Hotel Shattuck is a "chic & swanky" boutique hotel. The whole interior design gives a lot of personality, especially the red chandelier. Laura U., our banquet/catering manager, was awesome to work with. She was really helpful in providing a list of preferred vendors who were familiar with Hotel Shattuck. From start to finish, Laura, Chef Banks, and Shattuck's banquet staff were just easy and warm to work with. We knew we were in great hands. Laura help set-up the Crystal Ballroom for our reception. The dinner was amazing, the drinks were off-the-hook, and the service was so friendly and professional. We were truly blessed to have had this great venue for our wedding reception.

My husband and I had our wedding ceremony and reception at Hotel Shattuck Hotel in Berkeley. When we discovered this hotel in our on-line search and made an appt to view the hotel itself, we were both so pleased with the renovation and the quality of the staff. This hotel was closed for renovation for about two years and boy did they do a fabulous job in keeping some of the classic, vintage look and incorporating a modern feel to the whole ambience; and this is exactly what we decided on our wedding theme (vintage meets modern). Laura (the event coordinator at the hotel) as well as the rest of staff were polite, professional, flexible, and prompt with all our requests. All of our guests loved the place and we received so many great compliments on what a fantastic time they had on our BIG day!! =) I would highly recommend this place for any couple out there who are planning their wedding!

Holly Haber and her team were fantastic! She helped me arrange a wedding in four days, and it was beautiful. The food was good, and the bartender--a Welshman--was a kick. Holly helped me find vendors who could act quickly, and the evening was a total success. While not inexpensive, we felt the pricing was fair.

The courtyard was a perfect setting, with the screens, trees, and lights that we had brought in. And don't forget heat lamps--it is chilly in the evening in Berkeley.

Having my room block for my guests at this hotel is the only bad memory of my wedding I will have. They scheduled a closure of the restaurant and bar the weekend of my room block reservation without telling me, they told me 7 days before my wedding that I could not have the presidential suite that I reserved 10 months prior, a false fire alarm went off for 15 minutes on Saturday morning causing my guests with small children to have to leave the hotel with their kids in pajamas because they were freaking out at the noise, a number of my guests had to move rooms in the middle of the night because of broken A/C. And... the finale, my sister and brothers luggage was stolen, and we believe this was arranged by the hotel staff as it was placed in an unlocked room that had a door propped open leading to an alley (too coincidental). These are just the big things. My hair and makeup artists waited an hour for chairs to be delivered, there was no room service when they told me there would be, guests non smoking rooms smelled like smoke, they did not distribute my welcome bags correctly... the list goes on and on. With the issues before the event weekend, they refused to release me from my contract so be very careful of what you are signing if you do decide to take a chance and work with this hotel. I am truly saddened that a property is being so poorly run. I have never worried about storing my luggage with a hotel and cannot believe that the day after our wedding, this is what we are dealing with. As an aside, we checked our luggage at the same time as my siblings and had this been ours... that thief really would have made out considering we had tons of wedding related valuables in our bags. The hotel has refused to comp all of my guests rooms despite this experience and the owners of the hotel (BPR Properties in Palo Alto) have not returned any of my calls.
