We were definitely the types to wonder if we needed a day-of coordinator. Our wedding was at my parents' home and we enjoyed dealing in details ourselves. But all the reviews I read said that we would find out we needed one, and we wanted to try to relieve hosting pressure on my parents. Enter Gwen of Fiddleheads and Finery. She can plan everything for you, or she can swoop in at the last minute to take care of all the details you didn't realize you even needed to think of until the week-of. Gwen did the latter for us, and she did it with a smile, ease, kindness, and confidence that put us at ease, too. Oh, that's right. I didn't want to lead people through the ceremony rehearsal myself. Nor would I have time to be setting out name cards and flower arrangements in my dress, or wiping down chairs at the ceremony site after a thunderstorm swept through, or saving the photographer's camera gear from said thunderstorm. I also wouldn't want to buy table name stands or find-your-seat easels, or replenish our stock of wedding favors throughout the night. Nor would I have the capacity to coordinate shuttle van drivers and make sure guests got where they needed to go and take care of all the other needs that popped up for guests over the course of the night. Gwen and her assistant, Mayda, took care of all of this. Knowing that someone who had supported dozens of weddings was there with an eye to filling in all the gaps that appeared was reassuring and allowed us to simply enjoy ourselves. So, do please consider heeding the advice of those who recommend a day-of coordinator even if you think you might be able to manage without, and definitely hire Gwen if your wedding is in New England. She'll be there for and with you in just the way you want her to be, and allow you to be in the moment and take advantage of all the work you have done leading up to your big day. -

Our venue required that we have a coordinator and, having run multiple large events in the past, I was skeptical of the value. I could not have been more wrong. Working with Gwen was an absolute pleasure. At each stage of our big day she went above and beyond to ensure that my husband and I were in our bubble. She handled each issue as it arose and without disrupting our day. Planning from California, we had so many questions throughout the process about vendors in Maine. Gwen was so helpful in connecting us with people in our network to help us plan the day of our dreams. I have nothing but positive things to say about Gwen. Gwen worked with me for a year from Texas to create the perfect vow renewal ceremony. Being from out of state, I knew I would need an expert to locate the best lodging, flowers, hair/makeup, dining, photographer and experiences within our budget. That's exactly what Gwen did. Our budget was small, as it was just the two of us escaping for a 10 year recommitment celebration, but Gwen managed to create a luxury experience for us, and she added details and personal touches I didn't know to ask for (such as her husband's grandparents' wedding napkins for our cake table, and a much less expensive, but much more private and more perfect wedding venue than what we were thinking). One of my favorite touches was the inn we stayed at. I fell in love with it instantly and knew if we had driven by and weren't staying staying there, I would have been upset! How Gwen knew that, I have no idea! My picky other half also liked it. He doesn't like BnBs where everyone eats at the same table, and the Norumbega provided the privacy during breakfast he likes (it was also delicious). I told Gwen that info and she found the perfect place. Our photos are gorgeous, our cake was so yummy, our officiant felt like she knew us for years! And Gwen found all these vendors for us. After our ceremony I would text her for recommendations on restaurants and she would respond immediately. You can't go wrong here! We booked most of our vendors by the time my husband and I found Gwen. But working with, and having Gwen coordinate our wedding was such a pleasure. I can't tell you how many times she came to our rescue in our planning and day of. Our mothers and many of guests made remarks after how good it was to have her around. We were in constant contact with her the month leading up to our wedding. Anytime we had a questions or needed help figuring things out, Gwen was there. We highly recommend Gwen- she puts 100 percent of her heart and more, into every task. And adds the best energy to any room!Fiddleheads & Finery Event Planning's reply:
