If you are looking for an exceptional makeup artist, you have to book Katrina Hess for your wedding! Katrina really takes her time to get to know the bride. You have two trials, and as someone that doesn't wear a lot of makeup on a daily basis, this was helpful and made me feel more comfortable with what to expect. Based on this alone you should hire her... However then the ultimate bride's worst nightmare happened to me... Very long story short, I had an accident and got a black eye two days before my wedding! It was swollen and completely black and blue! I saw Katrina and she worked miracles. You couldn't even tell that I had anything going on. She did such a beautiful job! We had her and her team come to our hotel and do makeup for the whole bridal party. It was such a fun morning and a pleasure to work with her from beginning to end! -
User2216532 Sent on 07/08/2015I thoroughly enjoyed working with Katrina Hess for my wedding. I got far more than a beautiful make-up application on my special day. Katrina expertly shaped my eyebrows and started me on a skin care regimen months before the wedding so that I would look my best. I was always happy with my skin, but her recommendations for skin care made my skin look so amazing that my sisters and many co-workers and friends started using the same products.
Katrina scheduled two full make-up sessions prior to the wedding to experiment with different looks and colors. She was attentive to my preferences, such as color choices and preferring lighter foundation. There were no surprises on my wedding day! She confidently told me that we needed the more dramatic eye we had practiced given the rainy day and darker lighting. I just sat and let her work her magic. I LOVED my make-up. Everyone who has seen my close-up shots asked who did my make-up and said Katrina did a wonderful job. She also did the make-up for my bridal party and two friends. They were just as happy.
As an added bonus, Katrina is warm and so easy to chat with. Going to her make-up studio is like visiting a friend. I highly recommend Katrina for your wedding or any special occasion. -

Sarah Sent on 04/23/2014Katrina is a true professional. She is also an incredibly talented make up artist and eyebrow shaper. I could not have felt more beautiful on my wedding day and my bridesmaids and mother were stunning as well! I never like the way I look in photos and with Katrina's help I couldn't be happier with my wedding photos ( my makeup lasted all night too, even through a two hour first look). Katrina's studio is beautiful and she offers top of the line skincare products and brow shaping. Katrina truly cares about how you will look and feel on your special day. She doesn't just show up the day of, she works with you in getting your skin and brows in shape months in advance. I would highly recommend Katrina to any bride who is truly looking for an artist and a professional to make her look her best on such an important day! -

Jordan Sent on 02/01/2013Katrina did my makeup for my January wedding and I have to say- I felt more beautiful on my wedding day than I ever had in my life thanks to her. I started going to her for my eyebrows (which is a must- she is amazing) and decided to splurge and use her for my wedding. Her prices are what they are for a reason- she is the BEST in Boston, hands down. We had 2 trials, both of which were beautiful but we decided on one for the big day. She also did my rehearsal dinner makeup and it was probably the second prettiest I ever felt in my life next to my wedding day! She is a true professional. And yes, she will recommend lots of products and they are not cheap, but honestly every single thing I bought from her has improved my skin or is a makeup product that I use daily. Katrina is so talented and for a day as special as your wedding day I can't see working with anyone else. -

Teresa Sent on 06/25/2010100% AMAZING!! I LOVE KATRINA!!! She is everything and more. She gives 2 consultations which is awesome. I needed 2 since I live in CA and got married in Boston. I had my first consultation in December and I definitely needed the 2nd one since I got married in June and was a little tanner than in December. She even recommended a dermologica to me and told me how to use it all and my face was so good for the wedding after just 6 months of use.
She did me (bride), MOB, MOG, and 3 bridesmaids. We all looked GORGEOUS!!! Everyone commented on how amazing everyone's makeup looked. Katrina is so professional and knew exactly how to do each girl's makeup.
She is a bit pricey but totally worth the expense!!!!!

Samantha Sent on 07/28/2011Katrina is a very talented make-up artist, but I was unhappy with a few things. First, when I went in for my trial, I asked her to do my eyebrows. At the end of the trial, she made me buy all of these products (no was not an option) and she charged me $50 for my eyebrows. I was horrified! Not to mention by the time of my wedding, which was a week later, I had to re-do them myself the day before. She had told me to not touch them but if I let them go until the day of, I would have been all red from getting them plucked for hours.
Also, I paid extra to have her work with 2 assistants, because there were 9 of us and we had to be ready by 9:30am. She walked in the morning of with just 1 assistant, and did not say a word about it. I didn't want to say anything and get worked up so I ignored it and just hoped we would be ready in time. On her way out she casually said, "Oh sorry about the third assistant, she called me this morning and is sick. Don't worry, I'll make it up to you and do your brows or something." Like $50 brows is what I wanted a second time around...
I emailed her and asked for my money back for the extra assistant fee. She gave me half back. I would not recommend, she is over-priced and pretentious.
