Our food from Hog Wild was absolutely amazing and the price was so affordable! We did the buffet and they set it up and kept it stocked. We still have people talking about how good the food was.

We had an excellent experience with Hog Wild BBQ at our event. We planned for a few extra guests, and ended up with so much leftover food that we were able to provide a wonderful meal for residents at the City Mission, as well as sending chicken home with the rental company's setup and delivery staff. That was an extra blessing. Three months later, people are still asking me who catered the event and complimenting them.

I love Hog Wild BBQ and really love the catering that they offer. It is very affordable and tastes great! The only thing is you have to have your own tuperware to put the leftovers in and be ready to take care of them at their end time. Otherwise you lose the left over food to the trash. I would definitely recommend their food to anyone, so delicious!

Don't waste your time on this company

I'm telling my story so this never happens to another bride. I never want anyone else to have the unnecessary stress that I did. Unhappy is an understatement with my entire experience here -- so much so we were forced to go somewhere else. We were originally supposed to be a June wedding but due to COVID we had to move our wedding to September. We had agreed to a price beforehand, paid the deposit, and then a month before our wedding in Sept. we were contacted (we weren't even contacted first with them saying their prices had been raised -- we reached out to them on a separate matter and that's when they dropped the bomb on us) saying we couldn't have it at that price and if we still wanted that type of food we'd have to pay $6 more per person. Then to top it off, we had under 100 due to COVID so they wouldn't serve it which made us have to go with another place (our venue would not allow guests to serve their own food) THREE WEEKS BEFORE THE WEDDING. We were never told if it was under 100 people that they wouldn't serve it. So unhappy with how this was handled. And just when you think this story can't get any more terrible, Tim promised me if we decided to go somewhere else he would give us back our $250 deposit and then refused to give it to us. Not sure why he felt the need to lie to us, he should've just told us from the beginning we wouldn't get our money back. Added more stress onto an already stressed out COVID bride that I did not need. And Tim was a jerk about the whole situation. DON'T waste your money on this company.

    Hog Wild BBQ's reply:

COVID has certainly been a challenging time. I am sorry you had to change your wedding date, sorry you are having a Thursday wedding, sorry you picked my most expensive menu item (with shortages) and my price tripled, and sorry instead of 160 guests you have 60. At Hog Wild we also face challenges out of our control: cancelled caterings, rescheduled weddings, takeout only, and price increases to name a few. Thankfully, we are blessed with a wonderful community in Holland that has supported locally owned and operated businesses.
My staff and I successfully worked with 50 other weddings to find a positive solution to a tough situation. All of the wonderful couples have embraced the situation and didn’t let it dictate their attitude. We worked together rather than receiving demands.
The $250 deposit is non refundable as stated on the contract. However, due to COVID I have been flexible to let weddings switch the date, use for rehearsal dinner, store credit and in one situation we donated the deposit to a local charity. But, switching to a different caterer because you don’t like my policies is not a valid reason to refund the deposit. Rather than disputing each claim, I encourage future brides and grooms to check out Hog Wild and make your own judgement. We have been in business 14 years and cater over 100 weddings each year.

We were quite dissappointed with Hog Wild's catering service for our wedding. The food tasted good, but about 1/4 of our guests got little if any food (veggies and gravy). We ordered the delivery and setup option with pulled pork, mashed potatoes and gravy, veggies, and lettuce salad. Hog Wild's response to the shortage was essentially "you get what you pay for", and that "if" we had ordered the full-service catering, they would have restocked the food that ran out, but with delivery, they are not responsible for food shortages. Despite the fact that the staff in the church kitchen was monitoring the buffet and serving sizes to make sure no one helped themselves to too large a meal, (the woman in charge of the kitchen works in catering), we were about 35 meals short of what we paid for. What an embarrassement as the bride and hostess to have to send apologies along with thank-you notes for the tables that had to watch everyone else eat! Hog Wild's compensation was a mere 10 $10 gift certificates that we're not sure what to do with. (I'm sure it would get around that some tables received gift certificates and other didn't) When we requested some type of refund since the shortage was way more than 10 guests, Tim Overway tried to blame the shortage on our kitchen staff, and his response pretty much guaranteed that we will not be returning to either Hog Wild or Ottawa Beach Inn, his other restarant in Holland.
