Engagement and wedding rings - perfect!

I got my wife’s engagement ring and wedding band from Laura. We had checked out a few other jewelers and working with Laura and the team was the best experience. I was clueless about diamonds but they explained everything very clearly and I never felt any pressure. The rings are beautiful - exactly what we were looking for - and they get complimented all the time. Thank you, Laura!

Laura and her team are wonderful!

I originally found Laura from Boston Magazine searching for local, ethical jewelers when my now fiancé asked me what style of ring I'd like. I knew I wanted a unique ring that wasn't from a big box store like Kay's or even the more typical jewelers like Longs or Tiffanys. I immediately fell in love with her Laurel design - I liked the feeling of nature it evoked with the leaves motif and that it felt vintage, but was made just for me. My fiancé worked with Laura's team who were responsive and gracious. After that first experience, we returned to buy both his and my wedding bands! Laura's team was great about entertaining us on two occasions where we stopped by to browse for them. I purchased his early after he found one he loved and had it engraved, too. My wedding band has just been finished and I can't wait to pick it up. I can say confidently that for any fine jewelry needs in the future, we will definitely think of Laura and her team.

    Thank you Laura!

We were so lucky to find Laura! My now-husband did so much research before proposing, and knew that I would appreciate that Laura Preshong is a locally, female-owned shop that uses ethically sourced materials in all of her jewelry.

My engagement ring is beautiful. Laura worked with my husband to customize an already existing design and make it truly one-of-a-kind. I've had multiple people comment that it is the most beautiful ring they have ever seen. Because we had such a positive experience, we went back there to buy our wedding bands, as well as for the emerald earrings that I wore during the ceremony. I had a slight problem with my wedding band and engagement ring not stacking the way I thought they would, and Laura worked with me to make sure it was absolutely perfect and that I was getting the rings I dreamed of.

I was fortunate to meet Laura a couple times in the shop, and she was so kind and positive! A truly delightful person! We were also lucky to have Alexis as our main point of contact throughout the process - she was attentive to details, super fast at communicating, and great at helping us throughout the shopping process.

I truly cannot imagine having had a more positive experience, or ending up with a more beautiful ring set. Laura has gained a lifetime customer!

Our experience with Laura Preshong was nothing short of superb! We went into their shop to Laura and Jenni with a couple different pictures of engagement rings and asked them to blend the different ideas and styles together -- a risky endeavor to be sure. They not only managed to combine multiple distinct styles into one ring, but did it with such success that we were getting non-stop compliments on it. When it came time to choose our wedding bands, we didn't have to think twice about where to go. Even 10 months after buying the engagement ring, both Laura and Jenni not only remembered the ring design (and even the styles of rings that went into it), but they were able to help us pick out perfectly complimenting wedding bands. Their service was both timely and responsive. We would definitely return to them for any other jewelry that we might need in the future.

These women are a pleasure to work with. They can make you pretty much anything you want, and are very quick to respond. They usually have things ready in just a couple weeks. We bought our wedding bands and my wedding earrings from them. All three we had custom made, and it was really fun to work with them to design those pieces so they felt like us.

    Beautiful, Delicate Designs

Beautiful, delicate engagement rings that had exactly what I was looking for! I didn't want any of the designs from the big box jewelers, they all felt too overdone. Laura's designs are stunning and unique. We felt so good shopping here - not only because it has ethically-sourced jewelry, but also because the atmosphere was so friendly and helpful! Obviously we have never shopped for an engagement ring before, and Alexis was so helpful and patient with us. We chose the Blythe setting almost immediately, and then spent some time picking out the center stone, we could not be happier. I stare at my beautiful ring all day!

Laura Preshong is truly an amazing place. The custom rings we selected for our big day are nothing short of spectacular. They strove to meet our deadline and always had a smile doing it. It was great to find a place that was so happy to produce custom jewelry that we didn't have to wonder about the origins of. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for unique, ethical bridal jewelry that won't break the bank!

I cannot say enough amazing things about Laura Preshong. My now husband found them for my engagement ring, knowing that I would not want a mass-produced, traditional ring. The ring he found is absolutely gorgeous, and absolutely me (halo paved with champagne diamond, hammered band). It is from recycled materials with a fair trade diamond. For a girl who did not think she even cared about a ring, he managed to find one that I am completely obsessed with. :) I get complements on it all the time. So of course I went back to LP for the wedding band. It fits perfectly with my engagement ring, and they tailored the ring so that it would match. If the uniqueness and gorgeousness of the jewelry isn't enough, the service was stellar as well. They remembered my fiance's name almost 8 months after the engagement when I came in to look at bands. Every employee that I have met or spoken with has been friendly and incredibly helpful. It's clear that they take pride in the beautiful work. Love everything about this store & products!

Laura and her assistant Hannah were a spectacular part of our engagement and wedding. We went into Laura's shop looking for rings by a different artist whose work she carries, and ended up choosing a ring that she created for us herself. She worked closely with us to determine exactly what we wanted and made us a ring that surpassed our expectations. When we were ready to purchase wedding rings we went back to her and she again created extraordinary, perfectly personalized rings that reflected our personalities and wishes. She is an incredibly talented artist and a lovely person. Laura and Hannah made us feel so special and they will forever be a beautiful part of our love story!

    Nightmare custom rings

We had custom wedding rings made by Laura Preshong. We were so excited to work with her because of her focus on ethical and recycled sourcing. Sadly, it was a terrible experience from the moment we made our first payment to finish.

There were a few red flags that we shouldn’t have ignored:
    1. Right after our initial payment, another couple entered the store. To our surprise, they were greeted much more warmly than we were. We started to notice that their questions were more generously answered and encouraged. We are a mixed race couple, my wife is not white. All the other clientele that came in while we were there were white. I didn’t think much of it until I noticed the way Laura interacted with my wife. She kept a close eye on my wife as she perused the store despite seeming unconcerned by the other customers looking around. When my wife did try to interact with her, Laura was impatient and terse, sometimes appearing to ignore her despite her being obviously audible. Laura was more polite and engaged with me.
Once, my wife had to go into the store alone for an appointment. She was nervous because of how acerbic Laura had been, so she called me and had me listen in from her pocket. Over the phone, I heard Laura yelling at her. It was appalling.

    2. Before we agreed to the custom process, we asked how many design iterations were permitted. We were told that we would iterate until it was right. We should have asked for a more specific policy.

    3. The first designs sent to us were exactly what we said we didn’t want. My wife had a very clear vision of what she wanted - she even had a preexisting ring we were using as a base design for an engagement ring. They completely ignored the example ring we brought in and appeared to only apply the details and styling that we said we didn’t like.

    4. When we expressed disappointment with the initial designs, we were told that we should make space for their artistry. Even though this was a ring we were commissioning, it felt like we had little say in how it turned out. Laura’s team made it clear that it was more important that they designed something in their style.

We went along with their process and tolerated slow iterations on designs we did not like and had explicitly said we didn’t want because of their insistence that they wanted to put their own touch in. However, suddenly when the third designs were sent over, we were told that they were final and that they don’t iterate beyond three designs. This was a shock, given that we had specifically asked about this at the start of the process and were told that there was not a limit.

We were also not entirely satisfied with the design when the 3D print arrived but were told that it was too late to make changes. This should not have been the case.

The ring arrived incorrectly sized (by more than one whole size) despite my wife being sized by them during the design process. When we asked for the ring to be adjusted to match the initially specified size, we got a lot of pushback.
When we got the ring back, we noticed that the stone had been slightly damaged. When we inquired about this, Laura refused to accept any responsibility and blamed us. We let this go at the time simply because we were tired of dealing with her bad attitude.

However, we later went to another jeweler for resizing and were told that given the setting style, the stone was under a lot of pressure and was at risk of chipping when it was resized. (It did chip again when being resized the second time.) This was contrary to Laura’s claims and leads us to further believe that the stone was damaged when she originally resized the ring and that she was dishonest about it.

All in all, this is not what a custom design experience should be. Not a single aspect of this went right.

BUYER BEWARE! Terrible customer service and quality

I could not be more disappointed with my engagement ring experience with Laura Preshong. Within a year, my ring bent and lost stones multiple times. After receiving no sympathy or support from Laura Preshong, we finally decided to cut our losses (almost $3K just for the band!!) and have my ring rebuilt by another jeweler. I told Laura Preshong this and received a short and dismissive response. To add insult to injury, just a month later they reached out to my fiance and asked if he was ready to purchase my wedding band from their shop. They clearly need to take better notes on their clients, as we made it abundantly clear that we would never be stepping foot in their store again.
