I love this place. The Greystone was close to my church, affordable and well maintained. I had my Rehersal Dinner and my Reception there so I got one extra day at NO CHARGE! The staff went out of their way to make my wedding perfect and stress free. This is the best venue in Auburn

What an outstanding value in Auburn! The building was spotless and beautiful. We were able to save so much money by bringing in our OWN food and drink which enabled us to upgrade our honeymoon. The location was just three short blocks from our church so the travel hassle was at a minimum. We looked into so many reception venues in Auburn and Opelika which "nickel and dime"you to death!

I love this place! I am looking forward to my wedding next year in May. I went to visit the Greystone and knew that I wanted to have my wedding there.

    1. I found the individual in charge of easy to communicate with when she felt like talking.
    2. The establishments does provide tablecloths but not white linen....the selection is limited and NOT appealing to the eyes....even if you are visually impaired.
    3. The glassware was a nice touch.
    4. Grounds were okay...you must rent all tables and chairs from an outside venue....they have the clearance plastic ones....the kind the wind will blow away.
    5. Do not, do not, do not rent the room upstairs....nasty nasty nasty!
The power was off in the room...and the bathroom had dirty diapers in it. I had to go back and gather my belongings with a flashlight. I contacted the manager a few days later and received no response. The bed was not made...I didnt think about puttting my dress on it. It is not a small deal when you expect it to be clean....or at least kinda clean.
Parking is limited....it worked for us because we had under a 100 individuals present.
I remember attending parties at Greystone and living across the street for years....my memory of this place is a fond one....overall .guest enjoyed themselves but as the bride I would recommend this place but on the side of caution.
Insider tip....Special arrangement actually dropped off and picked up the tables, chairs and table clothes.....huge BONUS.

The venue itself is beautiful, we had both the rehearsal dinner and reception there. The woman in charge however, is very hard to get ahold of and very slow to respond, as well as unclear in communication. It was very hard to work with her, but we got the venue for free on Thursday and could set up everything, which turned out very well. We also saved a lot of money by using this venue, and both the rehearsal dinner and reception were incredibly beautiful. You do have to do everything yourself though!

    Very Disappointed in Service

My husband and I had both our ceremony and reception at the Greystone Mansion, and although the day itself turned out beautifully, we were really disappointed in the services we received from Auburn Events (the company that manages the venue). They had a lot of staff turnover during our planning process, which made communication and planning very difficult. On the day of our wedding, there was a laundry list of things that went wrong on Auburn Events's part:

    - the support staff that Auburn Events hired did not show up, so my bridal party had to help set up the venue, which we paid Auburn Events to do.
    - The house itself was visibly dirty from the event they had the night before when I showed up for pictures and getting dressed with my family.
    - after we left the venue, the event coordinator sent me an email saying that she had accidentally ordered $500 more alcohol for the bar tab than we agreed to in our contract and informed me that I would be expected to pay the difference.

I have tried to reach out to them since our wedding day and have received no response from either the event coordinator or the manager. Even though the house itself is beautiful, I would not recommend it to anyone due to the issues we had with Auburn Events.

The venue was so filthy, we had to clean it ourselves before the reception -- we are talking vomit in the bathroom dirty. The owner of the facility is frustrating to work with and isn't clear or helpful. I had heard these things before choosing this as my venue and they proved to be true. However, wedding day was fine and the venue was beautiful (after we cleaned it).

I cannot believe that this lady can get away with running a business from this venue. Apparently some sort of art classes are held throughout the week, and even though the venue price includes a cleanup price, you are also responsible for cleaning up before your event..including the mess that the students left. I didn't pay to come in and clean the entire table with open coffee and creamer, stale doughnuts, and crumbs and napkins all over the floor.
Our other venue had been double booked so this was the last minute place we found. The outside was beautiful once we removed the dead rodents (as cats were running rampant around the house). There is a fountain, small, but it doesn't work and mold and trash have accumulated in it at the head of the covered area.
We rented the wedding day of and the Friday before to have the rehearsal dinner, she did give us Thursday free..we just spent it cleaning. Her greenery is overgrown through the walkways, the front porch is covered in moss and mold. The windows were DISGUSTING with full hand prints on them and window seals had dead insects in them. All of which we cleaned. She asks that you do not move any items and if you do please move them back. I assume she didn't mean the molded taco shell that we found in a bowl above the mantel, so we disposed of it for her. After sweeping three times we finally got all the mud off the floors. We also had to vacuum the stairs as I didn't feel like ruining my dress on her tacky leopard covered steps. She thinks that the decor is homey of the houses original period but the dingy and faded rugs take away from the house.
Also, there are really tacky pictures of dogs everywhere...weird.
For fifty extra dollars you can rent the upstairs bedroom as a bridal room...with a bed that wasnt even made...does someone sleep there or something. Also, man was walking around the house on Friday saying he worked there, what???? This isn't something she felt the need to inform us about.
