    My Wedding was Perfection

Alyssa Carrigan was our wedding Event Manager and did such an amazing job. We had no issues with this venue and we are both so pleased. Our day was even more magical than we could've ever imagined. I would highly recommend any event here, especially a beach wedding.

They are the only Hotel that do a reception right on the sand!! Their Location is great too, being in La Jolla itself is a plus!

    Stunning Beach Wedding Venue!

La Jolla Shores Hotel was the perfect venue for our beach wedding vision. We had the ceremony on La Jolla Shores beach. It was the perfect day - the sun was shining and the water was glistening blue and green. Kelly at La Jolla Shores Hotel asked beachgoers to move so as not to block the beach views from our ceremony, and they did! Our cocktail hour was outside on the beautiful Garden Patio and the dinner reception was also outside on the Shores Patio with perfect views of the beach and sunset. Our guests complemented the food - with the lobster ravioli being the fan favorite. Kelly, the venue coordinator, was responsive and easy to work with. If you want a beach wedding in San Diego with the potential for stunning sunset photos, this is the venue for you!

I had my wedding at this venue on 9/22. The service was amazing, the venue was beautiful, and the food was amazing. Kelly Zavala, the catering manager was very responsive and helpful the entire time. My special day was perfect because of her. Even when something wasn't just right, she always knew how to make it better. I highly recommend this beautiful venue, great service, and their amazing food.

I cannot even begin to express the warmth and gratitude I feel for this place and these people who run it. My wedding quite simply would not have even been a possibility if I had not found this truly unique, amazing, gorgeous space. Fantastic service and genuinely amazing people! I would give them all a high five and a hug if I could!!! THANK YOU FOR MAKING MY DREAM A REALITY!!!!

We had a small beach ceremony at Windansea and were looking for a reception location where we could host a nice wedding dinner. We had 28 guests and didn't need all the hoopla of a normal reception, just a nice place where we could have a toast, have a wonderful meal together and have our wedding cake.

We had planned to use another location for our wedding dinner but three weeks before our wedding that location fell through for various reasons. Now, just weeks from our wedding I started looking again and realized the dining room at La Jolla Shores hotel had meal options that were within our budget and exactly what we were looking for. I sent an email that day and Leslie replied to my email at 7:45 a.m. the next morning - not even 24 hours from when I contacted them with my predicament and questions! Simply amazing!! Leslie was professional and so helpful and within just a week we had made all the plans for our dinner reception.

I cannot say enough good things about the whole experience. This location is very special for our family and Leslie knew about that and made everything flow so smoothly. The food was amazing - the best steak dinner I have had in ages and the fish option was loved by everyone that ordered that selection. Everyone had an awesome view of the ocean and got to watch the sunset. I smile everytime I think about how wonderful of an evening it was. Leslie was even able to have the staff help fix our wedding cake which got damaged on the way over (a car pulled in front of our friends' car who were bringing the cake from the bakery.)

Leslie and the whole team went above and beyond in every way. Excellent service from start to finish with amazing food and views. I am so happy we got to have our wedding reception/dinner here and I look forward to many anniversaries there as well.

Our wedding and reception was fantastic. Our catering manager was very helpful with ideas, and very communicative. We asked to make several substitutions to our buffet menu to accommodate our guests, and it was very easy to do so. Our guests also raved about how yummy the food was! The staff was very helpful during our weekend there for our wedding. You definitely need to hire a day-of-coordinator to help with the details.

Wonderful experience for our small wedding

Alyssa was fantastic in helping us plan our small wedding ceremony and dinner. The day of, I got very sick and she was very gracious, offering to move the ceremony inside. We settled on the patio outside so that we could still see the beach, and she was very accommodating with the changes. Our guests raved about the food (filet, butterfish, and butternut squash), and had a great time. I would 100% recommend this hotel for your wedding!

Excellent location and staff is very helpful and attentive. The wedding coordinator is on top of everything, leaving very little for a bride to stress out about! Food was very good and service went off without a hitch. Very accommodating and good value for the beautiful landscapes.

I planned a destination wedding, visiting the site only 3 times. We fell in love with the venue and it was a perfect beach wedding for us. However, over the course of a year, our contact changed 3 times. Every time the person changed, something in our 'contract' changed. Small details changed that were not in the contract. Be sure on include EVERY LITTLE THING with these people. The time they tell you that you will be able to set up, what qualifies for a vendor meal and if that includes ALL options or just pasta, chicken, etc. Whether or not they are treated as a guest or have to eat seperate from you reception. They did not honor somethings that had been originally promised to me and 1 week before my wedding dropped the bomb on me that because of that, I would have to pay an extra $500. They also do not have a space to get ready, only give you a room that is comp'd. This would normally be okay but for large parties I suggest getting two rooms - we were way to cramped and it was stressful having so many women in one room. I would recommend it this only because it was beautiful and I had amazing family and friends to help me, had I been relying on the hotel - I would have been screwed. The front desk staff were wonderful and very accomadating.

This vendor was fabulous in all areas. The only thing missed was this: my fiancé and I were put in a room with two beds (for our wedding night!). I requested a new room which we were moved into. However, there were supposed to be strawberries and champagne delivered the wedding night and it was sent to the old room we were no longer in. I had friend who even wanted to make sure we received these items, and we didn't, not even the next morning. It was a little disappointing.

We had our beach wedding and reception at the La Jolla SHores Hotel and it was amazing! Stephanie and the staff were great at answering all my questions during the planning process and were always responsive to my requests. I was disappointed in the Acapulco Room during the reception because the air conditioning broke and did not get fixed in a timely manner so a few guests were hot until the sun went down. Otherwise, the food was awesome and we couldn't have picked a better place for our destination wedding!

Beautiful location, personable and helpful staff. The day was great! Only challenges are the two-night minimum for accomodations and limited liability on premise. I would recommend this vendor/location, but encourage having a "day of" planner to take care of the nuances.

Wanted to Love it, but so Disappointed

We were married at La Jolla Shores Hotel (LJSH) on October 7th, 2024. We first toured the venue in December of 2022, and booked the venue in March of 2023.

    Strengths:
    - Beautiful Spanish architecture
    - Handle permit acquisition for beach wedding
    - Ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception all in one location
    - Rentals (chairs, tables, etc.) for ceremony/cocktail hour/reception all included
    - Shores patio & La Jolla room venue allows for dancing separate from people who want to sit and chat, making for a very functional space
    - Hotel is right on the water with gorgeous views

    Weaknesses:
    - event coordinator (Shelby) is super disorganized and unprofessional (tried to double charge and introduce undiscussed charges to final balance on multiple occasions; got the same details wrong over and over again about the package we purchased, requiring us to correct her on the same mistakes multiple times; it got so bad that we had to meet and call with her bosses multiple times leading up to the wedding to make sure everything was prepared)
    - they forgot our rehearsal and didn’t set up at all, despite us giving them 4 months heads-up on the date and time
    - Shelby (event coordinator) said the sand will be groomed and that they will provide carpet along the aisle to help my grandparents walk on the sand, and she showed us photos on her iPad of what it would look like; there were no carpets or groomed sand on the day of the wedding (she lied)
    - Hotel rooms are really outdated and 80’s looking, with few outlets
    - Promised to bring hot water to the groom’s room so he can have tea while getting ready, but didn’t
    - bonus comments: during the final walkthrough, the bathrooms smelled TERRIBLE, and during meetings with the catering directors due to Shelby’s unprofessionalism, there was dog poop on the patio floor and the catering directors were unbothered by it

Unfortunately, this added a lot of unnecessary stress to our wedding day and wedding week.
