  Kindred Soul Photography - Amber Martin

  
  Amber is just everything you need in a photographer and more. She's your hype girl, friend to lean on, confidence booster, an honest opinion, and everything in between. She finds the best shots, most creative ideas and perfect angles to make sure you get the photos you really want; and sometimes the photos you didn't even know you NEED! She listens to your concerns, and completely assures you that she's got it under control (and she does!). She's super experienced and brings her Amber flair to every shoot - she makes you feel super comfortable in front of the camera, and is constantly going the extra mile for her clients. My bridal party was obsessed with her fun and laid back personality! I truly couldn't have hired a better photographer for my wedding, she cut out so much of the stress for me and I could enjoy my day without worrying about photos for a second, because I can always count on Amber to bring the magic! She can truly do it all, from the romantic, moody shoots to light and airy, golden hour photos; she just kills it every time. On top of having an extremely talented photographer, I could also completely be myself around her and I felt like she just gets me. I didn't just have a wedding photographer, I had a friend behind the camera! She's the best!

  I can't decide because I love all my pictures!

  What can't I say about Amber Martin? She is pretty much the best thing ever and I am not just saying that because I am her office manager. I had already booked her as my photographer and become her friend before I started working for her. I had no doubt that my pictures would be spectacular. She is hilarious and loves her job. If you do not hire her, I will hunt you down...just kidding...kinda. Haha but for real! HIRE HER!

  2021 Wedding

  We absolutely loved our wedding photos from Sydney and Amber and get compliments about them ALL THE TIME. The price was fair for the quality of photos we received. They also just have beautiful energy that makes it easy to feel comfortable around them. I think the main criticism I have is communication and timeliness. They did take a little while on some of the smaller details so it did delay the ability for the boys to take pictures before the wedding like we had planned. I will also say their business was going through growing pains initially with them starting a business together, to then splitting into separate businesses. I think we had some issues with getting timely responses for things which was frustrating at times. I will say they did give me an extra photo shoot to help remedy this, which I really appreciated. They also took a lot of ownership for the issues in communication.

  Great photographer; poor communication

  It hurts me to write this review because we really loved Amber but I have to be honest. She was so friendly and so energetic, she was really excited to shoot at our wedding and we were really excited. She was one of the first vendors we hired. We live in NJ so planning a wedding in Houston was challenging as a lot of communication was via text or email. We really relied on communication. A year before the wedding we flew to Houston to take our engagement photos in downtown Houston. The day of the shoot it was just raining most of the day so we were already in a mood. She then told us she had a emergency and would not be able to make it so she sent her assistant. We were upset but we got over and labeled it as “shit happens” her assistant Heather did really good. Fast forward a year, the weekend of the wedding and we and all our 120 guest flew in from NJ to attend. We met with our DJ Darrin and Melissa from Re-Spin, who are absolutely amazing, and Amber at a Startbucks for one last details meeting which went very well. The day of the wedding was great. They all were on time and everything was just great. Amber took a lot of pictures that day. Fast forward 2 months after the wedding and we haven’t gotten our pictures which was fine but I did want a status update. I reached out via email, no answer. Text a few times, no answer. Then she finally responded and said that she was almost done with our pictures and that we would have them the following week. That got us excited especially after the first couple times not responding which had us nervous but when she told us it’s almost ready we were happy. We did not hear back from her again for about a month and a half after that.. now we were fuming. And then out of the blue she emailed us and apologized like nothing happened and sent us our pics. Not really an explanation just kinda like here you go. The pictures did come out amazing and we were happy to have them (even tho there were pics I took with certain guest that we never received) but we were just to upset to even respond. So overall the quality of product was great but the business side not so great. Poor communication is not a good thing. And it sucks because we thought she was such a sweet person. We are a bit at fault too because after the wedding we read her reviews and it seems like we are not the only ones who had an issue like this apparently this happen a few times. Well this was my honest review

  Poor Communication

  I loved Amber, up until after the wedding. She took our engagements and my bridals and the photos were stunning, I have no complaints. However, her communication is terrible. It was hard to get in contact with her before the wedding, but after the wedding, she completely ghosted us. I got one response, two months after the wedding saying we would receive our photos that weekend. We didn't get them until a month later with absolutely no update in between. I understand editing photos is time-consuming, but it was SO stressful wondering why she would not respond to my text messages/calls/emails. The photos did turn out great, but she loses lots of points in my book for communication.

  Truly disappointed.

  I hired Amber as a recommendation from my amazing wedding planner/coordinator, so expected her to be just as awesome or better. Weddings are expensive and an investment, so I expect to get a good return on it. At the beginning for our engagement pics all was cool and I feeling confident about using her services.
  
  My wedding was kinda still during the height of covid, but everything seemed to be going well until the week of my wedding when I rec'd a text from her that she was not going to be able to shoot at my wedding bc she wasn't feeling well. I obviously was upset bc my contract was with her, but I had to be understanding of the situation too.
  
  What I didn't like was I had to trust a colleague of hers (Heather) who I had never met and didn't meet until my wedding day to take the best pictures possible. She did mediocre, and didn't capture very many couples pics nor family pics. (So glad I had relatives and friends who brought cameras. Most took better pics than the paid photographer, but I didn't pay them, I paid Kindred Souls for quality pics). She kinda rushed through our main pics and all the outdoor pics are hideous.
  
  Amber stated though she couldn't shoot my wedding, she'd do the editing, but she was sooo hard to get a hold of regarding status of my prints and just communication PERIOD! My wedding was in September and I didn't get my photos till mid December. I'd say I'm patient, but 4 months is ridiculous. When I sent my favorites back to her for editing I advised her they were not the clearest they could be and were too dark and to reedit. Here we are at the end of February and I still haven't heard back from Amber. Truly UNprofessional, poor customer service and a bad look on this business. They don't have to worry about me referring ANYONE to them! A waste of close to $1800, sigh.

  Unprofessional

  I have never in my life met someone so unprofessional in my life. This one takes the cake. Very unprofessional, non responsive and all around have no care in the world for what others have paid her. We were suppose to have photos with in 2 weeks and it’s going on a month now.
