Hello,
My name is Emily and I feel like my WONDERFUL experience with the Aquarium needs to be shared:
My aunt was very recently diagnosed with terminal cancer and was given 6 months to live. (My aunts name is Sharon) I contacted the Aquarium too see if we could come in a few minutes early to see the new butterfly exhibit before they opened because Sharon can't be around kids and crowds (due to her cancer).
When I contacted the Aquarium they arranged for my family including my 90 year old grandfather, to have a private tour a few hours before they opened on February 5, 2018. They made arrangements for Sharon and us to not only see the butterflies but the whole Aquarium! They arranged for my aunt to hold the butterflies, witness the sloths lounging and we were able to meet Uno the penguin in person! We were just wanting to get Sharon to the butterflies while she felt healthy enough and they went above and and beyond!
They arranged for their most experienced educator (Robert) to meet us and told us all about the amazing creatures the Aquarium housed! For the time in a long time, my family and aunt didn't think about cancer or the time she has left. My family and I got to feel like old times before Sharon was sick.
Hearing that a loved one is terminally sick is one of the worst things you can experience and it's been really hard to find reasons to smile and laugh. This tour gave my whole family reasons to smile, laugh and be worry free. This was truly a family memory I will always treasure.
Thank you,
-Em

We had a dinner reception with about 130 people at the aquarium. It was perfect. I was a little worried when our wedding coordinator at the aquarium left to take a different job the week before the wedding, but every detail was in place, and they did an amazing job even without our coordinator. Before the wedding, they set up a tasting for us, and we were so jazzed when we tasted the food. It was amazing! We ended up going with the beef sirloin and the chicken cordon bleu. The entrees were delicious, and all of the sides were, too. We had the cheesecake martini bar for dessert, and our guests loved it. After dinner, all of the guests got to wander around the whole aquarium while they ate dessert. Several of our guests told us it was by far the coolest wedding they had ever been to. Also, it really wasn't as expensive as you would think--it was comparable to most reception venues I looked at. In Utah, one goes to the same wedding venues over and over again, and every reception seems the same. The aquarium is a great way to have a wedding that everyone will remember and that will be cooler than all your friends' weddings. (I know weddings are not a contest, but come on, they kind of are. And you'll totally win if you have your wedding at the aquarium.) I mean, come on. Otters and baby penguins. Can you get any cooler than that?We had a dinner reception with about 130 people at the aquarium. It was perfect. Our daughter got her dream wedding reception here. We couldn't have been more pleased with this unique venue, and our guests loved being able to explore the entire aquarium as part of the reception. The food was artfully presented and was very high quality. The banquet hall and reception room features a floor to ceiling SHARK TANK, so guests could view sea turtles, stingrays and sharks while eating their food. There's even an elegant brides room attached to the banquet hall, which was super convenient.
I highly recommend this venue if you are looking for a beautiful, unique and unforgetable wedding and/or reception. Our daughter got her dream wedding reception here. We loved having our wedding here! The night was amazing and the aquarium was the perfect venue for us. Food was delicious and the staff was super helpful. We worked with them for a bout a year and they made sure we had everything planned and ready for us the night of. They even let us taste a bunch of their food items, so we could easily decide what we wanted. They are very expensive, but highly worth it. If you have the money, don't hesitate to book this place. The only thing I'd want to warn you about is to make sure you have someone in your own party helping with decorations. They forgot a couple of ours and I was bummed that our guests missed out on them. They are a venue, not necessarily a wedding venue and I think they just forgot as they had a bunch of other things on their plate. But overall, we couldn't be happier with out choice and I highly recommend them to everyone! We loved having our wedding here! The night was amazing and the aquarium was the perfect venue for us. The living planet aquarium offered an incredibly unique option. We got married in front of a giant floor to ceiling shark tank. The caterer they have you go through is Lancer catering, and I'll rate much of the service in that review. There's normally that awkward transition period between the ceremony and reception. The aquarium offered a great touring option for our guests, and photography option for our wedding party while this transition occurred.
There are two downsides to this venue, however. The price is, understandably, somewhat high. On top of the venue rental, they have a required minimum catering cost you must utilize to rent here. The reception room, apart from the shark tank, is quite plain and requires significant cost to decorate. Additionally, the aquarium closes to touring at 9pm so the animals may go to bed (though the reception room is available later). We considered this both a pro and a con. We wanted our guests shuffled back to see the cake-cutting, wedding videos, etc, but would have liked our guests to tour at their leisure. The living planet aquarium offered an incredibly unique option.
