User2509412 Sent on 01/18/2016I wish WeddingWire allowed me to give this place 6 out of 5 stars! If you are looking for a venue in DC just stop looking now and choose Malmaison. The place is amazing in every way. It's a unique space in a great location. The food is outstanding. The sound system is EXCELLENT and the DJ booth is there and ready to go. The shining star of Malmaison is Kayla Dingman, who leads events. Kayla was like a breath of fresh air from the very first time we contacted her. She is absolutely delightful to work with and was so flexible and helpful in working with us to create an event that worked with our budget and ensured our guests had a great time. The first time we walked into Malmaison we knew it was our spot. The look and feel is a mix of Paris and the East Village, which was a nice contrast to the other typical DC venues. Also, most places in DC have an outrageous fee just to use the space. Malmaison only has a food & beverage minimum. The entire Malmaison team took great care of us and our guests the night of the party. So many of our guests remarked about what a fun and unique space it was, how fantastic and different the food was (this isn't your typical run of the mill wedding food - it's the real deal - their chef is amazing - so talented and creative), and generally what a great party Malmaison helped us throw. The layout of the space allows you to have an epic dance party near the bar, with couches and plenty of seating in the front part of the space. Honestly, I can't say enough good things about this place and especially about Kayla. I just want to hug her. And also find another reason to have a party at Malmaison!! -
User2186795 Sent on 06/18/2015Everything was perfect. The staff was wonderful, professional, and fun. The food was great...as expected. Chef Gerard is a delight to talk. He was very accommodating when we requested a food tasting before signing on to use the venue for our wedding. Everyone loved the venue. A few guests are considering Malmaison for their next event.
Kayla made sure the night ran smoothly. The staff brought out the food on time and warm.
The venue is in a perfect location. Quaint and quiet end of Georgetown. Parking can be hard but there a garages nearby. Our wedding was on a Sunday evening so street parking is free and the garages were a little cheaper than other days.
Malmaison has 2 levels. We used the top level for cocktail hour and dancing. Enough space to move around freely. We had about 60 guests
I would recommend Malmaison for a ceremony and reception if your guest list is under 75 people and looking for something different but in a popular location, or want -
User1978377 Sent on 12/20/2014What a wonderful experience. Sarah was wonderful and more... certainly considering all of events and crap she had going on... on top of that, she had to deal with the Elevation nutties. Top notch staff and all around support.

User1841737 Sent on 10/02/2014I had my event at Hierarchy. The space was PERFECT for my event. The staff was amazing about cleaning up and decorating the bar space so that the place looked really nice and trendy for my event. All of the staff was very nice and very helpful, but Sarah, the event planner, was beyong phenomenal. She was a wealth of great information, guidance, advice and pulled everything together flawlessly. She went WAY BEYOND the call of duty - meeting me when I wanted to, patiently answering questions and offering great advice, and the day of the event she went out of her way to add touches that made the event special and unique. She even set up tables and chairs that were supposed to be assembled by the rental company. Sarah is an uberly talented professional and Popal Group is so, SOOO lucky to have her. I feel very blessed to have had such a great venue and Sarah leading the way.
I do have to comment on the food, as that is not being evaluated. The food was a little disappointing. Several appetizers were dry, overcooked and almost stale. The cupcakes were a real disappointment - they were very dry and the frosting was hard and gluey. -
User3137778 Sent on 07/19/2017Malmaison was exactly what we wanted for our wedding. We wanted an urban, hip and cool vibe and we also wanted to have the ceremony and reception in one spot. Everyone who attended said the food was outstanding and the service was impeccable. No one had to wait for a drink. The staff was responsive and trustworthy and also had great recommendations. Just know that you will likely have to rent some tables, chairs and linens. As someone who never planned a wedding, that was something I didn't know. Malmaison is a very special place and I'm so happy I chose to hold my wedding there. -
