Shigs In Pit catered our rehearsal dinner and the food was amazing. We went with the buffet style and had beer and wine provided for a "champagne toast" that all guests were invited to following the rehearsal dinner. The beer was from Mad Anthony's Brewing company and was a big hit. One of the primary reasons we went with Shigs In Pit was that, unlike most catering companies, they did not have a minimum requirement for the number of guests. Most places had minimums of 25 to 50 people, and with only 15 people at the rehearsal dinner, I was thrilled to find a place that would cater to smaller groups.

The food was amazing along with the service. Was extremely happy with the food, it was all hot and tasted wonderful. I also enjoyed the staff, they were very friendly and attentive during the reception.

We were really excited to find someone who catered who we knew had great food and was affordable. The catering manager was difficult to get in touch with. Often days would pass between emails even for simple questions. We were planning the wedding from AZ so this was infuriating because it's not like we could run to the restaurant to talk. We were frustrated at the tasting that we couldn't try most of the food. We also almost walked away because the catering manager was at least 15 minutes behind schedule and we had a lot to do the weekend we were in Indiana. The food was good so we thought the worst was behind us.

    The food was good.

At the reception the staff was so-so. For our Saturday reception they didn't send anyone who could accept payment, and we had to call the restaurant from the airport on the way to our honeymoon. That was extremely annoying. It took 5 minutes for them to find someone who could pour champagne for the head table for the toasts since the one bartender they sent couldn't leave the bar. They also only sent 9 bottles of wine and we ran out within the first two hours. As we were providing wine and beer I felt it made us look cheap and guided our guests to the cash bar they made a profit off of. The cake cutting fee was reasonable, but they took OUR cake serving knife and put it with their equipment to take with them. The staff also had cake back in the serving area (I can only assuming they were eating the cake we paid for) . They also threw out cake without asking. At our consultation we were told they would bring containers to put leftovers in. Again without asking, I saw them throwing food into the trash. It's not like it's hard to find the bride at a wedding to ask for direction. If you can stay on top of the servers/get everything in writing you might have a better experience than us. My husband sent an email to the catering coordinator about our concerns a couple of weeks ago and has yet to receive a response.
