  Great Wedding Photos

  We used JLV photography for our wedding and engagement photos. James also did some pictures for us when we got married in the park after our wedding got cancelled at the start of the pandemic. We just got our pictures back from the wedding and it’s been so much fun to look through the pictures! James did a great job capturing all the moments from the day. I love being able to see some of the details that I didn’t notice on the day of. He was very easy to work with and also professional. The pictures turned out beautiful and I would recommend them to anyone looking for a photographer!

  James did an amazing job with our photos. My husband has a large family, so those were pretty difficult to do, but we managed. I think the best pictures were the ones we weren't always expecting. We were able to see personalities shine through in a lot of them as well as people enjoying the food and the time to meet and socialize. James caught so many things on camera we would have missed out on otherwise. We are so thankful he could be part of our big day.

  Amazing photographer! Loves his work and his passion shows through his pictures. Easy going guy, great with my family even when they tried to take over with their own camera's. Patient and practiced, I can not wait to see the results!

  James did an amazing job and was very affordable. I love all the pictures and I loved the engagement shoot he did for us as well. I am definitely using him for any future photos I need taken.

  Finding a photographer was one of the most difficult vendors for us. We found so many talented photographers while researching, but we also found that most of them came with a hefty price tag. Then we found JLV Photography. Not only were we impressed by their portfolio, but found their pricing to be extremely reasonable and *gasp* within our budget! I called JLV to get an initial conversation started to see if we would be a good fit. I remember knowing right away that this would be our photographer after speaking with James. When I called him I had interrupted his afternoon of fishing with his son and father, but James still took a few minutes to answer my questions and have a chat with me. There was absolutely no pressure to book or set up a meeting. We ended up booking right away and setting up our engagement shoot. We had previously done an engagement shoot with another photographer and were displeased, so we came into the shoot with James with some high expectations. He was helpful at posing us and finding the locations that would look best instead of relying on us to pick out the spots and poses. Our engagement photos were returned back to us in a very short turn around and we loved the photos! On the big day James kept things light, he made suggestions where needed and listened to our wants and needs. Most importantly, he got all the major shots during the ceremony (first kiss, ring exchange, all the bridal party walking down the aisle, the giving away shot, and even a really cool "aerial" shot of the guests). He was so good half the time I didn't even realize he was taking photos of us! He told us it would take about 4 weeks to get the photos back, but I think it was only about 3 weeks when he contacted us to tell us they were ready. We got a disk full of all the photos he took and, to our surprise, a nice photo album with a bunch of printed shots (we were not expecting this). We are so happy we booked JLV and would recommend them to anyone!

  This was the best photographer ever! He was professional, fun, and gave us the best pictures we could have dreamed of! Best value for the price, no reason to pay four times as much, these photos were perfect!!

  James and Mellissa were absolutely fabulous. Everyone at the wedding commented on how great they were and we were beyond happy with our photos. They were great at making the kids look and smile for the camera. They went above and beyond - stayed an extra 30 min at no charge because they wanted to make sure they got photos of everything. It was an incredible value!

  James was, by far, the best money that we spent on the entire wedding! His photos were so amazing that most of them looked like they were done with a backdrop, when in fact they were done outside in the beautiful Colorado Rockies. Not only was James a good photographer, but he was an absolute delight to work with. He constantly got the guests to laugh so that their smiles were genuine. Everyone had a great time working with him ... which is especially important for the bride and groom since he's with you all day.
  
  Some extras that show how James went above and beyond: (1) prelim photo shoot to meet with him; (2) he provided a blowup shot from the prelim photo shoot at the reception with a large mat for guests to sign - much better than a traditional "guest book"; (3) willingness to try new places - we did our bride and groom shots at the top of Trail Ridge Road in RMNP even though our wedding was down in Estes Park; (4) he listened to what we wanted - we didn't want our landscape photos to blur out the background ... he provided us with amazing backdrops!
  
  I would absolutely recommend James to anyone for any occassion ... especially for outdoor photography! His prices are very competitive and fair, and you certainly get the best bang for your buck with him. We will be using him for many years to come for our yearly family shots!

  JLV is absolutely incredible. The owner and photographer, James, is wonderful to work with, and he takes the time to really make sure that he's meeting the needs/demands/wants of the wedding party. Additionally, he's really friendly and easy to work with.
  
  I'd recommend him to anyone for any event!

  Not only did James take beautiful photos, his personality shined at the wedding. The guests were so pleased with his willingness to jump in to get unique and creative photos at the reception. He won over even the most difficult guests to get a great smiling picture! He is one of the most talented photographers I've seen! Consider him for your wedding or family photos!

  We were elated to have James photograph our engagement session, wedding, and reception. I used this site to check out dozens of photographers, but we picked JLV for a few reasons: 1) price 2) his ability to take amazing photographs that are framed perfectly. What I mean by the second point is that he can take a look at what the view is and position people appropriately so that it makes a really pretty picture. It's much more difficult than lining people up and just taking pictures - he sees what will stand out, what will compliment the couple, and where to shift to get the most interesting picture.
  
  James' pictures did not disappoint! We love our photographs and were thrilled that he was able to capture so much even as a sole photographer. I was able to meet Mellisa, his wife, when I picked up my prints and she was so warm and kind. Mellisa touches up all the pictures and did a fabulous job.
  
  For the money we paid, we cannot believe the quality of photographs we received. I love that James was able to capture all the joyous moments on our special day. I uploaded a few photos showing how he moved us or props around to make the picture feel more intimate and special. You'd never know how tight those spots were, how there were parking lots or non-pretty parts of nature close by - all of his photos were framed wonderfully.

  I wouldn’t recommend

  After looking through the all the photos for the fifth time I have to say I am very disappointed. Most of the engagement photo poses were awkward. The wedding ceremony photos were from bad angles and poorly timed. For the reception, the photos seem to focus on one table; there are five photos of one fairly random couple and no photos of my aunts who had flown across the country to attend the wedding. I guess I should have made a list of priority guests for at least one photo? There were only 40 people so I assumed one photographer would be enough but he didn’t get photos of all the guests. There’s not a single shot that I love and for the price you’d think you’d get at least one... The grooms sister actually got some better shots on her iPhone.
