Maritime Museum of San Diego Reviews

I loved having my wedding on the Star of India. It made for beautiful pictures and a great day. The staff always got back to me quickly with answers to all my questions and were very flexible.

The SD Maritime Museum's ship "HMS Surprise" was a unique, fun, and special venue for our wedding. It went just as we hoped it would and was a very very good time for everyone. Jim and his team were very helpful in planning the big day and also helping me organize a sailing trip for friends and family the day after the wedding on the "Californian".

Simply the most amazing place to hold an event. Our guests talk about it for years afterward. We have tried to use other venues but always come back to this one. The venue itself it captivating and the view, staff and unique quality plus central location make it a winning solution to every type of special event we have.

I worked with Warren Potts, who is an absolute delight! We had a champagne toast to begin the reception, and they had a table of 200 glasses of champagne already poured as guests came onto the boat.

They allowed us to come onto the boat as many times as we wanted to before the wedding. The boat--Berkeley--is so maintained that it didn't need much in the way of decorations. The boat is decor in itself. It's amazing because you're on the water, with a view of the San Diego Bay and of San Diego downtown. Plus, it was a full moon that night, so guests went outside onto the deck to hang out and talk.

The ceremony was across the street, and they set off the cannons right after my groom and I walked down the aisle. What a nice touch!!!

The wedding day was fabulous. Jim has a high energy personality but made sure everything I asked for was taken care of beautifully.
