  Rainforest Paradise

  I chose to have my wedding at Hacienda Azucena and stay here for 4 days, this was the greatest decision!
  
  Thanks to Carmen she planned the best wedding. She put together a personalized package for my wedding with everything included this made
  it so easy for us a stress free process! She knows the best team of people! Everyone had the best time, Carmen’s attention to detail is amazing I am so happy.
  
  The house and location itself is so breathtaking the pictures could never do it justice. We stayed here with 10 people it was so comfortable and peaceful the most beautiful house I have ever stayed in. The sounds of the rainforest and the lush greenery surrounding you, I was in heaven.
  
  Everything was way more beautiful and perfect than I could have imagined. The officiant was friendly and made the ceremony fun, we had a very good violinisit, the makeup/hair artist did an amazing job I was in love with the outcome, dj was great at mixing he did a great job,the food tasted like a homemade meal my mother in law would make it was delicious, the cake was amazing I couldn’t get enough, the servers and bartenders were attentive and friendly,everything was phenomenal!

  The Perfect Wedding

  My wife and I decided to have our wedding here after much discussion and looking at destination weddings, but we made the PERFECT decision coming here. Everything was beautiful and from start to finish, they handled the details from flowers, food cake all the way to seating, music and get ready rooms. We never saw the venue until the day before, but it was well worth it!
  
  The ceremony was beautiful and started during sunset time. The reception on the terrace and food had everyone talking for days after. We were told by multiple people it was the best and most beautiful wedding they've ever attended.
  
  Stephanie and her mom acted as day-of wedding coordinators to make sure everything went as planned. We opted for a tropical themed wedding and colors, and the flowers they arranged for were perfect! Every detail was thought out and taken care of by them. We had two-three video meetings in the months leading up but besides that and sending Venmo payments, that's all we had to worry about.
  
  The get ready room for the girls upstairs was huge and was great for relaxing, getting ready and having views of the surrounding rainforest area.
  
  Our photos were taken by extremely talented travel and adventure photographers pronetowanderphotography (Insta: drinkofwater and Matt Johnson: chatomatto) who I would highly recommend reaching out to if you book this place. They know the venue and area now and took so many awesome shots.

  Amazing!!!!

  We loved everything about our experience with Carmen and Stephanie at hacienda azucena! Carmen took care of every detail. It was as simple as sending some photos of your vision and they will make it your reality! Most importantly, I’m extremely grateful for Carmen’s professionalism. She was above and beyond. Words can’t express I it gratitude. Two days before our wedding, our band and dj cancelled on us. I called Carmen and she told me not to worry, she will handle it. Some would say it was a miracle that she was able to pull a band and dj together that very night. But the truth is she’s just really great at her job and deserves all the praise for it. The entire staff here was incredible. All were Extremely friendly and accommodating.
  The place itself, is absolutely stunning. Pictures do not do it justice. I had family fly in from all over the country and the venue took everyone’s breathe away. My sister in law is recently engaged and plans to have her wedding her after attending our wedding.
  If I could do it all over again I would choose hacienda azucena every time!

  The most common perfect wedding!

  I can’t recommend Hacienda Azucena highly enough. They helped us plan the perfect event and i honestly don’t think it could have gone any better. It started with a detailed planning meeting in which they listened to our wants and needs. They communicate frequently and take care of everything. On the day of the wedding they had everything in place and made our event the party of a lifetime. Not only did they take good care of myself and my husband but also all 26 of our guests. The venue is beautiful and the picture opportunities are endless there. Anyone considering a wedding in PR should contact them immediately!

  Stunning Venue With Exceptional Service

  Photos don't do this venue justice! As a hospitality publicist and a Puerto Rican woman it was important to have a unique wedding that reflected my culture and supported an independent and locally owned business. I visited many venues that seemed capable and experienced, but they all felt generic and cookie cutter. Hacienda Azucena, Carmen Ortiz and her team of vendors and staff went above and beyond to help me execute the wedding of my dreams. She even took it upon herself to build a chuppah to respect my husband's Jewish faith. As someone who has planned many events, I was impressed by how Carmen meticulously took care of every detail. She was firm yet caring, accommodating yet realistic and made the entire wedding process from NYC as painless as possible. All of our guests and family commented on how stunning the venue was and how seamless the evening was. Our guests absolutely loved the staff and they felt like part of the family by the end of the night. From the bottom of my heart I can't thank Carmen and her team enough. I only wish we could recreate this experience every year...lol!

  Amazing process and venue

  The venue was gorgeous amazing view clean fresh everything about it was just so nice after hurricane Fiona I was very nervous things would not look the same but Carmen the coordinator sent me pictures and a sure everything looked the same and beautiful. I do want to take the chance as I learn through my process and planning my wedding yes the venue was amazing but I really have to give Carmen all of the appreciation here when I chose my venue I did not see it in person till the day of the wedding as I mentioned before Puerto Rico got hit with hurricane Fiona and I lived in Florida which we got hit with Ian I was a nervous wreck Carmen helped me every step of the way from day one till the day of my wedding after both hurricanes she helped to calm me down get my head together and continue with the planning I could not be more grateful to her through every step that she helped me the day of my wedding was amazing every vendor she used every person in her staff was great try dream wedding came to life with every picture I send in down to every detail and so much more. I would recommend them to anybody a wedding is so much more then just a venue but also who helps you every step of the way and Carmen sure is the one thank you again.

  Excellent venue!

  Carmen, Stephanie and the Hacienda Azucena family are exceptional. We are so lucky to have been able to have our wedding at their beautiful home and quite literally have zero complaints. Carmen is attentive, professional and a joy to work with. The property and view from the ceremony area is breathtaking. The wedding decor was absolutely stunning, and my flower bouquet was a work of art. The officiant, David Mariani, was warm and friendly. The ceremony was intimate and personal. All of the food was amazing! We had a vegan option as well, and this was hands down the best meal I ate the entire weekend in PR. The chef was kind enough to speak one-on-one with a guest who had severe allergies, and he delivered an excellent meal. He also took the time to explain the menu to the guests and bring around some extra things for everyone to try. The servers and bartenders were top notch, no one ever seemed to need anything, their service was seamless. The cake looked great and tasted even better! Carmens attention to detail made this a totally stress free experience for us. We were able to fully enjoy our day and all of our guests because of Carmen and her family. I would not have changed one thing, I only wish I could do it all again. Thank you so much Carmen and everyone at Hacienda Azucena. We recommend 1000%!

  There are not words to express the amount of gratitude I have for this place and the owners. Carmen and her husband stepped up to make our wedding day magical, even though we booked last minute. She made it happen. And, they are just genuinely the kindest people. They love this place and they love weddings, and it shows in every detail. The property is paradise. Pictures don’t do it justice.   Everything was perfect; everything was taken care of

  My husband and I just got married at Hacienda Azucena in January 2020, and everything was absolutely perfect. The venue was magical, the flowers were stunning, the food was delicious. Carmen was so easy to work with throughout the whole process, and took so many things off of my plate that I would have had to coordinate from Wisconsin if we had not chosen to use her. The DJ she selected did a great job, and I honestly only exchanged one email with him with our chosen songs. I only sent her pictures of a few cakes and flowers, yet she managed to capture exactly what I had in mind. She even put together a bouquet for my mom at the last minute. I'm sure I could have been more specific about a lot of things and she would have captured those as well, but it was so nice that I was able to leave so much of the coordination to her.
  
  The week of the wedding we were able to stop by to see everything in person, and Carmen was so welcoming and put all of my worries at ease. Most of Puerto Rico was without power due to the earthquakes, but Carmen explained their generators and how she would make sure we wouldn't notice them--and we didn't. I'm I would recommend Hacienda Azucena 100%.

  Dreamy, gorgeous and well organized

  Hacienda Azucena is the perfect destination wedding location. It was honestly a dream location. We planned our wedding in a couple months and basically sent them a Pinterest board and told them to run with it. They executed everything with perfection. Our wedding was everything we dreamed of and more. Plus it was all within budget.

  Perry Wedding- 08.11.19

  This place is beautiful! We couldnt have asked for more. All of our wedding guests were very impressed with hacienda acuzena. We sent our decor, food & cake ideas to carmen & she exceeded our expectations. The venue is perfect for about 50 guests or less. The bridal suite is clean & perfect for getting ready. There was an area for my husband to get ready as well. The only vendor i had to find was my photographer. (Mofoto) & he charged under $1k for 5 hrs of drone videography & photography. She made my bouquet as well. (rio grande is 30 mins from san juan)

  Wonderful!!!!

  We honestly fell in love with the venue as soon as we arrived and the experience with the owners even made it more lovely. It’s the perfect place to have a wedding surrounded by all the beautiful greenery. Would definitely recommend hands down!

  Unforgettable and unique wedding experience!!

  We got married at Hacienda Azucena a couple weeks ago and still can't stop thinking about how beautiful everything was! We first contacted Carmen in March for our December wedding and she was quick to provide us with a quote for a wedding package. We were planning a small destination wedding (less than 30 people) so it was so helpful to have Carmen organize just about everything for our special day. The only aspects we booked separately were our photographer and a Mariachi band.
  
  We actually hadn’t seen the grounds before the day of our wedding so we were totally amazed when we got to the Hacienda! Honestly, the place is so beautiful it hardly needs any decorations but Carmen and her family were able to create beautiful arrangements and place settings. Everything was so well done, elegant, and tasteful. We requested traditional Puerto Rican food which was excellent, and no one could stop talking about how great our cake was!   We are thankful to Carmen and her family for planning such a perfect day for us, allowing us to enjoy the planning process and the wedding day with minimal stress. I would recommend this venue with no reservations for any couple wishing to have an intimate and unforgettable wedding. I even keep joking with my new husband that we should get married again so we can go back to Hacienda Azucena!
  

  We got married at Hacienda Azucena a couple weeks ago and still can't stop thinking about how beautiful everything was! We first contacted Carmen in March for our December wedding and she was quick to provide us with a quote for a wedding package. We were planning a small destination wedding (less than 30 people) so it was so helpful to have Carmen organize just about everything for our special day. The only aspects we booked separately were our photographer and a Mariachi band.
  
  We actually hadn’t seen the grounds before the day of our wedding so we were totally amazed when we got to the Hacienda! Honestly, the place is so beautiful it hardly needs any decorations but Carmen and her family were able to create beautiful arrangements and place settings. Everything was so well done, elegant, and tasteful. We requested traditional Puerto Rican food which was excellent, and no one could stop talking about how great our cake was! She saved the top cake for us to freeze for next year but it was so good, we couldn't help ourselves and ate it the next day! haha

  OMG !! I can go on and on how amazing this place is.. from the picturesque views, to the level of details , DJ , food, hair/ makeup artist , shuttle buses, decorations , cake, officiant, flowers .. and all affordable .. everything and everyone perfect. Mind you this was all done with the amazing Wonder Woman CARMEN and her crew. She made the process so easy. I gave her my ideas and colors via emails and she immediately captured the essence and vibe . Now that’s a gift ! CARMEN???? , her husband and mother luv you .. big hugs!
  We had our guest stay in the Isla Verde San Juan area. The Hacienda Azucena provided shuttle buses (about 30 min drive from San Juan to Rio grande) . All my guests when they pulled up to the hacienda were captivated by its beauty. Our guests, have been texting us raving about the Hacienda.
  From the ceremony to the reception spot on.. And the DJ, omg we all had a blast!!!!!!
  Hacienda offers photography service but we had our family friend (Roman Ashley Photography) do our photos, as they specialize in worldwide travel photography. The hacienda was so accommodating with Roman and we are forever grateful !!
  And as I complete this review, I tear up writing this because we are forever grateful to the Hacienda Azucena for making jason and I wedding a dream come true !!! May God continue to bless you, your family and HACIENDA AZUCENA!!

My fiancé and I planned this wedding from California. I sent Carmen pictures, we went back and forth in email and phone calls and I was so nervous to actually see how it all turned out. She captured EVERYTHING I asked for. Our guests called it the “best party of the year”. The venue was GORGEOUS, the decorations were PERFECT, the food was delicious and the staff were so kind and helpful. I would give this a million stars if I could. I planned the wedding from North Carolina and had my reservations with getting married at a venue I had never seen. Carmen was just an email or phone call away to answer any questions and ease any doubts I may have had. Once I entered the grounds I was overwhelmed with the scenery. This creates the perfect place for pictures. The food was delicious and the reception was perfect. Our ceremony overlooked the valley. I am so appreciative to the entire staff for the time they put in to make sure this day was as special as I had always imagined. Ten stars!

  It has been just four days since my dream wedding at Hacienda Azucena. The anticipation of the wedding had built up for OVER a year, as my fiancee and I had never seen the venue. Carmen was so easy to communicate with through the entire planning process--she literally booked everyone for me except my photographer. How can you NOT love someone that responds to incessant emails about minor details??
  
  My hair stylist couldn't come to our wedding at the last minute and Carmen was able to arrange someone to do my hair. The hair and makeup artists were wonderful--even though initially shocked by the amount of makeup they put on, I can tell that it made my photos look even more beautiful. The decor was simple and not too cheesy. I really do not like signs--you know the ones that say "live love laugh" etc--but the decor signs at the wedding were perfect and elegant. There was a giant "I Do" sign near the altar and a floating "Love" sign over the pond. The flowers rendered me speechless--Carmen's mom made the arrangements and they couldn't have been any more beautiful. I sent Carmen just three photos of my colors and bouquet ideas and she made my wedding dreams come to life. The food was amazing--typical Puerto Rican tastes that all of our guests loved.
  
  My fiancee is Puerto Rican so it was important to both of us that we not only get married in his home island, but also in the mountains/rainforest--which is a place we love. Carmen made this experience worth every stressful moment. She truly went above and beyond to create a wedding I couldn't even have dreamed of. Everything from the makeup artist, to the DJ, to the food, to the decor was spot on. My husband and I plan on coming back with family again soon. I highly highly HIGHLY recommend Hacienda Azucena if you want something elegant, simple, beautiful, UNIQUE, and away from the traditional beach wedding!! Gracias por todo Carmen (and Jaime too!).

  Hacienda Azucena is a perfect venue, not only for weddings, but also for a get away with a group of friends. The views of Puerto Rico are spectular and the staff even better. The went the extra mile and beyond our expectations.
  We had an Exotic Bachelorette and the chef prepared an amazing Thai Dinner; the attentions were perfect all the time.... They even decorated the table with the theme and we didn't ask for it.
  The terrace was perfect for a kareoke night, the bar was great for our mimosas and the jacuzzi excellent to end the night.
  Overall, having our activity at Hacienda Azucena was amazing and I cannot wait to go back. Already planning the next activity!!

  Carmen and Jaime have a beautiful property located in Rio Grande with incredible views and unique charm. The staff was very responsive and catered to our guests needs and tastes. The unique beauty is that the hacienda is nestled between natural beauty of the Puerto Rico countryside (near the Yunque rainforest) with a well maintained country estate that has a beautiful pond and different areas for your guests to mingle. For the catering, we decided to go for a typical menu complete with a whole roast pig that was incredibly delicious. When planning, you should take advantage of the property's features and natural beauty to create a memorable event that you will cherish for years to come. Kudos to Carmen, Jaime and their staff.

The contract was very detailed and instructions on payment were easy to follow. She asked questions about how we'd like our wedding and even let us pick our own colors for the wedding. Truly amazing!!! When we arrived to la hacienda, we were blown away. The pictures truly do it no justice. The place was immaculate, we couldn't believe our eyes. The views from the balcony's and every window for that matter were breathtaking. Carmen and her husband Jaime greeted us at the entrance and gave us a tour, the freshwater pool and hammock were truly a delight for our guests. Till this day everyone who stayed talks about it. Carmen and Jaime made us feel very comfortable. The day of the wedding, both my wife and I were so nervous due to the fact that it rained all day. Carmen and Jaime were so confident that everything was going to be alright, they had a backup plan to ensure that we would have our wedding. But that wasn't necessary, as with all their positivity and with the grace of God, the sun came out, everything was set and the moisture added amazing detail to the outdoor rainforest/sunset environment. Our family and guests were truly amazed by the scenery. The Minister was kind, funny and really connected with everyone at the ceremony. Carmen also surprised us with special details that personalized our day. The reception was exceptional, the staff, was so friendly and on point with everything. The appetizers and food were great!
