This place was the PERFECT location for our wedding! The ballroom is absolutely beautiful and the staff is incredible. Lindsay was SO helpful throughout the entire process!!! I would highly recommend this place!

I was one of those brides when it came to last minute changes and swaps. Ken Knell at the Union was so great to work with--he made everything I wanted happen. The staff the night of were amazing. They made us a to go box of food, carried everything out to the cars, and took care of us like were family. I'd highly suggest a trip to the Union if you're looking for a great venue for your wedding.

We had our wedding ceremony in the Pendleton Room and the reception in the Rogel Ballroom. Ken Knell and the rest of the staff were so easy to work with. Ken was very responsive to my emails and promptly answered all of our questions. We had a custom Indian menu with a private tasting, and the chef took great notes so our requested suggestions and changes were incorporated into the actual menu. Everyone loved the food at the reception! The staff coordinated with our other vendors so all details were taken care of without worry. We were very happy to have our wedding there!

We had our wedding reception in the Rogel Ballroom of the Union. Ken Knell was our coordinator through the planning process and we had a very easy time working with him to bring the wedding together. Everything went exactly as planned. The food was delicious and definitely lived up to our expectations. The waitstaff was very helpful and efficient. Ken was responsive to my emails and phone calls and made sure I always had my questions answered. He worked with us to create exactly what we wanted. He recommended the florist and the baker to us and both were phenomenal. On the day of the event, Clare (Claire?) was in charge of ensuring everything went smoothly and she was wonderful. She was patient and full of information. They seriously made my wedding day so stress free. It was a relief to know that they had everything under control and my husband and I could just enjoy the day.

Every single person-especially Ken Knell, was amazing. Not one bad thing to say. Perfect service, wonderful staff and great attention to detail.

I had my ceremony in the Pendleton Room, which was perfect and beautiful! I had my reception in the Grand Ballroom, which was absolutely perfect and had the best feel in terms of 'evening glamour combined with coziness'.

The Michigan Union was amazing in terms of value! The facilities are also gorgeous with an 'early 30's' feel in terms of architecture and woodwork. I was impressed with their customer service, wait staff and all of my guests were blown away by how great everything looked!

The Union was great! I emailed and met with Ken, the planner there, sooooo much and he was always gracious and helpful. We planned everything to the detail, and it was implemented flawlessly. When I got to my reception, everything was set up so much more beautifully than I had imagined! And the staff was amazingly helpful and responded to all my requests and whims throughout the day. It was not cheap, but it was beautiful and terrific fun!

Jane at the Michigan Union helped our dreams come true. She kept track of all the details very carefully even though we were mostly communicating on email or phone (since we're in a different state). She provided very thorough information. The rest of the staff at the union were also very helpful on the day of the wedding, which was a Sunday. Some last minute furniture needed moving and added and everything was taken care of immediately. The food was great. It was also very reasonably priced. They showed great flexibility with the menu, i.e. even though our vegetarian option wasn't vegan they agreed to provide one or two vegan plates for guests who were vegan. The food tasting was great too because we got to sample a lot of food and choose from all the options available instead of a few select things we may like. All in all we recommend this venue.

The Michigan Union is a beautiful venue to have your reception and/or your wedding ceremony. My husband and I could not have been more pleased with the beauty of the building and how everything turned out. Ken Knell, Director of Event Services, was very helpful in making sure that his staff would be in place on the night of our wedding and take care of the details. My only concern with the Union is that we were not aware that Ken would not be there on the night of the wedding and that we were ultimately at the mercy of his staff - whom we did not know or had never met. This made it difficult on the day of the wedding when we had complications and didn't know who to talk with. There were some other communication glitches, but overall it was a beautiful wedding and the small things that we noticed were not noticed by our guests so much! I would recommend the Union to any couple looking for a very elegant venue to get married in! Good Luck!

Choosing the Michigan Union for my reception location was one of the best decisions I made. Ken Knell was excellent to work with- very knowledgeable and personable. The staff day of were fantastic- the night went on without a hitch. The staff were very accomidating and friendly- for example, asking myself and the groom if we wanted our meals held while we were doing table visits.The food was great as well. The Pendleton room is a gorgeous setting for a wedding, a highly recommend it!

Ken Knell was an excellent coordinator - very helpful and thoughtful and always willing to answer questions. The food was pricey but absolutely fantastic - our guests couldn't stop raving about the tenderness of the beef filet and the tasty red pepper ravioli. Staff on the day of the wedding kindly help us set up our tables and favors. They boxed our cake top and even gave us a lovely late night snack pack to take back to our hotel after the wedding!
You must book far in advance for spots at the Union because it is a popular venue, especially in the fall - so there is little flexibility. The rooms also cost more for non-university groups/parties. However, the rooms were so beautiful they didn't require much decorating, which saved us money.
All in all, a great spot for a wedding or any event!
