I just had my wedding here. A true gem in the midst of other surrounding hotel elegance. I was looking for a unique, romantic venue with great prices and this is what I received here. The coordinator, Grace was super sweet, professional and always working for what u envision. I was so relieved that we didn't need to spend thousands if dollars on decor, as they do it all as part of package. The service, the food, the venue is absolutely gorgeous and super romantic. I had an unforgettable wedding of my dreams. Truly happy with everything. Thank you do much Grace for your hard work!

OK, so here's my advice... If you are a type A person you should not get married at the Fig. It's a very laid back place that is run by the owner, Uno. I enjoyed working with him but could see how someone who is more type A then I am would absolutely freak out. For example, when i went to pay the bill it was neatly hand-written on a piece of legal paper :) This might cause some people to freak out. I on the other hand just thought it was funny and somewhat charming.

As far as our wedding goes everything was absolutely perfect. The venue is beautiful, the staff was extremely helpful and we had an amazing time. I would highly recommend the Figueroa Hotel for anyone who is pretty laid back and is in no way a bridezilla. if there is even an inkling of an*l retentiveness in your veins this probably isnt the venue for you.

Uno, the manager at the Figueroa Hotel is absolutely wonderful. You absolutely have to trust that he will come through with you and if you can, you will be in for the treat of a lifetime. He has a true grasp on how to make weddings go off without a hitch. His staff is superb and run the show quietly and with true professionalism. The atmosphere is fantastic! The food was sublime - we had numerous guests tells us how much they liked the food and that it was the best wedding food they had ever had. All the guests felt that they were in a magical place at the Figueroa! Uno has making a wedding happen down to a science and is open to you adding your own flair.

We loved loved loved the Hotel Figueroa as our reception venue! It is absolutely one the best values in Los Angeles. I should know. I looked for an entire year before finally booking about 3 months in advance of my wedding. The best part is how easy it is to throw a fabulous party there. We had a cocktail reception in the Nomad Lounge and the reception in the Rabat room. We had around 70 guests and it was just the right size. If you took out the lounge/pillow area you could probably make it work with up to 100. The venue automatically has unique and interesting decor so you can save a lot of time and energy on decorations. And it comes with great thick hard wood tables and chavari chairs with candles and lanterns and a table runner as one of the set ups. It is really easy to find banquet halls and hotel ballrooms but basically all those weddings tend to look the same. Our guests raved and raved about the venue, the food and the service. All the guests and my family kept saying how nice the staff was and how attentive they were. They also got a kick out of the costumes they wore. The food was moroccan, which I thought might be too "ethnic," but people loved it. I think they especially loved the appetizers and the vegetarians were thrilled with their options. We have some absolutely stunning photography that we took around the property, especially in front of the blue door outside and down in one of the rooms in the lower floor. The hotel manager, Uno, can be very difficult to get a hold of via email. He is very, very laid back but runs parties like clock work so even though he may seem like he may not take care of details, he actually does and you can trust him. He had a file on us that he kept adding to every time we met. The best thing to do is call ahead and get him on the phone and make an appointment each and every time you want to talk about the wedding. Being patient with him really pays off. The food and drinks and room fee were all very reasonable and finally I didn't feel like I was getting charged "wedding prices". He also gave us a great suggestion for a belly dancer that often performs there- Rosalba. We only had her perform for 15min but I think it was a great form of entertainment that really got people ready to dance after dinner. Also, the Lakers and American Idol has thrown parties there recently and I heard from another reviewer that Victoria's Secret did some photography there as well.

The Fig is not for everyone - but it was SO for us! Funky Moroccan style made it feel like an exotic destination while still in LA! One thing that's great about it is they make it easy by providing everything - a place for both the ceremony and reception, drinks, food (Moroccan style - fun and fine - you wouldn't go there JUST for the food, but totally good...), decor (you don't even need flowers - a HUGE savings - because the room is already decorated with canddles, etc...).

The owner, Uno is a very laid back guy - at first we were nervous because he was like "no problem, everything will be fine" and we hadn't even put a deposit, etc - but it turns out he was RIGHT. He does a lot of events, and everything went perfectly, as planned, and his estimate of a price per person (if i recall it was about 110/person, including cocktail hour, etc) was right on the money. We've recommended this place to others wholeheartedly, if the style is your aesthetic.

As other couples have noted, Uno, the owner and manager of the hotel, is a character. He plans everything, he books the rooms, he picks the wine - he's in charge. It can be scary when someone tells you, "sure, we'll fix the contract, no problem" and then you don't hear from him for a week. But if you can let go a little and trust Uno, he'll treat you right.

We only looked at one other venue before the Figueroa, and once we found the Fig, we were done. We loved the Moroccan style of the hotel and the fact that once you walked in, you forgot you were in LA. Plus, the outside of the hotel is really funky and made an excellent backdrop for pictures.

From the minute our guests arrived, they really felt like they were in an exotic foreign locale. Uno's decoration for the ceremony was absolutely gorgeous - I was blown away when I walked in and saw the room set up for the first time with what seemed like a thousand twinkling candles. The room glowed! We went outside the Rick's Place, a private bar, for cocktails and came back to the same room where we were married; in the interim it had been redressed into a sexy, candlelit dining room. The food was delicious, and even our less adventurous guests liked the Moroccan family-style feast. We then went downstairs and danced until 2am with DJ Shark, Uno's recommended DJ.

While there were moments during the planning where I was worried about unreturned phone calls, I would not trade the end result - an original, gorgeous wedding that people are still talking about.

The hotel is absolutely breathtaking and if you have ever been here you will know there is nothing comparable. It is a 1920's hotel turned into a Spanish-Moroccan palace that will make you feel as if you have stepped into the movie Casablanca. This was our first and only venue choice. Therefore we were very flexible and understanding with the Hotel Manager who coordinates the events (and also books all the hotel rooms, plans the decor, catering, and just about everything else related to this establishment). He is a man of few words and does not offer a plethora of choices. So if you are looking for someone to woo you by their customer service and ability to bend over backwards, I don't think you will find that here. Also I believe he is selective on who he allows to host events here. So knowing that going forward, we were completely at his mercy. And we were blown away at the final result. He did a beautiful job and everyone had a fabulous time. The food was fantastic (albeit a little too exotic for some of the less worldly guests) the candelabras and fireplace were stunning against the jewel toned ethnic draperies. The staff wore sequined costumes during dinner. It was a stunning and unique event that was perfect for us.
