    Our dream venue

Choosing a venue can be so difficult - there are so many options in Maine and they all have their own unique perks. But when we drove up to Marianmade Farm, all the other venue options were crossed off our list. Marianmade had everything we wanted for our wedding day and more - wildflowers and flower gardens, wooded areas and open fields, an arbor overlooking the river, a firepit with ample seating, a European-style cottage and bridal suite, a beautiful lavender drying barn with an ideal space for cocktail hour, and a massive tent for games, cocktail hour and and other day of activities. Every detail in and around the barn is meticulous. This venue holds so many special memories for us now, and we are so grateful we chose Marianmade Farm as our wedding venue.

    Spectacular in every way

WOW! Marianmade Farm is a special place. Our guests are still talking about how gorgeous and unique of a venue it was. Also, it definitely means something that our wedding planner genuinely told us she wished she got married here. The property is so picturesque and private with a beautiful venue out to the river. You feel like you're in your own little world when you're there. The stone cottage added to the charm. It was so incredible to wake up there looking over the place we were going to get married. John was so amenable and helpful during COVID and postponing our wedding a year. He truly made this place perfect for our wedding weekend, it was like a fairy tale.

Can we do it all again?!

We hosted the most perfect wedding weekend at Marianmade Farm over Labor Day Weekend. The property is absolutely stunning during the summer/fall months! We were really impressed by how well the grounds had been maintained. It’s such a stunning place to get married.

We held both our rehearsal dinner and wedding on-site. The property lends itself well to creating two very different feels/experiences for both evenings. We hosted our rehearsal dinner outside under the clear top tent, and our wedding reception was inside the "barn" the following night. I say barn in quotes because it really doesn't feel like a barn at all. The light, bright and airy atmosphere of the barn really gives it an upscale elegance feel without being too formal.

The stone cottage that comes with the property rental is the perfect place for a bridal party to get ready the morning of the wedding. It also makes for great additional accommodations for out-of-town guests.

I’d be remiss to not give a huge shout out to Ed, the property manager. He was on-site all weekend ensuring we had everything we needed. He made a last-minute fix to a broken toilet paper holder in the cottage bathroom, and quickly responded to our call of a blown fuse the morning of the wedding. He was the real MVP of the weekend!

This venue checks so many boxes if you want a coastal, whimsical, fairy-tale of a wedding 😊. Our only regret is not being able to do it all over again!

    Most incredible wedding weekend

Let me start by saying that all of the negative reviews that are on here are outdated and based on prior ownership.

We had the privilege of having our wedding at Marianmade Farm in late August of 2019, and I cannot say enough great things about this venue. The owner John is clear with his communications and understanding with any and all situations. Wendy, the wedding planner associated with the venue, is a godsend. Her, along with her wonderful daughter, do everything in their power to make your weekend perfect...down to the finest of details. Again, I don't how we could put our appreciation for everyone associated with Marianmade into words. They made our weekend perfect.

We held both our rehearsal dinner and wedding ceremony/reception on the property, and everything went off without a hitch. Along with the property, you are provided a wonderful cottage to stay in that provides privacy and makes the weekend that much more special for the newlyweds.

If you want an ideal, midcoast Maine wedding, I honestly don't know where else you would have it (trust me, I was dragged to every venue in a 100 mile radius...I know).

John, Wendy - if you read these, thank you again, for everything. We wish you nothing but continued success in the future. We hope to be back up to Marianmade soon!

    - Greg and Jess

Most gorgeous place to get married

We had an absolutely incredible wedding at Marianmade Farm. We looked at many venues in Midcoast Maine and this was by far the most stunning. It's a working flower farm on the water with a lovely barn. The cottage on the property is adorable-- they were incredibly flexible and my in laws stayed there for a week! We held the rehearsal dinner outside the barn the night before our wedding as well which was also really special.

First, off, this is a beautiful property.

The stone cottage makes the weekend extra-special and there's so many ways to use the space that you can have a rehearsal dinner AND a wedding out here and build two very different evenings. John, the proprietor, was on site for the wedding and helped out a ton. He also was very quick to reply to emails and calls leading up. We weren't high-maintenance but we did have lots of questions and he helped it all go off wonderfully. The grounds were maintained and some new additions (bigger shaded patio) really helped make the space work on a hot day.

Also, we had an act-of-god power/weather issue the first night that the property resolved with a generator and then fixed before the wedding, promptly. I can't say enough.

For the day of, the barn is the bomb. You can decorate minimally and still have an A+ wedding because the property is stunning and does so much work for you. The catering coordinated smoothly — use Red Plate (the Damariscotta River Grill) and you won't be let down.

The fire pit and open space makes for a good three days. I couldn't recommend this property enough. John even kept in touch, returned our deposit promptly, the whole shebang. Get married here!

Our daughter's wedding was held at Marianmade last Saturday, June 17. We rented the entire place and it was just perfection. It's comfortable, beautiful, and every detail is thought of. The bridal suite behind the barn is a great idea, and comfortable for changing and helping the bride. The little fairytale cottage and the flower house were also comfortable, spacious, and exactly what we needed, and the barn was gorgeous.

Everyone was nice, friendly and accommodating. They made planning a wedding from a distance super easy. Their recommended list of vendors was superb. Trillium Catering was five star too.

Thank you all for making our big weekend perfect.

We got married at Marianmade Farm and could not imagine a more perfect venue. It is in the most gorgeous spot in Wiscasset and the barn is incredible. I hate to even call it a barn because it is so chic. The contract is from Thursday - Sunday so I was able to drop decor off early, have the rehearsal dinner, wedding, and brunch all at the same place. There are also lovely bathrooms on site and it included transportation to the local hotels. Tables and beautiful lighting are also included. Michelle and MacKenzie make you feel like family! I adore them both! Michelle also did my flowers and I was blown away! Flowers were one detail that I just wasn't that excited about or interested in. Michelle did such an amazing job that looking back they were one of my favorite things about the wedding. What an incredible experience! I wish I could do it again!

Marianmade was the first wedding venue we visited. When we arrived in the driveway we immediately knew that this farm was going to be where we'd celebrate our special day. The best way to describe this beautiful place is magical! The entire property is meticulously maintained and the Michelle's flowers are beyond gorgeous! We feel so lucky to have had the opportunity to have celebrated our wedding weekend at this amazing gem! From the lavender drying house to the waterfront view, every detail of this venue has been thoughtfully curated in a charming and artful manner.

Michelle and MacKenzie were fantastic to work with! They were extremely responsive and helpful throughout our planning process. We held both our rehearsal dinner and reception at Marianmade. With the help of Michelle and MacKenzie, these events felt distinctly different but still managed to celebrate our love of Maine (and each other!)

Michelle also designed our flowers. Michelle worked within our budget while providing wedding floral arrangements that managed to absolutely exceed our expectations. She even went the extra mile to assure that I was able to have big, beautiful, pink peonies in my bouquet long after peony season. Michelle also created floral wreaths that we used as decoration for both our church ceremony and our reception at Marianmade. We were able to give the wreaths as gifts to our mothers following the event-they were so pleased with them! The farm was also at peak lavender season for our wedding. We were fortunate to have a beautiful lavender backdrop for many of our photos and lavender bouquets included in our flower arrangements.

Marianmade has become a place that is so very special to us! We highly recommend this breathtaking venue and Michelle's flowers!

Marianmade Farm is a beautiful venue. The view of the Sheepscot River, the barn, and the farm create the perfect environment for a dream wedding. The white washed beams and window lined walls allow for tons of light and the subtle sent of lavender fills the room. I was especially grateful for the bridal cottage where we were able to spend a relaxing morning primping prior to the ceremony. Our guests raved about the perfect "Maine" setting and loved the rustic and relaxed feel of the barn. We enjoyed having our rehearsal dinner at the farm as well complete with a food truck creating the perfect laid back atmosphere.

Michelle and MacKenzie were fantastic to work with. They take pride in the beauty of their venue and it is evident in the pristine maintenance of the barn and farm. They were responsive to my questions and accommodating to my requests. I would recommend this venue in heartbeat, it truly is a magical place.

My venue is probably one of the most beautiful venues in Maine and on top of that the owner is one of the most talented florists in Maine. There are a lot of things included and unlike other barn venues has bathrooms included which is amazing. There are some strict rules, but the really just keep the property beautiful... I can appreciate that since my wedding was at the end of the season and looked absolutely amazing! Highly recommend!

I worked with Michelle Peele of Marianmade Farm for the florals for my wedding at The Spruce Point Inn. From the moment I walked in to her home and farm in Wiscasset, I knew she would be a great choice for florals!

Michelle is not only very warm, but also truly creative. When I met with her, it was still cold and too early in the season for flowers to be growing. Therefore, I had to just trust her based on photos from her website, speaking with her, and seeing her lovely taste in decorating. She listened to my vision for the wedding, and I just gave her ideas of flowers I like, mood, color scheme, etc. I then gave her a budget to work with, and I just let her do her thing. On the day of my wedding, I was thrilled with the results! We received many compliments on the flowers, and they were so unique and beautiful.

What I also loved about Michelle is that she did not try to push me to go over budget. I did not have a huge floral budget, and she suggested creative ways to reuse florals throughout the day to get the most bang for my buck.

Overall, Michelle is a wonderful florist, and I recommend her to brides looking for rustic and artistic floral design.

    Stunning!!!!

It’s hard to put into words how beautiful this venue is, and we could not have asked for a more perfect setting for our wedding. This venue has the perfect set up, with a beautiful ceremony site overlooking the sheepscot river, a chic lavender drying barn, a big clear top tent, and gardens galore making for a great photo op everywhere you turn. We had dinner under the stars in the tent and then moved into the barn for dancing, but there are so many options for how to structure your event. The grounds of Marianmade Farm are so beautiful you could almost get away with no other decor if you wanted to. John the owner was easy to work with and responsive to all of our questions. Highly highly highly recommend!

    Perfect wedding venue!!

Marianmade was the most perfect venue for our wedding! From the day we toured it, we knew that it was the place for us. Not only is the venue stunning, the staff and what’s included in the cost is so helpful. All of our guests kept telling us that it was one of the most beautiful venues they’ve ever been to. We were able to utilize so much of the space in different ways over the weekend, and loved staying in the beautiful house on the property. We wish we could do it all over again and were so happy with Marianmade!

The pictures don't do it justice

We got married at Marianmade Farm July 4th weekend in 2021 and couldn't have asked for a more magical setting. Our family stayed at the quaint cottage while the rest of us stayed in nearby Boothbay harbor, just a few minutes away. Our day-of coordinator and vendors were all very familiar with John and the property, which was made coordination of both our rehearsal dinner and wedding ceremony, much easier. Ultimately, everything went perfectly for both events: the grounds were meticulously maintained, the guests loved the lavender fields, the backdrop of the Sheepscot river, the outdoor tent setup for dinner and the use of the beautiful barn for partying the night away while our wedding party made good use of the cottage and bridal suite for getting ready and bustling the dress. The pictures really don't do justice, definitely visit!

    Perfect rustic-chic mid-coast Maine venue

We got married at Marianmade Farms this September (09/07/19). Despite a hurricane lingering offshore, the day was absolutely amazing! The grounds were beautifully manicured and full of gorgeous colors. We knew after our first visit that Marianmade was the perfect venue for our wedding weekend. From the start, John was incredibly helpful and willing to work with us on customizing our package. As we had ~150 guests, we needed a tent extension and access to all the tables & chairs; John was more than happy to partner with us throughout the process to ensure we had what was needed. I will say that working with Wendy Carson from Dragonfly Services also made planning a breeze. She and John have a wonderful working relationship and together they made our wedding weekend everything we hoped it would be. Both were prompt with emails and offered electronic contracts which helped as we were planning out of state. Having access to the property Thursday through Sunday allowed us to settle in and enjoy the full weekend. If you're looking for a picturesque, quintessential mid-coast Maine venue, this is the spot for you - trust me, our friends and family are still talking about our wedding & the pictures are incredible!

Michelle's flowers were absolutely beautiful. No one else could have made the bouquets and boutonnieres the same way that she did- they were so unique and suited our styles perfectly. Michelle is able to create the 'just picked' look naturally and easily- something I am sure is not actually easy. Her floral arrangements were absolutely stunning and we are so pleased we chose her for our wedding day. Would highly recommend her, without a doubt.

We chose Marianmade Farm for our wedding because we wanted an open concept, outdoor food & music festival vibe. Not only did we choose the right venue, every preferred vendor MMF recommended checked every box we were looking for. Being from Brooklyn, New York, Maine was not initially within our vision as a destination. But we fell in love with its beauty, small coastal towns, as well as the beer and food!

MMF went above and beyond to help execute our plan and vision. From the renovations to the farm, the amazing tent for our band; John, Ed and all of the staff were extremely helpful leading in and during the process of planning our wedding. The on-site stone cottage is breathtakingly comfortable. MMF is worth every penny on a full weekend rental, as you never have to worry about the cookie cutter-wedding venue that may have 3 or 4 weddings per day. It’s your day/weekend and that’s all that matters. It goes a long way.

My recommendation to anyone looking for a concept like this is to be thorough, open, and commutative to every vendor with kindness and they will deliver for you no questions asked!

Simply put the flowers Michelle did for our wedding blew us away. I know little about flowers and looking back I wasn’t very specific about what I wanted but I shared ideas from Pinterest with her and what she delivered was even better than the pictures I had shown her.

The flowers were gorgeous and Michelle is the best in Maine. The process for selecting what I wanted was a bit unstructured and so I went into my wedding not really knowing what the flowers would look like. I met with her once when I signed the contract and spoke at length with Michelle about what I wanted. A few months before the wedding we had a follow-up appointment scheduled that she forgot about and left me at her farm wondering where she was. She quickly apologized and asked I trust her. It turned out they were great, but if the selection and communication were more transparent I would have given higher ratings. I will say I was referred to her by a friend who's wedding I was in and those flowers were the most spectacular I've ever seen. So, maybe my experience was a bit unique.

    Just missed...

This is an absolutely beautiful venue. Most of our guest made a point to tell us it was the most beautiful wedding they had ever attended. The weather wasn't perfect (cloudy and cool) but that didn't seem to matter in the grand scheme of things. However, we were told that if we opted in for (3-5) heat lamps we would have to pay $500/heater due on the Wednesday before the wedding. This was confusing because we still weren't sure we needed the heaters, yet the owner wanted the money up front. This caused a considerable amount of stress on the week of the wedding. As it turned out, we got three heaters for $500 after the wedding coordinator negotiated with the owner.

The wedding coordinating staff took care of all the details and they could not have done a better job getting everything to look exactly the way we envisioned it -- just beautiful! Coordination was excellent, and the transition from the cocktail hour, to dinner (in the clear tent), to dancing in the Barn was seamless (which we recognize was no easy task).
Having said that, I thought it was important to point out some miscommunications that we feel consumers need to know to avoid some disappointments we experienced:1. Make sure you are clear on the timeline for your wedding day. During the initial consultation with the wedding coordinator, we understood that the band could play until 10:30 p.m. The night of the wedding, we were very disappointing when the wedding coordinator strictly enforced a "hard stop" at 10:00 p.m. She signaled to the band to stop playing immediately. She later explained that the town has "very strict sound ordinances" and that they were required to stop all noise at 10:00 p.m. sharp. This would have been nice to know up front. (We are sure she told us 10:30 p.m. other wise we would not have booked the bank until 10:30 p.m.) As a result, the party ended so abruptly that the bride and groom could not even have their last dance. And we paid the band for 4 hours only to get 3.5 hours of music. Bottom line: Make sure you are clear on the timeline before signing the contract. And more importantly, make sure you coordinate with your band according to the venues timeline and then get that timeline in writing.
    2. There is a beautiful cottage that comes with the venue to stay in and get ready for the wedding. It is literally something out of the movies, quaint, cozy, and so adorable! However, it did not have enough power to support multiple appliances (blow dryers, hair straighteners, steamers, coffee makers, toaster, etc.) all running at once. This resulted in the fuse blowing out 9 times during the time in which the bridesmaids were getting ready. We had to go into the cellar located outside through a bulkhead 9 times, in the rain (!!), to switch the fuse back. Super disruptive and caused a delay in our timeline to be ready for the wedding.
    3. It is also very important to know that this venue does not support more than 100 guests comfortably. We had 138 and it was a very tight squeeze. The bathrooms do not support this number of guest which caused long lines and overflow to the "bridal changing room" bathroom (the staff was using to change!) area which was frowned upon by the venue. We do not remember a specific number for guest capacity being mentioned in our initial meeting with the wedding coordinator. We knew we would have 150 guests at the most and we know we communicated that in the initial meeting. We were again surprised, confused and disappointed to learn -- on the day of the wedding --this was far too many guest. So... make sure you are clear on the number of guests before you sign anything.
One final word of caution, this venue is pricey and understandable so given such a gorgeous atmosphere to have a truly beautiful wedding. However, we had to do a lot of leg work for virtually everything leading up to the wedding. It was a lot of additional work we didn't realize in the beginning; which was a huge inconvenience in light of all the money that was spent.
We were told that this is how it works but we didn't realize just how much work we had to do on our own, we felt this point was worth emphasizing for this review. After you pay for the venue (which is a significant amount of money!), you then have to pay for everything from the plates, flatware, glasses for the dinner table, glasses for the bar, bar tables, candles, napkins, and so many details I can't even list... and then you have to deliver all of these materials to the venue as well. It was way more work than we initially realized -- so much work!! For this reason we gave the "value" of this venue a very low mark - only two stars.
The experience of having a wedding at Marrianmaid Farm was really nice and as a whole we really loved this special day when it finally arrived; however, it was a lot of work and so exhausting for the amount of money spent.

It's heartbreaking to write this -- it's a true shame because the venue is in a gorgeous location with a beautiful backdrop, but the new owner has set his sights on making as much profit as possible and has lost sight of preserving the joy of the day for the bride and groom. It seems as though he's forgotten he's in the hospitality industry and should be excited to help couples start their new life together. When he took over the farm he asserted that there would be no additional costs for us and yet at every step of the way he found ways to charge us more money and make it impossible to contract with our existing vendors and move forward with our wedding as planned. His demands were completely unreasonable and off-base, not rooted in any sound judgment, truly just going out of his way to be difficult and make our lives in the weeks leading up to our wedding absolutely miserable. All of our vendors agreed that his stipulations were more severe than anything they'd seen working on weddings in the greater New England area, Maine and beyond. We only wish he'd been oriented towards coming up with solutions mutually agreeable to all parties and that he had at least considered things from our perspective and put himself in our shoes. The anxiety and additional stress he caused was unfair and we would have been much better off had he been a true partner.

My daughters wedding was here in July and this is difficult for me to write. The venue is amazingly beautiful place and really sells itself. Michelle no longer owns it and the new owner is what I want to warn future brides about. We were planning the wedding from out of state and I can not say enough great things about ALL the other vendors except the owner of Marianmade. Beware! He owns a tent company and did some very shady things. My biggest complaint is how he spoke to me one month before the wedding. He even threatened me saying "do you want to cancel your daughters wedding?" He knows I could not and would not do that and he had me over a barrel. Just beware if you want this beautiful wedding to be your venue.

    Marianmade Farm's reply:

Sharon, thank you for your initial note about how “amazingly beautiful” Marianmade Farm is.
In regards to your critique, it was never my intention to upset or cause any disturbance to your experience. From your experience at the wedding and what we heard afterward, you all had an amazing time.
When I purchased the farm, my only intention was to enhance the experience and provide a safe environment for couples and their guests.
We discovered many safety issues with tent companies not securing their tents properly and that posed a major safety issue. I know the awful circumstances a wind storm can present to a tent improperly installed.
We let all couples know that tents needed to be installed to the manufacturer’s installation specifications. We did not require them to switch tent companies, we just asked for proof of properly installed tents. Sharon’s tent company wanted to charge her additional money to install it properly and safely. Sharon demanded that I should pay for this fee. I informed her that I would be happy to install the tent at the same cost she was initially contracted for. She said the other tent company wouldn’t refund her deposit, so she wanted me to install the tent for the original cost minus her deposit. I could not meet this unfair request.
I never threatened to cancel the wedding. I simply told her that I would be more than willing to refund her all her money if she felt better about moving to a different location. I gave her all options within my powers, but nothing seemed to help. In the end I reached out to the tent company and asked them to work with the client on this. They ended up crediting the additional charge.
As I mentioned above, the new policies centered around protecting the farm and most importantly the couple and their guests occupying it. I do apologize to you Sharon for any ill affects it had on you, but I hope you can look back on your daughter’s wedding as a joyous occasion at Marianmade Farm!

I was married at Marianmade Farm last year and it truly is a beautiful venue. However, for the price that the venue charges, I expected a lot more in terms of service. When we arrived on property and walked around the grounds, we noticed that the flower beds, gravel paths, etc. hadn't been maintained and looked messy. This was a Thursday and the property manager was unavailable until Friday to resolve the issue (not something you want to manage the day before your wedding). It was disappointing as we paid a lot of money for the Farm to look a certain way and it didn't day of.

Post-wedding, we followed up with the owner, John, asking for a credit due to the state of the grounds of the Marianmade. He eventually agreed to credit us back a small amount. However, 8 months later, he still hasn't sent the payment. My husband was in communication with him and then John simply stopped responding.

In my opinion, the behavior of the owner is completely unprofessional and shows a real lack of character.

If you choose to get married at this venue, be aware of the major service issues.

    Marianmade Farm's reply:

Other than the comment of how beautiful Marianmade Farm is, we strongly disagree with this client’s point of view. Our service was more than accommodating throughout the process - from their first inquiries right through their wedding. We went above and beyond on all facets.

What this review is really about, is that this bride and groom tried to black mail us after their wedding to give them a partial refund based on their claimed issues during their wedding weekend. It was essentially, give us a refund or we’ll write a bad review. We considered it, and then later refused out of principal and precedent, and hence the review. We will be taking the proper legal action to have this review removed, but in the meantime, we wanted to clarify things.

This is the email we received from the bride a few days following their wedding:

    "Hi Jessica (the venue manager),
First off, thank you and Marianmade for making our wedding day so special. We had a wonderful time and people were raving about the venue! Also, thank you for playing with my nephew, Will!
    Thanks again!
    best,
    Lauren"

As for their concerns with the gardens, we received a text at 7:15pm on Thursday night with photos and claimed issues. We called immediately. We told you them we would make every effort to address their concerns. Our venue manager spent the entire day on Friday going through the gardens around the barn trying to resolve any issues. Lauren said they weren’t what she expected, but all of the documentation we shared with them from the start showed them exactly what they received on their wedding weekend.

Also, the groom was extremely rude to our venue manager (Jessica), almost bringing her to tears. Lauren even apologized to her about his behavior.

We truly went above and beyond on all facets, we even helped them out with discounts and policy alterations to help accommodate their situation. It is a shame that people go to this level to defame a business.
