.

    I thank all of them for making my dream weekend, a dream come true.

    Wonderful Venue

    The Embassy Suites has a beautiful ambiance anyways which was the reason we chose this venue. The services were awesome and the staff were all great to work with. I experienced no stress when dealing with this venue. It was such a peaceful and beautiful day.

    My experience was such a great one, every single server at the wedding was polite and accommodating to all my guests. They followed the itinerary and they were flexible with any last minute changes. Meagan, the event coordinator was awesome to work with. She was patient with me, she responded to my emails within an hour or so of sending them and she gave some great feedback that saved me some money in the end!

    The location was beautiful. I didn't think I would be able to afford a nice wedding, but the Embassy was reasonably priced and elegant. Meagan went above and beyond ensuring our day was perfect. Hotels/convention centers get a bad rep about food, but my goodness the chef really outdid himself! I'm still getting texts from friends asking who provided the food. (Get the grits!) I cannot recommend the Embassy enough.

    Meagan was my coordinator for my wedding! She was AWESOME! From the food tasting to the bar set-up. Maegan and her team was so accommodating! I can't stress how AWESOME her and her team was! If you looking for 1st Class service... Embassy Suites is where you want to host your event!

    We had our ceremony + reception at this location and it was absolutely beautiful. The catering team did amazing as well. I had no complaints whatssoever. Sandy was a sweetheart and genuinely cared about making our day unforgettable.

    Very Nice Experience (Wedding Wise)

    I had a venue that I wanted to use for my ceremony and reception, but the arrangement was not working out due to the size of my wedding party.

    I was staying at the Embassy anyway, so I thought I’d ask if there was any space available for a short wedding ceremony. There was, and I was in contact with Meagan Bair for the entire process. She was very accommodating, and she did her best to assist with guest needs such as wheelchair availability (although it was damaged from a flood). I did not see her during the time I was there due to time restrictions and the wedding weekend schedule, but everything we asked for was available. My ceremony was my favorite part of the day! Summers are crowded though which means a lot of unsupervised youth on various floors causing a raucous and doing mischievous things (two of my family members were hurt due to a frozen object launched from the 10th floor or higher; it burst on the table).

    Other than that, I enjoyed myself.

    Wedding2019

    The weekend we were there a fire damaged some room and a lot of people were moved to other hotels. Me being the bride accommodations were made to keep me in the hotel. very appreciative of that.

    Overall Not Worth It

    I had a great experience until about a week before the wedding.. Meagan was super responsive, professional and helpful. Then a week prior ON CHRISTMAS EVE I got charged $1,000 to the wrong card on file without notice. I spent hours on the phone and was told it would be refunded and charged to the proper card and it never was. We chose to do a host bar with the understanding that once we got close to our limit, we would be notified and could choose to increase it or switch to a cash bar. We set a $2,000 limit, signed the paperwork the night before and they had it at $1,500 limit. No big deal. Then night of, we never got notified when we did hit our limit (it was early enough in the night we would’ve increased) and they ran the bar to $2,000 anyway. The staff, while setting up decorations, continued to come in and argue with my family about what they were and were not allowed to do even though it had been previously discussed and approved by the event coordinator. Event coordinator was nowhere to be found the day of, tables we requested were not made available, room was set up differently than contracted. We had to pay extra do to a ceremony rehearsal the night before, even though setup had already been finished and doors were unlocked. I was told I could do it day of for free, but I was traditional and didn’t want to see my husband. And we were rather busy. Had missed calls and voicemails from the event coordinator DURING the ceremony about a groomsman bringing in outside alcohol (I get it, it’s not allowed. But tell my MOH or my Dad, or my husband. Don’t call the bride during the ceremony.) then immediately following our first dance, I had staff coming to me threatening to shut down the whole wedding because of it and I was left to panic. Was told I could request the staff box up our cake topper to save, then no staff had any clue what I was talking about and we had to fit the cake into the flower girls baskets, and find somewhere to keep it and it ended up getting destroyed. We had previously discussed doing clean-up the next day because the reception went until 1 A. M. And was told it was no problem, then the next day the convention center was locked and no one had a clue that we were supposed to be in there. Took over an hour of talking with staff to get someone to unlock it so we could finish clean up and retrieve our items. Meagan told us we would be called after the wedding to have a lunch meeting and discuss our experience, and we never got contacted again except to request to use our photos for advertising, which we did not approve. In the end, it ended up being a horrible experience that had tainted the memories of my wedding day forever and it was not worth saving the money we did in using this particular venue. Do not recommend.

    This was a rough one. Being that location and accommodating our large number was key, we had no option but to go with this venue. Working with the team has it's ups and downs. Many emails & phone calls took weeks for a response. The location is great and the Embassy next door is a great place for guests to stay. The price is a but much for what you get, but again we had no other option.

    I was very displeased with the very nice but seemingly incompetent events manager (Sandy Brock) at Embassy Suites. The catering order had to be constantly corrected, they double billed us (it was corrected quickly), and the bar was wrong for the first 40 minutes of the reception until they were able to get us the drinks we'd actually paid for. I would not recommend this to anyone unless they are willing to jump through hoops, or there is a new person organizing your event. The food and service at the reception were wonderful, but the ends did not justify the means.
