The venue speaks for itself! Every photo turns out amazing! The staff is so helpful and answers every question. It's really has everything you need from getting ready rooms to beautiful indoor and outdoor locations for the ceremony and an amazing reception space, and rentable decor. If I did it all again I wouldn't change a thing!

If you're looking for a fairytale dream venue - look no further! Mayowood is truly magical and our guests couldn't stop talking about how beautiful it was. Melissa is the best venue contact you could ever hope for - she answered thousands of my crazy emails with patience and grace. She was extremely helpful and when my coordinator had to leave our wedding at the last minute, Melissa jumped right in to help. Talk about rockstar! If I could have another wedding just for fun - I would do it all over again at Mayowood Stone barn.

The venue is beautiful and our wedding went off without a hitch, but there were a couple things we were disappointed with.

1. When we went to tour this venue we asked about the price on three separate occasions during our tour and were told it was $3,000. We were thrilled. We went immediately from our tour and signed a contract for $3,000. The next day we received an email stating they were going to charge us $4,500 as the person who toured us had given us the incorrect information. We reached out with numerous calls and emails to try to negotiate as we had already signed a legally binding contract for $3,000. They didn’t work with us at all and went ahead and charged us the $4500 without our consent, and never sent us our original contract.

2. After spending an additional $1500 for the venue. They didn’t let us use the grooms room as it was “too expensive to heat”. So we were forced to pay more for the venue and we didn’t even get to use the whole venue. They put the groomsmen in the blacksmith shop and it wasn’t that warm. The men were forced to change in blacksmith shop, and there were no coverings for the windows.

These are just things to keep in mind if you are planning on getting married during the colder months. We were married on 10/23/2020

This venue was perfect beyond our wildest imagination. Not only was the facility team accommodating, communicative, and organized, but the venue itself is even more breathtaking in person. Wide open nature, historic grounds, expansive reception and cocktail hour facilities, combined with gorgeous greenery, wildflowers, and renovated reception space is divine. By far and away the best wedding venue in the Midwest, let alone Minnesota.

We just got married at mayowood stone barn last weekend and could not recommend it more. Melissa was extremely helpful and always so quick to respond. We worked with Adam for catering and he was incredible as well. Both went above and beyond to make the day perfect. Melissa let us come out 3 more times after the tour to calm my OCD about decor. Some family members made comments about the location (we are from the cities) but that was something we loved the whole time because only people who really wanted to be there came. In the end everyone loved that we got a getaway. We got the free trolley through the doubletree and went downtown with our friends after our rehearsal dinner and wedding and everyone had a blast in Rochester! The price of the barn compared to others in the city is incredible and the price we paid for a served dinner with passed apps and an open bar was nearly half of the city prices. We didn’t necessarily want a barn but did want an outdoor ceremony and a garden style wedding. Unlike other barns it was so easy to transform the barn into whatever you wanted being it does have a more fancy European vibe but also can be rustic. The day of the renovations made the barn more beautiful than we had ever seen before and guests were so stunned by the beauty of the venue! The property was perfect for us as we wanted a fancier wedding but loved that we could still be outdoors. Hearing so many people complain about things at their venue makes me so happy we went with Mayowood. They not only met our expectations but exceeded them and I would recommend the barn to anyone!!!

It’s clear just by looking at the venue, that it won’t take much to make your wedding gorgeous! To top it off the service and the food make it even better! Melissa was wonderful for helping get stuff set up and any questions we had. The staff were there the whole time if we needed them. It was just all perfect! Thank you for the perfect wedding!

This venue was absolutely perfect, and the management was very easy to work with. Perfect fit for a rustic elegance feel, so beautiful!

We LOVED having our wedding at Mayowood Stone Barn! The location and buildings are beautiful in person, and they make for stunning pictures! Our guests kept complimenting the staff, catering, and location over and over--saying it was the most beautiful wedding they'd been to. It was such a relief to have all of the decorating items we could possibly need on site! The staff were very easy to work with, flexible, and reassuring. I would recommend Mayowood to ANYONE planning a Minnesota wedding!

Mayowood Stone Barn was a dream come true. It was incredibly gorgeous and exactly what we wanted. Melissa, our contact, was there whenever we needed her and even took a call off hours to help us with our seating plan. She was there during our rehearsal, suggesting ideas for set up as well as back the next morning at 9am to help with the wedding day set up. Not to mention that the ceremony has to be moved inside last minute due to a storm that rolled through. She had the appropriate people there to help move everything inside and made sure it looked absolutely beautiful. She was so kind and accomadating, even when I was a little stressed because of the last minute rain. If you book your wedding at Mayowood Stone Barn, it will be beautiful. We received so many compliments throughout the night and after. Thanks Melissa for all your work! We truly appreciate you!

The venue is absolutely beautiful. Our wedding was over a year ago and we still get comments and compliments about how amazing the Stonebarn was. Make sure you visit and get the whole tour and, if it's the look you are going for, you won't be disappointed.

We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful site for our wedding in the middle of a major city. From the ceremony site outside to the unique buildings every place on this property makes you say wow!

This is a great venue for a wedding. We enjoyed celebrating our wedding there.

The Mayowood Stone Barn was ultimately my dream venue. It had a beautiful atmosphere and we loved that you received access to the whole property making it an amazing day for guests. The boys loved the "animal" room to get ready in. The Bridal room worked well for ladies except for it would be great to have more mirrors! We used the loft for the wedding which was breathtaking and cool enough for a May wedding. The reception area was good except for a few elderly guests having trouble with the floor. With all that being said... be prepared to not be responded to from the venue contact person. This was easily the only reason that I was unsatisfied. For the amount that you pay to book the barn it seems as if you should have unlimited communication for the numerous amount of questions that come up from booking various vendors. (At the barn you must bring in your caterer, alcohol provider, rental items such as linens and dance floor, dj, etc). Occasionally, I would receive an email back immediately, but there were also times that I actually never heard back. I recommend a day of coordinator if you do book the venue. The coordinators in Rochester are familiar with the venue and luckily are able to answer most of the questions that the barn didn't ever respond too. Overall, we had an amazing venue location and our guests loved it.

The Mayowood Barn was more than we could have imagined. Not only were they very organized and helpful leading up to the wedding day, but they had someone around all day to help answer questions. Letecia, the person in charge was also there to greet us as we left and that meant a lot. If you are looking for a wedding venue your guests will love this is your place.

I love the look of this venue! I have not yet gotten married, but we have booked Mayowood and are in the middle of wedding planning. The price is fair and they offer a flat rental fee to include a variety of their unique decorations on the wedding day. The place is very unique and full of charm. My only complaint is that my contact person at the barn has been less than responsive up to this point. I've only been able to get a hold of her after contacting her several times, and even then maybe not.

The Mayowood Stone Barn is rustic, beautiful, and vintage. Such a great venue for a ceremony and reception!!!!

The Mayowood Stone Barn is a beautiful place! I had a great experience working with them. Be aware that you may talk to multiple different people about planning and set up.

Due to a broken engagement, unfortunately we had to cancel our reservation at Mayowood Stone Barn (MSB). The cancellation was 14+ months prior to the reservation date. After acknowledgement from several people at MSB that we were due a full refund, we are here 6+ months later still waiting for our refund of $2,000. Calls and emails are no longer responded to from the owner all the way down. They blew off the Better Business Bureau and their rating now stands at an “F” (see link below). They have also failed to respond to the Minnesota Attorney General’s Office. Unbelievable!! I am sure by the many positive reviews that this is a beautiful venue for a wedding if you jump through all of their hoops and there are no issues, but if there are issues … BUYER BEWARE… you may find out real fast like I did, how unbelievably unprofessional these folks can become. Do your due diligence and best of luck.

Beautiful chic location! Amazing, expensive but is great if you have good weather!

I recently got married at the barn -- the experience was wonderful! Everyone was friendly and the place was perfect! I also used the owner's daughter for day of wedding coordination - she was super knowledgeable on the property and used all of the additional rentals to make it perfect! The heating is now included in the cost and the bathrooms have been updated wonderfully! It is a bit of a drive from the cities and a little spendy, but totally worth it! I have had several people say it was the most amazing wedding they have ever been to.

The Mayowood Stone Barn is an amazing wedding venue with a lot to offer. It is absolutely gorgeous and our guests were an awe the entire day with just how beautiful everything was. In my year long contract with the venue, the property had changed managers a few times and it was sometimes very difficult to get a response out of anyone if you had questions. Shelly and Homer Tompkins, the owners, were absolutely wonderful and were there the day of the event. They helped move things around and set things up and made the whole day go so smoothly.

I can't imagine our daughter, Jacque, and son-in-law, Kevin, getting married anywhere else! The entire experience, from booking the barn to their actual wedding day, was a positive one. I am so thankful for the passion, energy, time and money that Shelly and Homer Tompkins have put into the Mayowood Stone Barn to literally make dreams come true. It is a magical place - whimsical, romantic, historic....
We had 325 guests, with Chef Pasquale Preser from the Kahler Hotel providing the most delicious food all afternoon and evening that I've ever experienced at an event. With Jacque and Kevin wanting a elegant, yet casual feel to the day, we wanted our guests to feel as if they were at an all day and evening cocktail party where they could wander the grounds, have a drink in the Blacksmith Shop, play some bags, ride on a cart pulled by a miniature pony, sit under a tent listening to the Michael Patrick Jazz Quartet, sit by a fire...many of our guests mentioned that they felt very special and loved having experienced a wedding in this unique way. Due to rain earlier in the day, we moved the wedding ceremony to the loft and again - it looked absolutely gorgeous, romantic, breathtaking.... we had everyone gather before dinner in front of the barn to have the toasts given from the loft balcony window. Jacque and Kev said that it was one of their most favorite parts of the day as they were able to look down at all the important people in their lives that had gathered for their wedding day. I still pinch myself a month later as the mother of the bride - even though I had always dreamt of what it would be like to help plan and execute Jacque's wedding, it ended up being more magical than I had even dreamed of....I couldn't be more satisfied about the day.

My husband and I got married at the Mayowood Stone Barn in July of 2013. We could not have asked for a better, more magical or beautiful place to tie the knot! Most of our friends and family were from the Twin Cities and we were concerned at first about asking them all to drive to Rochester. In the end - all were raving about our venue and what a good time they had there. It was totally worth the drive!! Shelly and Homer are the sweetest, most genuine and helpful couple and we loved working with them. They've had to jump through hoops placed on the barn by the Rochester City Council, and have handled all of the changes gracefully. My husband and I wanted a memorable, unique wedding that was classy and comfortable, in a barn with character. We got all of that and more, and wouldn't have wanted it any other way. Best day of our lives, thanks to the Mayowood Stone Barn!

I chose this venue for my son's Minnesota reception after they were married out of state a few weeks prior to their reception.
We all absolutely loved it and had a wonderful time. We had so many compliments from
our guest. The owners were available the whole night, and were so gracious. They were hands on and a delight to work with. We used one of their recommendations for our caterer (Canadian Honkers). We had an awesome dinner and I would hire them again for sure. They had wonderful service and exceeded our expectations in every way all the up to our D.J. who was attending to our beverage table while the guest were arriving. What an enchanting evening filled with lots of laughter and love! Perfect!

This is a beautiful venue, there is no doubt about it. Guests were blown away by it. They were very available via email whenever we needed them and they were quite responsive. They handled all the issues with fire code and music violations professionally.

I have one major complaint and for me this was a very big deal. We got married over labor day and the thing I was most concerned about was being hot. I understand that is a risk you take when you have an outdoor wedding as we wanted to get married by the oak tree. However, the Stone Barn rents air conditioners, we were assured that we could decide day of if we wanted to pay to rent those air conditioners for the barn barn. So even if it were hot outside, our guests could then go inside and be cool for the meal and dance party.

The 15-day weather forecast came out and it was predicted to be in the low 70s over labor day weekend. An email was sent out to all the couples that they would be sending the air conditioners back for the remainder of the 2012 season and we would not have the option to rent them day of unless we wanted to pay for them in advance.

I argued that we should still have the opportunity to decide day of and that a 15 day forecast is not reliable enough to base this business decision on. But they persisted. I had to pay around $200.00 then or they would send the air conditioners back.

It ended up being nearly 90 degrees and incredibly humid on my wedding day. There were no air conditioners available for us to rent. It was very uncomfortable in the barn. Everyone was drenched in sweat (you could see it soaked through most people's clothes), I couldn't stay in my dress, my hair was sweat-soaked for our first dance... I am upset at the Stone Barn for violating the verbal agreement they made with us.
