When I requested to come and visit the venue they responded quickly. While there they were very accommodating and worked with our budget. We did not hire them because our budget didn’t seem to work with their price but I am very satisfied with how hard they tried to meet our budget. -

User3005247 Sent on 03/16/2017Amazing. That is the best word to describe this venue. This place is beyond words GORGEOUS (Beauty and the beast- esk ballroom!) You barely need any decor due to its just natural beauty. The staff we worked with from the manager to our day of coordinator was friendly, responsive, professional, and OH SO HELPFUL. We were SOOOOO happy with this venue. My favorite part was the fact that it is a historical venue in Galveston. I didn't feel guilty at all giving our money to this organization because it was going to a great place and purpose. Lauraleigh was wonderful! We emailed A LOT, she answered all of my million questions. She would let us come look at the venue whenever it was open to get the feel and get the vision we wanted. Our day of contact was Lalon, she is the sweetest! She was patient, kind, and friendly. She helped us in anyway she could! The only complaint I had was that the venue decided to paint the DAY of my wedding, so several people got paint on their outfits... luckily it wasn't me in my dress or my groom in his suit, but at least the venue looked nice! lol -
User1632368 Sent on 05/26/2014My wedding was held at Garten Verein. My husband and I were kicking around several other venues but the search was over when we saw this place! It is "so Galveston", being that it is a lovely historic building and the architecture leaves little to be desired. We had our ceremony in Kempner Park at the pergola which was a nice site with the mature trees and defined ceremony space. Although in pictures I have seen the reception space very dressed up, we kept the decor simple because the space is so ornate and since we were going for rustic elegance this seemed appropriate. Something else that my husband and I really appreciated about the venue is that because it is only a venue you can hire every other vendor individually and create a unique wedding that suits your personality! The space is very functional, we had ~ 100 guest and the tables and people filled the space well, there was plenty of room for the stage, cake, gifts, entrance table, large buffet, and bar. The parking was sufficient for this amount of guest. The contact, Vicki, was easy to contact and answered all of our questions thoroughly and timely. With this space comes some minor complications coordinating all of the vendors and details that can easily be overlooked when not using an all in one event location. Some minor things to keep in mind is that the venue does not have an ice maker and there are limitations on what you can have for your "exit toss". This space is lovely and both my husband and I would highly recommend it to other couples who like the feel of the place!

My husband and I had our ceremony outside by the water fountain, had cocktail hour on the patio and then moved inside for the reception! It was absolutely gorgeous!! Everyone keeps talking about how amazing the venue was and how "magical" and "enchanting" it was!! The price isn't terrible for what you get; we paid around $2000 for the venue, but that ONLY included the venue. But for the magical feeling it put off, it was worth every penny!! -

Briana Sent on 04/15/2010I absolutely loved this venue when my husband and I booked it for our wedding. I also loved the fact that you can basically do whatever you want. They don't have a set list of vendors you have to use, which definitely helped on cutting costs. I would say I was 100% satisified until the DAY OF MY WEDDING when I got out of my limo and found that the building was in the process of being painted! It wasn't even like they finished part of it and made it look even or anything, it was literally white on the right side and green on the left. It looked SO tacky! I honestly wouldn't have even minded if someone would have at least tried to give me a heads up and offer some sort of compensation, but that didn't happen. My mother-in-law conforted the woman who is with the historical society about it and all she could say is that we booked it as is and there was nothing they could do for us. All I would have liked was a little acknowledgement that that was pretty crappy looking on my wedding day (and also extremely embarassing in front of all our guests)!
