I would highly recommend booking your event at the Historic Minneapolis City Hall & Hennepin County Courthouse! Working through the booking at the office was a true pleasure, and they were a wealth of information beyond the location, into recommendations for preferred caterers, officiants, and fun locations for our special day. On the site the weekend staff was very helpful and courteous. We will definitely keep this location in mind for future events and recommendations to friends/family in the area.

Everyone said how beautiful our venue was. I loved that it was unique, although it did make for a slightly stressful rehearsal as we tried to figure out how everything was going to work since your using a double staircase instead of a normal center aisle. Theresa who helps organize all the wedding stuff was great to work with. She answered questions quickly and was great at the last minute in helping us change our layout when our wedding was smaller than expected.

Beautiful venue, reasonably priced (especially considering it is downtown MPLS), and Theresa is so easy going. Everything ran smoothly and I put little money into decorating because it is so unique. Loved it!

My husband and I had our ceremony and reception at Minneapolis City Hall in October 2015. We are so happy that we went with City Hall as our venue and if we were to plan all over again, we would choose it again and again.

It is a stunning, unique, and grand venue. We received many compliments on its beauty. The event staff executed everything flawlessly.

About 5 months before our wedding, the event coordinator who had been with City Hall for years retired and moved away. This made me nervous because I was wondering how someone with so much experience with events at the venue could be replaced. But then came Theresa! Theresa has also worked at City Hall for years and was incredibly helpful in answering my (many) questions. She was organized and diligent.

We are so happy with City Hall and couldn't recommend it more as a wedding venue.

We got so many compliments on the beautiful venue. The event coordinator was amazing to work with. The only small issue was that the facility didn't cool off as much as we would have liked.

My husband and I had our wedding ceremony at the historic Minneapolis City Hall. The atrium, where the wedding ceremony is held, is absolutely beautiful. It has big marble staircases and large landings, beautiful stained glass windows. Walking into the main area and looking up at the architecture in the main atrium is breathtaking, and it looked amazing in all of the photos. The City Hall is a very iconic and recognizable building in Minneapolis, but few people realize how beautiful it is inside – both my out-of-town guests, as well as those who were from the Twin Cities, were amazed at this hidden gem!

The price for renting the City Hall was really reasonable, and the coordinator on their side was great to work with. It was really easy to coordinate all of the details (even from out of town, since I don’t live in Minneapolis), so we could set decorations up the day before, and so that everything was ready when we arrived. It was also really nice that, because it’s such a big building, there was lots of space for getting ready – both the guys and the girls had their own large rooms to use before the wedding.

One thing we were worried about originally was the giant statue of a river god that is in the middle of the floor. However, it ended up being a great talking piece (you couldn’t miss it!), and chairs were arranged carefully so that it didn’t block people’s view. It also means you don’t come down a central aisle, but instead you enter by descending the grand marble staircase – a pretty amazing entrance.

The main contact/event coordinator is such a pleasure to work with. She is flexible, very responsive, and open to your ideas. She made us feel like we were her only clients!

My husband and I had both our ceremony and reception at the Minneapolis City Hall - both were held in the main rotunda space of the building. We can't say enough about how amazing it was to get married at this location - it hit all four of our personal requirements that we were looking for in a wedding venue - uniqueness, style of venue, location, and cost. This building is historic, beautiful (the marble, the stained glass, the grand staircases), and really unique (the GIANT statue in the middle of the space). None of our wedding guests had ever been there before so most were expecting that were were getting married in some plain little room (being that it was at a City Hall) with a judge .... so you can imagine their amazement when they saw how grand the space was! The event coordinator at the Minneapolis City Hall was easy to work with and responded to my emails and calls in a quick and friendly manner. If you're like us and aren't looking to get married in a cookie cutter banquet hall space and are looking for something unique but also historic and affordable - consider Minneapolis City Hall - it is such a wonderful space to say "I Do" and share a first dance!
