  Accommodating

  We had multiple unique parts to our wedding and they were very accommodating. Small venue for a small wedding. The food was great.

  We had a destination wedding and wanted to have a reception back home for our friends and family. We were extremely happy with our whole experience with Golf Club of Illinois. Working with Tim was extremely easy and it really felt like he cared about us having the best experience from the beginning til the end. At the reception itself Tim and his staff were always on top of everything making sure all our needs were met. All the food was delicious from the appetizers to the meals themselves, everyone kept telling us how good their meals were. If you are looking for a place to host an event you will not be disappointed.

  Tim was fantastic to work with and was so helpful throughout the entire wedding planning process! He answered dozens of e-mails promptly throughout the year planning and was so accommodating with every request that we had. Our food was amazing and so many of our guests raved about it! You won't be disappointed here!

  What a hidden gem this place turned out to be!! The food was wonderful. The ambience perfect. The bar next to the banquet hall made it so fun!

  We got engaged in April and married in October! Accomplishing that was only possible because we found this great venue for our reception. It fit with our budget perfectly and the decor was so much nicer than your typical banquet hall. The food was also amazingly good and very accommadating (even preparing a completely different meal for one of our guests on the night of our event). We were very happy with our choice and enjoyed our celebration so much!

  Our wedding night was a hit, thanks to Tim and his staff. I had multiple meetings with Tim and countless emails and he responded to me right away almost every time. Our wedding day went by without hiccups for the most part and everything was exactly as Tim and I had discussed, minus one minor thing.   I very much enjoyed working with GCI in planning our wedding reception. They were very helpful and easy to work with--also very flexible for this scattered bride!

  I also dealt with the coordinator being fired and we were not informed, but my impression was the first coordinator just wanted us booked and didn't care about talking the details. The new coordinator worked with me not only with all the details (including perfect seating planning) but also was friendly with things we left behind and didn't come back to pick up until weeks after the wedding. The food was tasty, the price was reasonable for all that we got, the location is beautiful, and since we had over 150 people we had the "mini" bar in the room that served beer, wine and soda. As for people going into the other room for the main bar I think people liked it because if they wanted a copnversation without having to talk over the dance music there was that room. The only issue we had was the ice sculpture we had as a present from a guest was put in this room instead of the main room. But overall I was very impressed with everything involved with this location for our wedding. Great for the price!

  Golf Club of Illinois was BEAUTIFUL, and I was SO excited to have my wedding there - and a big part of that was the coordinator. She was enthusiastic and she KNEW what she was talking about Everytime I contacted her she was helpful and accomodating.
  
  Fast forward to about 6 months out - we go to visit the florist recommended by the Golf Club and we find out that the coordinator had been fired, and we had not been informed.
  
  We organize a meeting with the new coordinator, and while she was very nice, she was timid and uncertain. Once she took over, trying to get her on the phone was like pulling teeth. It wasn't that she was ignoring me, or avoiding me, it was that she was managing TWO golf clubs at the time, and was simply spread too thin.
  
  When the wedding came, I hoped that she would be familiar enough with the protocol to make sure that my event ran smoothly, unfortunately she wasn't. The DJ (Chris Vittorio of Spin Productions, and Pastor Brandyn Simmons) ran the show, and I can't say enough wonderful things about them.
  
  Additionally, the one of the bartenders was a COMPLETE menace. He was straight up RUDE (especially to the female guests), and gave everyone that came to the bar trouble.
  
  On the flip side, the Golf Club is a BEAUTIFUL venue, and the food was great, the facilities manager was great, and the waitstaff was great.

  I did like the location for the reception and it had a reasonable fee however there were some issues that I had with this vendor. We had discussed ahead of time things like making sure they don't start clearing tables before the end of the reception because I can't stand that. They did start putting out the candles on the table about an hour before the end of the reception and clearing away drinks when people were dancing. Also, we discussed that we would use their knife for the cake cutting and while the cake and we were right where we were supposed to be, there was no knife. So my husband and I stood there looking goofy waiting for a knife to cut the cake. Lastly, I tried to give the coordinator a list of the people's names with table numbers. She refused it and I did accidentally end up writting the wrong number on a couple guest's table cards. The coordinator did not have the list and so she could not help get them seated correctly. I was still outside taking pictures so I could not assist in fixing it but instead my sister had to handle the situation because the coordinator did not have the information. I would say this was an average banquet hall. And be aware that having the bar in a separate room means less people on the dance floor.
