It feels impossible to write a review about a business when Mandee treated us like family - I'll try my best. We obviously loved our photos but the amount of love she showed us throughout the entire process will forever remain a big part of our lives.
Transparently, I can’t remember exactly how we came across her but I’ll speak for both Zoe and me - we are so grateful we did. We were pretty keen on candid-style photography for our wedding day.
We’ve said it many times, Mandee was hands down one of the best choices we made for our wedding, let alone for our wedding photographer! She is incredibly talented and detail-oriented all while she captured moments we didn't even know were happening! Plus, she's a joy to work with - super chill and friendly. Mandee made us feel comfortable and relaxed throughout the entire process.
What we love most about Mandee is her dedication. From start to finish, she was there for us, making sure every shot was perfect. And let's talk about the photos - they're AMAZING! Each one tells a story and brings back all the feels from our special day. If your family is anything like mine, everyone expects to be photographed and Mandee made sure to get a piece of everyone.
If you're searching for a photographer who's not only talented but also genuine and fun to be around, Mandee is your person. Mandee, Zoe and I can’t thank you and Callie enough. -

I had been a fan of her work for over a decade, but never expected to work WITH her. As someone that does not enjoy being photographed, she made my engagement and wedding photos painless... and even fun. She is so quick-witted and funny and able to take your mind off of the process. She has a great eye and is very clear with her direction. She honestly felt like part of the family, rather than a photographer for hire. Mandee was amazing!! She took beautiful photographs of us during our big day and really just helped with the overall wedding experience and made us feel extremely special. We chose the Petite package which was perfect for us because we had just had a walk on beach ceremony with the two of us and about 7 family members at Little Corona Del Mar in Newport Beach. She really was able to delegate where the best position for Gisel and I would be on the beach while the officiant did the ceremony to get the best photos. Little Corona Del Mar has a long steep trail down to the beach so it was hard for Gisel to walk down with a wedding dress and everything but Mandee was very helpful in holding extra things and making sure she didn’t fall and trip and that she was comfortable. When it came to the actual beach there was a ton of rocks when we had to take our after ceremony photos and she even gave Gisel her sandals to walk on the rocks which was extremely helpful for her.
After the beach wedding she came to our reception which was at a beach house near our ceremony location and took some amazing photos with friends and family (about 30 people). She was great the whole time making sure we got photos with all of the people there as we would go up and talk to them. We told her we preferred “action” type photos rather than posing which was exactly what she did.
Overall it was an amazing experience and we are very happy with Mandee’s photos!

When your wedding day is over, you’ve got memories - yes - but you also have photos, and we wanted our photos to be incredible. My husband deals with professional photographers every day in his business, and so finding and hiring the right one to shoot our wedding was one of the first things we focused on as we set about planning for our big day. One of his best friends is a wedding photographer, but we wanted her to be a guest at our wedding, not someone who’d be working the event. We enlisted her to help us find the perfect match. She did some research, as did we, and once she came across Mandee’s Instagram page, she told us “book her - right now”. Her style and vibe were the perfect for us, and we arranged to meet her on a conference call. We got a great feeling from her on that very first day, and it seemed to be a natural fit. First, we arranged to get with her for an engagement shoot, because if we vibed with her there, we knew that she’d be great for the wedding. She helped us choose a perfect setting in the DTLA Arts District for that first shoot, and after spending 90 minutes with her, we knew she was the one. She was professional, friendly, and put us at ease. When we got our photos back, were were really blown away - and it was a no-brainer to have her do our wedding. Months later, we met with her again, this time at the wedding venue, doing a walk-around and looking at the the light. Mandee was super approachable and every interaction with her was great. On the day of our wedding, Mandee arrived with a second shooter and they got to work capturing the details: us getting ready, the reception room, the ceremony site and more. We knew they were going to do an amazing job, but it wasn’t until we got our photos back that we knew how incredible she really was. We were blown away! From our individual portraits, family shots, friends and more, she captured the day in ways we couldn’t have imagined. We were so busy that day, it all went by in a blur, and to have these incredible photos to look back at is something we’ll treasure forever. So many great shots from the ceremony, cocktail hour, lots and lots of dancing and our grand exit. Mandee was the consummate professional, and we couldn’t be happier with how she captured the most important day of our lives! Don’t hesitate, just hire her now, you won’t regret it. -

Creative and Calming
I hired Mandee after seeing her work and falling in love with her way of beautifully capturing emotions, places and events from creative and intimate perspectives. She was a calming presence throughout the day, assuring a nervous me that I was killing it, while simultaneously taking truly stunning photos. Everything was run on time, she took all pictures on all families' lists, and there was no drama. Finally, the pictures were just stunning. 5 stars! Book her if you can! -

Mandee photographed our Palm Springs rehearsal dinner and wedding in Dec. 2019 and she was absolutely incredible! Not only did the pictures turn out gorgeous but she went above and beyond on the day of our wedding to make sure everything went smoothly. Mandee is so friendly, professional and talented. Highly recommend! -

We completely lucked out by having a friend recommend Mandee Johnson for our wedding. We double-triple-ultra-lucked out when it turned out Mandee was available (pro tip: book far in advance; this woman is busy and rightfully so!). I work with words for a living, and still it's a bit tough to come up with the right adjectives when it comes to Mandee's work for/on our wedding day in Oct. 2019. I'd seen how she worked her magic for others' to-dos, and just glancing over her website offers a sense for what you'll be getting: truly original work by an artist who knows how to get unique, witty, honest, intimate (yet never posed or cheesy) shots that show you moments from your event that you may have witnessed yourself but wouldn't know how to capture. Luckily, Mandee does! She gets it, all of it -- make sure to get her if you can! -

We hired Mandee to shoot our family portraits after seeing the work she'd done for our friends' wedding. It was our first photoshoot as a family and she knocked it out of the park. The session was a blast, and everyone we know has requested prints. Excellent eye for the camera, lighting, and editing... Highly recommended!
