I was lucky enough to work with two Modern Trousseau locations and consultants when purchasing my wedding dress. Kelly at the Georgetown, DC location, and Jen in Nashville. I can’t say enough wonderful things about either of these ladies or my MT experience.
When I walked into MT Georgetown in March, I had fairly low expectations. I’d had two lengthy but disappointing appointments elsewhere, and was no closer to finding THE dress. But the instant I stepped into the first gown at Modern Trousseau, it felt different. No, that one wasn’t the one either, but it was the first one that put a smile on my face. Beautifully lined, obviously well-made, and unique in the array of seemingly identical itchy polyester numbers I’d seen (elsewhere) so far.
Kelly bent over backward to ensure every detail was exactly as I wanted it. When I took delivery in Nashville Jen and DeNeal—the immensely talented seamstress who handles their alterations—patiently took me through the rest of my fitting appointments.
I ultimately chose a dress that felt like me on my very best day—and three weeks ago, that’s precisely how I felt wearing it. Thank you, Kelly, Jen, and DeNeal!! -

Since I can remember I always had a specific vision for my wedding dress. I knew down to the smallest detail what I wanted. I started my dress shopping experience as most other brides going from store to store and trying on different dresses. There were a couple I found and loved but constantly found there was a detail I had to sacrifice. The perfect dress just did not exist already. This is where Modern Trousseau came in!! My experience with them first started after I nearly found the dress at a previous salon. That dress was a huge inspiration for my final design. However as much as I loved many details of that dress it still missed a handful of details I wanted but could not get. So I decided not to get the dress and move on to my next appt at Modern Trousseau. Within minutes of being there I knew working with these women is what I needed/wanted. I showed them the previous dress, told them what I loved, what I wanted to change and within seconds I could see the creativity brewing. It was such a flawless process. The girls starting pulling things from the left/right to help me visualize my custom build dress come alive. They were so patient and so in tune with detail. The best part, my mother!! She is truly not the easiest personality to deal with. It took ALOT of convincing to get her on board with this process because she does not trust easily and did not think this was a smart decision. The women here were sooo patient with her and worked so diligently with her to allow her to come around when she was ready. They even helped calm me down as my mother and I argued haha! Because of how intricate the details of my dress were and how picky I am (whoops) I worked directly with Callie (the designer) and Agnes (her seamstress). They are seriously the two most amazing/pleasant/welcoming/patient/insightful/helpful (the adjectives could go on forever) pair of women I have ever met. They made this entire process the easiest process I could have ever imagined. I met with them twice. And both times we went through every single detail, what I wanted, what I felt, what they recommended, etc. Every time I left I felt confident in my decision and in the process. Alot of my friends thought I was crazy for building a dress from scratch but I promise you, I would recommend it 298934208934 times over again especially if it means working with these ladies again. I would not have been as calm or confident about this process without the help of Jen at the Nashville store and especially without Callie or Agnes. I was able to find my dream dress and make it to everything I ever imagine without sacrificing a single detail. As a side note: some may run at the idea of designing their own dress because it sounds like it would cost an arm and a leg. This stores rates are SUPER reasonable. Certainly not the rates you hear about on say yes to the dress hahah! To sum this up: If you want your dream dress without sacrificing any details I would highly recommend this shop! If you think you're too controlling, or untrusting of the process, give these ladies a shot..if they can make my mom not only grow to love them but cry when she saw the final product, they can change anyones hesitations. I would go through this process a billion times again with these ladies. 5 stars is just not enough stars for them!! I don't think I have ever written a review this long..but these ladies deserve it! -

Tori Sent on 03/03/2017I absolutely adored my dress from Modern Trousseau! I had looked at a few bridal stores, and I wasn't really liking anything too much. Then I randomly went here with my mom and it was the best! The shop alone is gorgeous! And Madison is so so great to work with! I got to combine 3 different dresses to make the perfect dress for me, and I am still so in love! I felt like an actual princess on my wedding day! -
User2417013 Sent on 11/09/2015I absolutely love the feel of this boutique. I was the only appointment which was great I had the whole store to my self. Modern Trousseau offers customizable dresses that are made to fit you not just a size. They told me they could combine dresses if I liked the top of one and the bottom of another. These dresses are a bit pricier started out at $2500, but they are hand made for you in Connecticut. I loved the experience and Im excited to go back an pick my dress up! -

I originally flew to New York to find my dream wedding dress but there was no need since I later found my ideal dress for half the New York price. I worked with Ally and she was patient as I tried on the same dress on three separate occasions before actually purchasing it. I chose a dress I didn't think I would like, but it worked out beautifully. I was able to customize the dress a little bit and lower the back and change the sleeves a little. I was very happy with the dress, the price and the experience. -
User2277445 Sent on 08/19/2015BRIDES...PLEASE READ..... - if you want quality, honesty and valuable customer service....GO HERE!!! I had a nightmare experience and had to last minute find a new dress 2 months before my wedding. Ally at Modern Trousseau went through every detail of what I needed to buy for my body, what looked good, what didn't look good and she sat down with me (after hours) and went through how she could help prevent that from happening again. She didn't give false hope and she was extremely honest. She should be a bride counselor! She was able to order my dream dress, change it to how I wanted it and have it here in the nick of time. Everything went smoothly and perfectly once I visited Modern Trousseau Nashville. I would recommend them to anyone and everyone if you want a great experience. I wish I could give them 100 stars instead of just 5!!!! -
User2426810 Sent on 11/15/2015I had a WONDERFUL experience at Modern Trousseau. The dress selection is out of this world. They have a great variety of dresses that are all gorgeous and high quality. Truly a place that has something for every bride. You can clearly see the difference in the quality of the dresses than other bridal shops and the dress designs are very unique (all look classy and elegant). The experience is like no other; the atmosphere is sophisticated yet cozy and only a couple of brides are in the shop at once so you are sure to get the attention you need to find your perfect dress. The staff is amazing and are truly dedicated to helping you find "the one" within your defined budget. This is the best bridal shop (hands down) in the area. -

User1401207 Sent on 10/25/2013I had such a wonderful experience here after going to several other boutiques in the area and large warehouse type stores. The other boutiques in Nashville had nothing like the storefront and range of styles, fabrics and colors as Modern Trousseau did. They also could not compare to MT truly personal touch.
Ally and her assistant were so inviting and easy to talk to, and she really, really knew her dresses! The fabrics are the best quality I have seen and I loved that the dress is made in the US. Both girls made me feel so comfortable and welcome, no matter my price point!
I went here once with my mom and then back again with maid of honor. I would recommend these beautiful gowns and the experience I had here to anyone and everyone. This was by far the easiest and most enjoyable process of my wedding so far : ) -
User1939744 Sent on 11/25/2014The entire experience was wonderful. Everyone who worked at Modern Trousseau was pleasant, helpful, nice and helped make the entire journey low-stress. For the most part I was the only person in the shop which allows you to be comfortable when trying on all different styles of dresses. They listened and didn't push me towards a price point that I wasn't comfortable with. They worked with us to get what I wanted. The dresses are top-notch and the shop itself is gorgeous. They were true professionals and I cannot recommend them enough. Thanks!

I fell in love with a dress that I knew I wouldn't be able to find anywhere else. The quality of the material, the fit, and just the overall design made it worth every single penny. I had so much fun bringing my mom and bridesmaids in to try on, and were given champagne as soon as we arrived to top off the whole experience! Ally and Nicole were SO helpful during this process. They reassured me several times and were on top of every detail and aspect that goes into ordering a custom dress. Thank you so much Modern Trousseau for a 5 star experience!!

Ally greeted me, my mom, and bridesmaids with glasses of champagne, and was truly the most helpful at helping me figure out exactly what I wanted (even if it meant trying on 10 dresses!). From the purchasing to the fitting, she made everything so easy and fun. I would most definitely recommend MT to anyone looking for a unique, one of a kind dress!
