  Joy is such an amazing florist!!!! Not only that, she is so great to work with! She is so talented and put together our vision perfectly. So many people commented on how beautiful our flowers were and I could not agree more!!! Thank you, Joy!

  How can I say enough good things about Joy? She took on our wedding, which was at an unconventional time, when no other florist would. We're so glad we chose Joy! She designed flowers from my (the bride's) highly varied vision and they were amazingly beautiful. I received multiple comments from the bridal party and family about how beautiful the flowers were, and I couldn't agree more. They were more than I even imagined: stunning, artistic, and adapted to personal requests. Joy was kind, fun to work with, professional, good at communicating, and went beyond above and beyond my bridal bouquet dreams. Thanks so much, Joy!

  Joy is absolutely amazing! Highly recommend. In addition to being incredibly sweet and friendly, she is also tremendously talented. She transformed my reception venue with beautiful flowers and brought our vision to life. She even included the tiniest details like scattered petals and flowers on the cake that were so stunning. Could not be happier with her work and our experience. Thank you Joy!!

  Joy was an unbelievable florist. She was there the whole day making sure everything looked great. From planning with her to the actual day, everything was amazing. She made a gorgeous Chuppah for us and not to mention the bouquets were out of this world. I highly recommend working with her and her team!

  We were thrilled with the flowers Joy Charles designed for our wedding! They had gorgeous texture and we couldn't have been happier with them.
  We felt we got a lot of "flowers for our money" and her prices were very reasonable.
  Joy was very thoughtful in approaching the flower design with us ... it never felt like it was "just another wedding" she was working on.
  We made several adjustments to the floral proposal along the way and she was very accommodating. Highly recommend!

  The flowers were stunning! Joy did an amazing job of putting together the bouquets, floral centerpieces, table toppers, and decorations for the wedding ceremony and reception. When we met with her, we chose the flowers we liked and gave the vision of what we were looking for, and she pulled it together beautifully! I love flowers myself, and I was blown away by what she did. When we looked at photos from the wedding day, we enjoyed looking at the beautiful arrangements that helped enhance the beautiful venue where we had our wedding.

  Joy was my wedding coordinator in addition to handling all of my florals, ceremony decorations, reception centerpieces and most other decor, too. Many of her suggestions were incredibly helpful and things that I would not have thought of on my own. I did a lot of the organizing and making vendors selections myself, but then gave her all that compiled info, along with my timeline. She helped me assemble the timeline and provided me with vendor contacts for price quotes on rentals and such. I worked with Joy to plan my wedding in a 5-month time period, meeting at her studio about once a month to review countless details. We had a lot of fun at her studio coming up with creative solutions and ideas to my DIY approach. One of Joy's best qualities is her creative brilliance. She gave me so much insight into event planning that I would have otherwise been clueless about, and I definitely attribute much of the success of our wedding to her help. Joy worked through any catering and venue-related issues like a true professional, maximizing our limited set-up time. She was even by my side during our portraits with the photographer, to make sure I was holding the bouquet correctly, etc. It is now two months later and I still have friends and family members commenting on how beautiful everything was at our wedding. I would highly recommend Joy for both floral arrangements and event planning!

  I hired Joy for my wedding and she was fantastic to work with. She also was flexible and willing to work with my budget. I sent her pictures of ideas and flowers that were likely beyond my budget, but she managed to find and recommend ways to have my arrangements look like the images but kept right within my budget. My guests loved and commented how beautiful the arrangements were. The rooms she helped decorate looked beautiful!

Not only is she professional and meticulous in her attention to detail and planning, but she's also fun, laid-back and incredibly easy to work with. Joy has provided gorgeous floral arrangements for many of my couples (I'm a wedding photographer) and every single one of them is unique and reflects the style and personality of the couple perfectly. Her range of talents is vast - from bouquet design to event planning to wedding decor and concepting. You really can't go wrong with Joy! Her eye for what works and doesn't, organization and outstanding personality make her one of my favorite people to work with in the wedding industry!

She was there the whole month before to answer questions, attend to details and she made the process easy. The day of the wedding, she seemed to be everywhere checking to make sure everything was in place and ready to go.

  Joy was in absolute godsend in helping us plan our wedding and making our day amazing! She has an excellent eye for design and style and worked tirelessly to make sure that our day went off without a hitch and to put our ideas into practice.   Joy and Shauna were my wedding fairy godmothers! I had my initial meeting with Joy just 5 weeks before our wedding. We had a venue, Jefferson Memorial for the ceremony and Barns at Wolf Trap for the reception, picked out and pretty much nothing else! Joy and Shauna were up for the challenge. I told them my wedding colors (yellow and grey) and how we wanted a rustic theme. They listened to my vague ideas and built off of them. I was so excited to be marrying the love of my life and best friend but not as excited or confident about the wedding planning. They were so enthusiastic about the wedding that it was contagious! It went from a stressful thing to plan to an absolute "Joy", pun intended! They provided both day-of wedding coordinator services and also Floral Design. They went way, way above and beyond for both services. I shared pinterest pics with Joy with different ideas such as Shepard hooks with mason jar flowers down the aisle, burlap on the cocktail tables, DIY chalkboard menus etc and she took my visions and made them into a reality even better than I could have imagined! Shauna was with me for the entire wedding day from early morning when the bridesmaids and I were getting ready to the very last call at the end of the night. She has a sweet, even temperament that is very reassuring. She also knows how to be firm with vendors and makes sure the couple gets exactly what they want. She made sure EVERYTHING was taken care of and dealt with all the things that you do not want to deal with as the bride like limo driver coordination, telling the DJ to change songs because the vibe wasn't working, shuttle service coordination, after-party details, water for the bouquets between pictures, a toiletry basket for the ladies room, etc. Joy and Shauna worked very hard to make our wedding day the success that it was and they did it with a smile on their faces and genuine joy and excitement for us. I would recommend their services to anyone getting married in the DMV!

Shauna was with me for the entire wedding day from early morning when the bridesmaids and I were getting ready to the very last call at the end of the night. She has a sweet, even temperament that is very reassuring. She also knows how to be firm with vendors and makes sure the couple gets exactly what they want. She made sure EVERYTHING was taken care of and dealt with all the things that you do not want to deal with as the bride like limo driver coordination, telling the DJ to change songs because the vibe wasn't working, shuttle service coordination, after-party details, water for the bouquets between pictures, a toiletry basket for the ladies room, etc. Joy and Shauna worked very hard to make our wedding day the success that it was and they did it with a smile on their faces and genuine joy and excitement for us. I would recommend their services to anyone getting married in the DMV!

  I selected Joy Charles to do my floral arrangements after I found her information at a wedding salon event. When i viewed some of her work on her website it was amazing and I knew she had the creative vision i wanted for my wedding day bouquets. I met with her only once with some of my ideas and pinterest image boards and she knew exactly my vision of what i wanted. She did an amazing job recreating my vision and also putting her own spin on the bouquets for me and my girls. She also did a few arrangements for my ceremony and reception and those were beautiful as well. On the day of I had a last minute request to add a corsage for one of my special bridesmaids and she made it happen (created one) at a moments notice on site. Joy Charles provided great value for my floral budget and did an amazing job. I would definitely recommend her floral services.

  Recommend Joy for flowers!

  We found Joy through our venue as she had previously chalked on a dance floor at Eastern Market. Flowers were not a huge priority for us, but when we priced out the time and effort to do our own flowers, we decided it wasn’t worth it. Joy’s floral services were extremely reasonably priced for flowers in DC and she did a great job. If you are not overly particular about your flowers, Joy is a great choice. She took my vague ideas and really ran with them. We were also thrilled with the chalk dance floor. It made for some very cool photos. She really listened to our preferences and her flowers and dance floor made our venue feel extra special.

  I highly recommend Joy. We hired her for day of coordination and it was totally worth it. Some vendors wanted to charge us $3,000 or more for this service and with Joy we got two people for way, way less. Joy was always very responsive, professional, and super friendly. I totally agree with the other reviewer who said that you would want her as your friend.
  
  Joy also did our flowers and set-up the decorations. Everything wound up looking great. And again, she provided this service at an extremely reasonable cost. She was also flexible up until the last minute when I asked if I could add some red to my bouquet to match my fiance's tie, and she brought me a flower to wear in my hair.

  Joy was wonderful for our wedding. I'm going to write in two parts since she did Wedding Coordinating as well as Florist duties for our wedding.
  
  Floral- She did an amazing job here. I didn't have a super exact idea of what I wanted, all I knew is the type of flowers that I liked. She looked at tons of images on my Pinterest page and figured it all out. She had really great pricing and the flowers were absolutely beautiful on the day of. When we arrived and the flowers were right there I was blown away. It couldn't have been any more beautiful and amazing. The colors, textures, shapes.. everything was perfect. I had even seen an idea for corsages that could be tied on the wrist, and she used these beautiful white flowers, that I think were peonies, and gave them out to everyone and made the whole thing perfect. I loved it so much!
  
  Coordinating- I had a million ideas and she managed to take all of that and get it down to one central thing that really worked. In the end everything came together very perfectly and it was downright amazing. I was a little concerned in the few days before that eveything would come together. I will admit to being a person who doesn't like to do things last minute, so when there were still vases and candles to buy because another plan didn't work out, I got nervous. And at the last minute when we realized there wouldn't be enough time/manpower to hang up the globe lighting in the venue, I was worried that we wouldn't find a way to work it out. However, Joy was amazing at working with our vendors and our venue and got it all together and made it all come out perfectly. I think we worked really well together because I'm very visual, so I had millions of pictures and ideas and examples of things I liked. I think she is really great and seeing something and thinking of a way to incorporate that into what you're looking for.

  I just happened upon Joy's business when I was out looking for cake providers and after meeting with her and hearing about her philosophy and business model, I was so excited to work with her for my wedding day! She orders the flowers custom for your wedding and has thought through details like including an extra boutonniere for the groom in case one gets crushed from hugs, and a smaller bridal toss bouquet. If I were rating on the value of the flowers and the actual appearance if would be a 5 hands down! She even hand painted feathers for my arrangement--so gorgeous!
  
  The only concern that I really had was with the lack of responsiveness from Joy and her team in the months before the wedding. All of the booking is done through an online system and there seemed to be some issues there so I had trouble getting updates in like adding a corsage, etc. with confirmation. That said, in the final week before the wedding Joy reached out and went over all details, was flexible about adding on my requests I'd been making, and came through with delivery ahead of schedule on-site the day of the wedding. It all looked better than I expected and went smoothly!
