  Glass Door Salon & Spa has the best hair and makeup stylist for your wedding day!

  We were fortunate enough to have Erin, the owner do our hair and makeup for the wedding. She was fantastic! I’m such a naturalist when it comes to my hair and makeup so I’m not used to getting dolled up. Erin did a great job capturing a natural makeup look, but still having enough makeup on me so the photos would look good. I also love how she did my hair in low bun. It was beautiful!

  Beautiful hair, make-up, and nails!

  I went to Glass Door for hair, make-up, and nails for both me and my wedding party. It was an incredibly easy process to book their services and they helped me create a timeline for getting ready on my wedding day. Each stylist made sure I looked exactly how I wanted and were so flexible. We got ready at the salon and were able to bring in our own snacks and drinks. They played music and put us at ease! I highly recommend them for wedding day hair and make-up.

  Initially I had only planned to get manicures and pedicures done here the day before the wedding for myself and 5 others (all of which turned out great, by the way). During that appointment I received an email from the hair/makeup artist that I had hired to come to my hotel the morning of the wedding that she may end up cancelling due to Hurricane Florence. The ladies at Glass Door overheard me talking about it and when we checked out they said they had 3 openings for hair/makeup the next day (morning of the wedding) and that even if we needed the services but couldn't tell them before they closed, to just show up the next morning and they would hold the spots for us. My initial hair/makeup artist cancelled so my 2 bridesmaids and I ended up going to Glass Door the morning of the wedding. It was a great experience - there is a bar area where you can have food and drink and the ladies got started quickly and were so accommodating. My bridal hair/makeup was by Antigona and was WONDERFUL - turned out that I liked it better than my initial trial with the artist that cancelled. I had natural looking airbrush makeup and a classic updo. With my thick hair, updos are extra work but Antigona did a great job. My hair stayed in place all day even through the gusty winds from the hurricane! I felt so special and taken care of by these ladies on my wedding day!

  What a pleasure it was to work with Glass Door Salon for our hair and makeup needs the day of my wedding! Myself, my bridesmaids, and the two mothers had the whole run of the salon all morning/early afternoon, and it was a blast! We could bring in our own music, and food and drink, so it really made the whole experience so nice and relaxing before the wedding! And of course, our hair and makeup turned out great!!

She also came to the rescue by helping us transform our white boutonnieres to pink to accommodate the cultural colors for our wedding. She was very helpful and was very attentive to our needs.   very professional service in a salon designed to cater to bridal parties. We had 9 women and it went off without a hitch. Had a great time there and had expert service. The hair styles were all different and all beautiful.

Needless to say, I was a little miffed and the salon had thought the stylist had contacted all of her clients. Well, the salon responded quickly to me and said they would have that stylist call me. Well, I got an email from her, stating she just found out she would be leaving and moving away and that she had Erin and the other staff informed of my wedding party booking. Now, when I booked, I booked to have 6 people get hair and make-up. I called the salon after receiving this email and Erin Blakley, the owner, contacted me quickly and answered my questions. I went back and met with Erin and my mom and I did a trial run and she didn't charge b/c I had already been charged for the first one. I was very appreciative of this. The day of my wedding, I changed my hair and make-up choices, but I emailed Erin w/ pictures and she was ready to go when I got there. She and all her staff that helped make my wedding party beautiful were just great & so friendly! I would recommend them to anyone!!

  Erin and Taylor and the rest of the staff at Glass Door Salon did amazing job for our wedding. The salon was conveniently located in the hotel we were staying at and right across the street from our venue. The salon was perfect with every amenity you could ask for and it was also very fun. We were able to bring drinks and snacks in while all of us were getting ready and they had fun music playing. Erin is awesome, doing hair and makeup with a broken foot! Everyone's hair and makeup turned out better than anyone expected. I even had my maid of honor say this is the first time she has had her hair done and it looked like she wanted it to look. They are affordable and do an amazing job. I would send anyone and everyone here!

  I cannot say enough good things about this salon. I used them for my wedding hair and makeup, as well as for spa treatments leading up to my wedding. The salon itself is very bright, clean, and welcoming. The staff are all friendly and professional. I had 3 facials leading up to my wedding, and it was a great experience. I am not one to pay too much attention to skin care, and the esthetician did a great job of explaining how to take care of my skin and was very gentle during my facial. I also worked with a manicurist to find the perfect nail polish color for my wedding day, even going as far as mixing two gel colors together to get my perfect shade. She was always patient with my sometimes strange requests, and gave great advise and ideas for my wedding-day manicure.
  
  The morning of my wedding, I had two makeup/hair artists from this salon work on me, my 5 bridesmaids, and my mother. They got us all completed on a ridiculously tight timeline, and the makeup and hair were flawless. I had the airbrush makeup done, and my skin has never looked so wonderful. They were very good with picking makeup colors that looked good on all my girls' different skin tones, and everyone looked beautiful.
  
  Overall, this is just a wonderful salon in general, but I was especially impressed with how well they did on my wedding day. I will most definitely be returning to this salon for more services in the future!

  Erin did my hair as well as some of the ladies in my bridal party. I loooved my hair and received a ton of compliments. She and her team were so nice and accommodating. We had 2 add-ons last minute, and she worked them in with ease. Super friendly.

  So happy with the work that Erin Blakley did. She air brushed my make-up, gave tips on how to keep it looking fresh, and did an amazing job on my hair! Price was very reasonable. Also did trial runs at half price-just to make sure we had it right! Everyone was extremely professional. Will repeat business for sure

I was nervous about looking myself with makeup and a hair makeover, but Taylor did a wonderful job keeping me calm and working me through the process.   I have to start off by saying when I started planning my wedding last year, for some reason I was so nervous as to whom I was going to be able to find to do my hair and makeup for my wedding day along with my large bridal party (seven bridesmaids, mother, sister and three attendants). I was extremely blessed to have found Erin after only visiting one other salon in the area and as soon as I met her, I knew that this was meant to be. She has such a wonderful, kind personality and she put me at complete ease throughout my trial hair and makeup process, bridal portraits and most importantly on the wedding day. She answered every question via e-mail, text message and phone call promptly and that definitely helped since I was having to plan our wedding out-of-state. On the wedding day, May 24, 2014, Erin along with two of her staff members had already arrived, set up and were waiting for us at the church (we arrived at 8AM so they were there sometime before that). I was so excited because they were able to finish everyone's hair and makeup ahead of schedule too! Everyone in my bridal party and family loved their hair and makeup and truly enjoyed the experience with Erin and her staff. My sister loved her so much that she booked Erin for her wedding as well. I would definitely recommend this salon to anyone getting married in the Winston-Salem area!

  Taylor did my hair & make up. She was great to work with, understood that I wanted to be a better version of me not unrecognizable. She did a great job! Loved the air brush make up, even ordered my own machine, hopefully I can do my make up 1/2 as well as she did.

  Erin and the team at Glass Door were incredibly flexible and professional on my big day. We had a couple extra people come in at the last minute, and they were able to get everyone in less time than anticipated, and not skimp on quality. They let us bring in food and drinks and make the experience a lot of fun.

  Erin and her team were so pleasant and easy going! Loved the environment of the salon and having space to bring snacks/drinks while we were there.

  Great team to work with but they need to get a little more organized. Their front desk seems confused when asked questions regarding services and bookings. Wedding hair and makeup services were done, and I was happy with ~70% of the work. Definitely a great deal and great location for any wedding in the downtown Winston area - salon is clean and chic. The bar for food/drinks is an amazing plus during your big day!

  I had a nail party the day before my actual wedding for all my bridesmaids, family and I. If I could give zero stars for this service I would. Absolutely horrible. My sister, Matron of Honor, asked for a French manicure in shellac. They used the white paper sheets as the tip that you can buy to do it at home and they left it on. Multiple people had to go redo their nails. My one aunt got a pedicure and they didn't even do her cuticles. Emily who did mine was the exception to the zero stars. Even the receptionist commented on how horrible some peoples nails looked and we left a phone number, but never heard a word from the owner. Would not recommend nail services.
  Makeup was great day of. After lots of confusion and them trying to raise the price on me two months before the big day everything worked out. Taylor did a fantastic job on the makeup. I would give Taylor and her helper 5 stars all the way around. I would recommend makeup service from them.

  I would like to preface this review by saying that I am not reviewing this salon's actual services, as we never got to that point. I am not sure if this salon is extremely busy or just extremely unorganized, but I had nothing but issues with them. I put down a non-refundable deposit and gave the receptionist all my information (# of bridesmaids, date, time, etc) and made an appt for a consultation. I went for my consultation, waited on Erin for 45 minutes and was only given 5 mins of her time (she actually told the person waiting in line after me that she’d be done with me in 5 mins). Although she and I had emailed back and forth 5-6 times beforehand, she had no idea who I was when I came in for my consultation and I spent the entire time going over the same info I gave the receptionist. I am planning my wedding from out of town and this was a total waste of my time, as I try to pack as much as I can into the short time I have. When trying to book her for a Sunday appt for my bridals, I left 3 messages over a week’s time period only to have NONE of them returned. Tons of pictures were being posted to Glass Door’s Instagram page, but no one could find the time to call me back. Once I finally decided to cut all ties with them and asked for my money back, Jordan (the receptionist) was more than happy to oblige and even made the comment that he couldn’t believe how unprofessional Erin had handled things. I know as the owner she is busy, but my time is valuable too and I just don’t think I should have to track her down that much – esp since they seem to pride their reputation on their wedding services. This was by far the most stressful part of my wedding planning. I am not writing this to bash Glass Door, they obviously have good reviews and their pictures show they do a decent job. I just feel like this is important info for future brides who are considering this salon. They wasted 3 weeks of my planning time. I ended up booking Updos and they are wonderful!!!
