  We had a perfect wedding day at Green Gables

  We had our cocktail hour and wedding reception at Green Gables on October 29th, 2022. The venue is absolutely stunning so no need to travel anywhere else for great newlywed photos. The Swedish meatballs at cocktail hour were an absolute hit! The dinner area is gorgeous and all our guests absolutely loved the venue. Theresa was so helpful in making sure we were ready to go and all the details and timeline of the reception flowed without missing a beat. They also set up the reception hall to our exact wishes ( and even more) . They were very professional and helped make our wedding absolutely amazing! If you are looking for a wedding venue in western PA check out Green Gables it was so beautiful!

  Parents of the groom/rehearsal party hosts

  We hosted our son’s rehearsal party last weekend. What a gorgeous venue! Everything was perfect from the food to the atmosphere to the view! Attention to detail was important to us from the beginning of the planning stages until the event itself….we can honestly say that they met or exceeded all of our expectations!

  Unbelievable How Well it Went

  The wedding was unbelievable. Fantastic in just about every way you could imagine. The Green Gables staff was very attentive and went above and beyond to help from every angle. Reasonable pricing and great record of important contacts to help with the transportation, beer, walk-able lodging etc. Most of our guests (over 200) came from Pittsburgh and the drive seemed very doable for them in case you are a fellow yinzer and were considering the distance. Plenty of hotels in nearby Somerset as well. We can not thank the owner Teresa enough who did so much work planning everything for us and was an amazing day of coordinator. I highly suggest you schedule a meeting with her if you find yourself preparing for an upcoming wedding.

  Perfectly elegant venue with great service!

  I cannot say enough wonderful things about my wedding at Green Gables. We had multiple guests tell us that it was the most beautiful and unique venue that they had been to. Teresa was fantastic to work with throughout the entire process. She was very prompt, timely, and incredibly efficient. She was always quick to respond to me with any questions or changes I had, especially the weeks leading up to my wedding. The staff was wonderful and very accommodating regarding everything we wanted to have at the wedding - we didn't get a single "no, we can't/won't do that" for any of our little details for the day (and between a ceremony champagne table, cocktail hour live music, cigar bar on the patio, and sparkler exit, we had a lot of little additional details for the day).
  The day of the wedding went perfectly. Teresa kept us calm in the presence of a bad weather forecast (that luckily turned around) and reassured us that everything could still be done and we had a plan B and plan C for locations within the venue. She also kept great communication throughout the day, checking in with me and my bridal party and keeping everything running exactly on time. All of the staff did a beautiful job with decorations and layout of the venue, and guests told me how polite and friendly all of the staff was.
  If you are someone who is a planner and wants to work with someone who keeps you on track for the entire wedding day, I can't recommend Green Gables enough.

  This is one of the most romantic wedding venues you will find in western PA. The staff was wonderful, had an eye for detail, and very accommodating. Any question you have, they have the answer. The food was perfect, we had salmon and prime rib and organic vegetables from there gardens. If I had to describe the feel of Green Gables, I would call it rustic elegance. Our officiant told us afterwards that she had performed many weddings but this was the most beautiful one she has done. My second daughter already told me this is where she is getting married when that day comes. I can not say enough good things, it surpassed my expectations.

  We could not be more pleased!! Everything from the planning to the end on the reception was nothing short of amazing. Theresa made it so easy and smooth. The food was great and the staff couldn't have been better. Gorgeous grounds to have a wedding. A++++

  My daughter was married here Sept. 22,2012. From the moment you book Teresa and her staff charge of all the on-sight planning. We received many compliments from our guests about the beauty of the venue and property as well as the quality of the food. The wedding came off exactly as planned. I was so impressed with Teresa's flexibility and her desire to deliver whatever the couple and our families asked, but not afraid to voice her opinion if she thought we were going down a wrong road. I can not say enough about this venue and the staff. A talked of experience at a very affordable price. Thanks Teresa and staff!

  ABSOLUTELY the best decision I made! Teresa was wonderful, the staff was friendly and super helpful! My flowers were not delivered and they took me out and cut flowers from the ground to use! They also helped me put together the centerpieces. Our families stayed at Huddleson Court and the Coal Miner's Inn for the weekend and it was great. The service that you get is unbelievable, especially given the great prices!
  
  The guests loved the atmosphere. It is so pretty! We were married on the lawn in front of the willow tree. No one could believe the flowers and upkeep of the grounds! Not to mention the reception hall! It was perfect for us, as we are very outdoorsy, and love nature.
  
  As far as the food - it was WONDERFUL! I had nothing but compliments on the crab cakes, stuffed chicken breast, and portabella mushroom dinner choices. They said they couldn't believe that it was wedding food! We also chose the pear and port soup, signature salad and white cake with ice cream for dessert. The appetizers were amazing and I didn't even SEE them (because we were doing pictures) the guests loved them!

  Green Gables is a WONDERFUL venue for both ceremony and reception. I held my ceremony out on their patio overlooking the lake and the reception inside the restaurant. Their main banquet room has a dance floor and is absolutely gorgeous for anyone interested in a rustic, floral venue. Teresa (proprietor of Green Gables) is extremely organized and made sure that everything went off with out a hitch. She's always just a phone call away and she's so reasonable. The day of the rehearsal, Teresa had everything lined up and ready and led us through the motion of the following day so seamlessly that I had nothing to be nervous about.
  
  The food is amazing and is wonderfully presented. We had a steak strip and potatoes main course and not only did it taste amazing, but it looked like it was prepared by world class chefs.
  
  Maybe the most considerate thing Green Gables does for us is that they prepare, arrange and decorate with flowers grown right on the grounds there for the reception. So all you need to provide on your own is flowers for the reception and your own bouquets etc. It's included in the cost and you can even have this as your centerpiece, which I did. It takes such a load off of the planning .
  
  This is a wonderful venue. I'd reselect it any day!

  This venue is an absolutely beautiful place to have a wedding. My wife and I were just married there 3 weeks ago and we couldn't be happier with both the venue and the staff.
  
  The owner was also great as she agreed to help us serve our guests breakfast for dinner while not charging us for a dinner rate, rather she kept the brunch rate per person. This made the venue and absolute steal for us.
  
  We had 200 people at the wedding, and I didn't hear one complaint. In fact, I heard the exact opposite. There was nothing but high praise, even weeks after the wedding. I know what you're thinking, "Yeah, you just got married and no one wants to tell you they had a bad time etc etc" but I've asked people who I know will tell me the truth and I believe they have.
  
  My only recommendation would be to have the DJ bring his own sound system. This sound system MUST include a power conditioner as they have most things in the main room running off of one or two circuits. They say that they have "an exceptional sound system" but in reality, it is sub par and has no sub-woofers. I knew this going in, and so we had the DJ bring his own, and it sounded amazing.
  
  Overall, I would suggest to anyone to have their wedding at Green Gables. It is an incredible venue with dedicated (yet somehow invisible) staff that goes the extra mile to make sure your day runs smoothly. AWESOME PLACE!

  I had both my ceremony and reception at Green Gables. We were extremely pleased with their organization, attention to detail, and service. Teresa, the owner and "wedding coordinator" at Green Gables met with us twice to have "detailed meetings" prior to the wedding, and was available any time we needed her. In addition to "normal" services - catering, bar service - Green Gables provided linens, napkins, and centerpieces at no additional cost. Also - they do not charge extra for cake cutting (unfortunately, most places do!). They do however charge a traying fee if you provide your own cookies, but it was rather minimal. Teresa was professional and EXTREMELY organized and prompt. My wedding was planned to start at 4:30 and she made sure it started promptly at 4:30!! (I think its the first wedding I've been to that DID start on time! When it started to rain, Green Gables had numerous umbrellas available and ready for the wedding party and guests to use - it was something that I hadn't even thought of, even though I knew it was supposed to rain. It was a nice touch that I really appreciated. Dinner was excellent, and all of my guests were pleased with the service they received by all of their staff. Only disappointments of the day -- which are very minimal-- we planned on having plum napkins and a fire pit for guests to roast s'mores in, but the napkins (they were renting them) did not come in in time and they forgot to set up the firepit. These were details that I wanted, but nothing that the guests missed or really cared about. And Green Gables credited me for both of these "issues" on my final bill, which I really appreciated. The only real down side to Green Gables is the lack of air conditioning - I was hesitant about this having an August wedding. Even though it was hot outside day-of, inside the main room stays rather cool due to the stone construction - And the staff set up fans around the room after all of the important events and pictures had occurred. Love!

  Green Gables was a beautiful place to have our wedding. The natural beauty and inside decor was perfect and our guests loved it! The food was delicious, with good choices, and importantly, everything was served hot!! Teresa was a wonderful help in planning our perfect wedding.

  Beautiful fall wedding!

  We live in Pittsburgh and had the most beautiful fall wedding at Green Gables on 10/8! The building and grounds are gorgeous, the prices are reasonable, and we loved that we really didn’t need to add much decor to the space. Teresa was very helpful throughout the process — planning sessions, phone calls, running the rehearsal, and taking care of everything the day of the wedding. The next morning, all of our decor was packed up and waiting for us. We also rented Green Gables cabins to stay in and get ready, which was very convenient for the whole family. Our guests LOVED the venue, and many asked how we found such a beautiful place. We loved our wedding at Green Gables, and we highly recommend it to anyone!

  We live in Pittsburgh and had the most beautiful fall wedding at Green Gables on 10/8! The building and grounds are gorgeous, the prices are reasonable, and we loved that we really didn’t need to add much decor to the space. Teresa was very helpful throughout the process — planning sessions, phone calls, running the rehearsal, and taking care of everything the day of the wedding. The next morning, all of our decor was packed up and waiting for us. We also rented Green Gables cabins to stay in and get ready, which was very convenient for the whole family. Our guests LOVED the venue, and many asked how we found such a beautiful place. We loved our wedding at Green Gables, and we highly recommend it to anyone!

  The Green Gables Restaurant was a gorgeous location to get married. The staff was very accommodating, and provided a nearly complete service package for our ceremony/reception. We paid one fee to rent the facilities for our ceremony, and the price also included the same venue for our reception, use of their sound system, tables/chairs/linens, setup/breakdown, and dressing room, and the proprietor even helped organize our ceremony. We then paid a fee per head for the catering. We especially enjoyed getting married in front of the huge, stone fireplace, for our Winter Wonderland Wedding!

  The venue site is beautiful and the food was great. We had great weather so we were able to have the wedding outside near the water. There was still some goose poop outside, so we had to watch to try and avoid some of this. We also had to pay additional to have an afternoon wedding.   The site is beautiful with great scenery for wedding pictures. Although the venue was slightly small, we were able to make it work with a comfortable theme. Elegant, yet classic and comfortable at the same time. They have small cabins on site as well, which make a great place to spend the wedding night!

  My daughter had her wedding reception here in September. All I can say is that it was magical!!! Everyone loved the venue and the food was good also. The only thing I would suggest is to allow more time for pictures because the grounds are a photographers dream! We felt a little rushed trying to get pics and not be late for dinner. Also check there sound system first. We could not here cocktail hour or dinner music. Otherwise, it's a very beautiful, special place!

  Wedding reception

  Beautiful setting, Teresa acts as the wedding coordinator orchestrating the evening. Great staff , very accommodating. Word of caution- for 130 people our meals were cold. They must not use roasters or heaters. So cold that some of our guests had to order meals on the restaurant side. We complained but was told it took too long to start serving our guests. Food should never be served cold. Some guests actually left to go get dinner elsewhere then come back. This is an expensive venue. Very disappointed.

That said, there were some things that weren’t as expected. Teresa, the wedding planner, was very organized in planning our wedding... however her flexibility and friendliness leave something to be desired. While attempting to have a moment with my mom before the ceremony (and in process of being dressed) she barged in to ask a question that my brother had already gotten the answer to (she knew this.)   Ultimately - I think there is MUCH that can be done to IMPROVE this place and make it a TOP wedding venue in pittsburgh.
  
  Amazing news: They don't charge you a dime to rent the room/space.
  
  Horrible news: They do NOT email you or call you back. You have to text the proprietor..and she missed an appointment with me within weeks of my wedding and never apologized.
  
  They're VERY flexible on your DIY stuff - but don't expect them to agree with everything or not to talk you out of some things. They have a "way" they do things and if you go outside of those borders....they strongly disagree with you and try to talk you into something else. I wanted two (and maybe even 3!) Bartenders outside for cocktail hour - thats not how they normally do it. They disagreed and disagreed....low and behold.....almost EVERY guest said "Should've had another bartender outside!"
  
  I mean - I'm paying...why not just listen to what I want?
  
  Also - they dont do contracts...sooo - you just have to TRUST!
  
  Other than that - its INCREDIBLY unique, beautiful, and a great canvas for rustic, vintage, non-traditional weddings. Appetizers were amazing, dinner was only OK.

  Nightmare at Green Gables

  After the wedding we had several complaints that the food, mainly the chicken wasn't cooked all the way through. We had a gluten free person at the wedding and they changed what she wanted without asking us. They served alcohol to a minor, thankfully we caught it before the minor was able to drink it. We specifically asked them to give people an option of having alcohol for the toast or ginger Ale they went ahead and poured all of the wine that we purchased even though one bottle was to be saved. Wasn't decorated as per brides request. Our cake was torn apart before we were even able to see it. Altar decorations weren't put together as per Brides request. Only one staff member was professionally dressed for the event. We were rushed through the wedding by the wedding planner. The wedding planner gouged the maid of honors hand when she tore into the brides dress to bustle it. I really could go on and on. Bride was furious and still is over everything that didn't go correctly. Plus when we brought these things up to the staff there, excuses and poor attitude.
  
  UPDATE 10/11/2019 Was issued some of my money back for paying a little bit over. Guess what THIS BUSINESS'S CHECK BOUNCED AND I GET THE LOVELY PRIVILEGE OF PAYING MY REFUND BACK TO THE BANK! I'M SO PISSED. DON'T DEAL BUSINESS WITH THESE CROOKS HAVE YOUR WEDDING ELSEWHERE!
