BOOK KATY. She not only took the most wonderful wedding photos, but was so fun to work with. The energy she brings is exactly what you want on your wedding day. Every single guest at our 64 person wedding mentioned how fantastic our photographer was.
As a couple, we generally don’t like taking pictures as we feel awkward most of the time. (What do I do with my hands?!)
Katy made us feel so comfortable, but was also able to give us the instruction we needed to get the best possible photos. The candids are phenomenal, the dance photos are spectacular. All the photos are incredible, we look incredible in them- and it’s 100% because of Katy.
Our wedding day was shot in the most beautiful way, with photos that match how we felt - magical. The turn around time was unbelievably quick, and the amount of photos is amazing.
YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED. -

I thought I'd write this review immediately after my wedding. I always love scrolling through Instagram and seeing another sneak peek from another gorgeous wedding Katy has just photographed and then days later she would post a darling, eloquently written review by the couple. This always made me smile because I could feel the joy and appreciation in their kind words and Katy deserves every accolade! Alas, here I am, almost four months since the unforgettable weekend Katy spent documenting the love my husband and I share. Just like this untimely review, when planning a wedding it's important to remember that not everything will go exactly to plan, and that's ok!
Katy taught Charles and I to drink in the salty negative ions at the beach, laugh about the late guests, lean in to the feelings of the here and now, share secrets about future heartbeats, cherish fleeting moments with friends, and mutually gush about how much we love this little piece of heaven we call home.
Katy is so much more than an experienced professional and creative wedding photographer (although she is definitely those things too). Katy can be a fly on the wall or a shoulder to cry on and she knows exactly when to be which. If you are reading this review I think it probably goes without saying that you have explored her portfolio and maybe even stalked her Instagram and have melted into her genuine and emotive photographic form of expression. You might even know that she has a darling husband with an afinity for DIY, a spindly and perfect greyhound, an obsession with bird watching and an introspective tendency for stunning self portraits. So what insider insight can I possibly provide you with that adequately adds to Katy's multifaceted fan base? How can I be your little drop of bridal wisdom?
You get once chance at pulling that beautiful wedding vision out of your brain and letting it materialize in the waking world. One chance at showing your loved ones what color your heart is, what specific shade of sunlight illuminates your dreams, and what it feels like when your partner holds you in that embrace that feels like home.
From the moment you book Katy as your wedding photographer she will help you and your partner move between the swirling dream world in your head and the ever-faithful gravity of reality without missing a beat.
Someday, when the dust has settled and the thank you cards have been sent you will pull out the wedding album you and Katy created and splash back into the feelings of your favorite day. In those private moments, when you feel a little smile creep across your face or a salty tear slip from your cheek, Katy has fulfilled one of her many, irreplaceable purposes on this earth. We are SO happy we found Katy! We hired her for our wedding this summer in Black Butte and we couldn't be happier. From our first conversation to the day of the wedding she was professional, kind and fun to be around. We had never had professional photos taken and she immediately made us feel comfortable and ourselves, so thankful for that! There were so many people at the wedding that told us how kind and amazing Katy seemed, we agree! We loved her before we even saw any photos and then we saw photos and were even more blown away! The way she captured our day, our love and all of our people is something we'll forever be so grateful for. Thank you for everything Katy :) -

Look no further! Hiring Katy to capture our wedding was one of the best decisions we made. Leading up to the wedding, Katy conveyed genuine interest in our individual experience, e.g., asking details about our love story and offering to talk on the phone multiple times to work out details and answer any questions I had. I also loved referring to her blog to see example timelines, advice, etc. On wedding day, Katy was kind, efficient, professional, and innovative. She was so good at quickly going through photo lists such that people didn't sit around for too long or anything. We spent a very minimal amount of time on posed photos, which was absolutely perfect, as Katy caught so many special candid moments. She also got to know everyone pretty quickly such that she was always there to notice and capture little key exchanges. One thing I know Katy will offer to anyone is capitalizing on the positive uniqueness of your wedding, running with that, and not comparing to tradition, what "usually" happens, etc. She was so present for what we were doing and what felt right to us. This is so evident in the photos, which I will let speak for themselves. I cannot wait to have them on our walls forever. I could go on and on. Thank you, Katy! -

Katy is soooooooo talented and I’m obsessed with my photos. Let me tell ya, as someone who doesn’t know what to do when it comes to being in front of a camera, I felt so comfortable with Katy and was able to relax and enjoy the process. She has a great eye for incredible shots that I never would have thought of and I am beyond happy with the end result (as proof her photos are hanging throughout my house). Thank you Katy for capturing memories that now I can have with me forever, you are so talented. Seriously, if you haven’t already booked her, do it. You won’t regret it! -

Engagement photos and wedding
Katy Weaver is beyond words incredible! Here are the things I love about Katy:
1. Her incredible eye/talent with her camera: we live in Chicago and despite throwing her into a whole new environment to shoot in (including some indoor photos) she was able to on the fly assess the scene for the perfect lighting/backdrop. It was a horrible day with rain and clouds, but that didn’t matter—Katy was able to find the perfect time to go out to Lake Michigan and get some incredible shots (some of the best I’ve seen of the lake even).
2. Her personality: from our first phone chat I felt like we were already friends! She is so easy to talk to and really put us at ease (which helps with normally awkward couples like us!). She knew just how to get us relaxed and really have fun!
3. Her professional skills: Katy is incredibly responsive to all forms of contact and super fast and efficient at getting her edits done. She even got them to us before we wanted them! Also she is super serious about her work and walked us through all the ways she would keep our photos safe and backed up.
Overall if you are considering her DO IT! She is amazing and we love working with her! -

Not only did Katy document our wedding in Cuba but she documented the entire full day trip. She made us both feel so much more comfortable in front of the camera --yet still comfortable being ourselves. Katy has great attention to detail and intuition when it comes to lighting, location, etc. We could not have asked for a better photographer and I know these memories will be ones we cherish forever. It has been almost three months since our wedding, and I have not written a review for Katy because I have not found the time to do her even an ounce of justice. I never imagined I would be so lucky to find not only an unreal photographer, but a guide and a friend in Katy. No matter where you are in the world, I strongly suggest with all of my heart that you consider this inspiring woman as your photographer for whatever your needs may be. Besides deciding to marry my husband, having Katy as our photographer might have been the best decision of my life! The love and warmth she exudes in person are just as intense and amazing as the love and warmth she captures. Any anxieties you may have about being photographed, or about your wedding in general, are completely eased when Katy enters the picture.
From helping us solidify our vision, to being our saving grace in a difficult time, to delivering sneak peeks THE NIGHT OF the wedding (and Rehearsal Dinner sneak peeks the night before!), to making us feel loved, to effortlessly becoming a part of our family, Katy was an integral part of making our wedding so magical! I often question whether or not she was real!
Though we are immeasurably grateful for all of her photos and hard work, the most amazing thing about Katy is that she is a kind, warm, wonderful Weaver of whimsical dreams (:P) who made our super-awkward-behind-a-camera selves feel so excited about being photographed!! She reminded us what was happing in a time where everything felt like a blur, that we were making history and celebrating the unique love we’d been building for so long! She fostered so much joy and laughter in us and our family just by being herself, and somehow managed to capture it in otherworldly photos along the way! Because of Katy’s photos and styles, her stories, the ways she celebrates love, her moods, and her incredibly kind and welcoming, down-to-earth self, our wedding was elevated to a plane of existence we hoped, but didn’t know, existed! I don’t think I can ever repay her for what she has done for us, but I hope by spreading her story and her work I can help her make the kind of lovely magic the world needs!

We originally hired Katy because of her eye for beautiful compositions, moody shots, and earthy, natural images. What we actually received was SO much more. She helped us in the early stages to outline our day, explained every piece of the process so that we felt comfortable and knew what to expect, and was professional from start to finish. Katy is not only a great photographer, but also a fun and lovely human who WANTS to know your story, interacts with guests comfortably and joyously, and can take charge of a photo shoot without hesitation to get the best shots possible (let’s face it- wedding days are a bit chaotic and everyone can be a bit scattered!). Katy is also very versatile -- she effortlessly captured beautiful artsy and formal photos of our ceremony, as well as some of the best candids of our party! The investment in preserving the memories of our wedding day has been worth every single penny and more. You won’t be disappointed. -

Eileen Sent on 07/15/2018Artistic, insightful, organized and gracious. The whole experience with Katy was such a pleasure and a gift that will keep on giving. We planned a low-budget wedding in a park, so this was our single biggest expense. So here's my advice, low-budget wedding people: spend money on Katy. Absolutely worth it. We got some kickass wedding pictures where we both look good, but we also have these amazing portraits that capture the essence of those we love. We also got to see the wedding and reception from different perspectives. Guests told us how much they liked the photographer too. I chose her because she's incredibly gifted at incorporating nature into her images, so if you're thinking nature, she's your person. She was responsive, experienced, consultative and a truth-teller. She manages her business with honesty, integrity and no surprises.

From Smith Rock and a snowscape near Mount Bachelor for engagement photos to our wedding at Suttle Lake (yes we stumbled into a canoe), Katy always manages to capture the best of our emotions. We will cherish these photo experiences forever. Overall, Katy is a bad ass woman and photographer. -

Lauren Sent on 01/03/2017I've had the pleasure of working with Katy twice already, once for professional headshots and then again when she captured my surprise proposal-turned-engaged photos last summer. I had been following her on social media for some time and knew I loved the end result of her work, so I was thrilled to find out she is equally wonderful behind the scenes. She is great at both capturing candid moments as well as giving clear direction for posing. She is especially skilled at suggesting subtle tweaks that make you look your best, and helped my camera-shy fiance relax and enjoy having his picture taken (this is very rare).
She will be traveling with us to photograph our destination wedding this coming April (her traveling fees are extremely reasonable), and I have all the confidence in the world that we will adore every picture she captures. She is very straight forward with her directions which I know will be a valuable skill in wrangling our large family for group pictures all the while remaining friendly and professional.
Worth every penny. I would recommend her to anyone! -

She has an awesome eye and is able make any place you are shooting look beautiful. She is very professional and timely with all communication and is prompt with getting the photos back to you when agreed upon. We took a few extra moments after our wedding ceremony to do a few more couple shots and we can't believe how wonderful they turned out. Katy made us look and feel like royalty and we highly recommend her to anyone looking for an awesome photographer no matter where you live! Thanks Katy!!
