Excellent food and excellent service!

New fortune (located in Gaithersburg MD) catered our wedding in Virginia, and it turned out absolutely wonderfully. Tony was always easy to reach for questions/concerns, and they were very flexible in terms of the food they offered/served to the guests. They were responsible for setting up at the venue, and it turned out beautifully. The food was of course terrific, and the value for the cost was THE best by far out of any caterer we looked at. So, it made it an easy decision. If you're looking for a vendor to cater your wedding, I wouldn't hesitate to contact Tony. He's a very easy going guy, which cuts down on the stress of planning and on the day of the wedding. Thanks again Tony for a great day!

The restaurant was completely Transformed as it has never looked before. The value and quality of food is still being complimented by my guests. This was overall such a big success.

New Fortune is a good value and provide a good amount of food and drink for the money. They were flexible in that they let us move furniture around to suit our needs. They didn't get in the way at all during the reception and were professional in their service. Their food is always top-notch. I wish they would have promoted their bar a bit more; I gather half the guests didn't even know it was there.

My wife and I was looking for a place to have our reception and we recommended by a friend to check this place out. The manager was really nice and the restaurant was not a bad fit. Our wedding didn't had a lot of guest so we couldn't take advantage of the bigger hall. We were given the smaller side. We were told by the manager than we can come the day before to set up and when we got there the other manager would not let us start setting up. We had to make a call to Tony and then we were able to set up. The dancing stage was a bit broken up and chipped. The food selection was fantastic and it was a lot of food that was served and great reviews back from the guest. During the reception random people were walking through the reception area to use the bathroom which I thought was not appropriate. Also, my DJ had problems with the outlets and music kept cutting off. Overall it's not a bad place but some changes and updates can make the experience better.

Typical reception for Vietnamese reception. They were willing to accomodate up to 500 of our guests. We ended up having 350-the manager was great to work with. The banquet price were reasonable and a great deal for the # of courses compared to American venues. We chose from the banquet wedding menu and for the few vegetarian guests we had, the manager allowed the guest to order their dish.

Only issues we had was that the waiters didnt serve all the cake-we told the manager and he apologized. We also brought in our own wine for the waiter to serve but guests mentioned they didnt come around as much. The restaurant is getting old but we got draping and uplighting so it transformed the restaurant to not be recognizable as the restaurant you see normally.

Recommend for whom want to have a wedding in chineses style.

My husband and I selected New Fortune restaurant for our wedding banquet for their excellent-quality food. We ate at several restaurants before settling on New Fortune, and the food here was the best by far. Throughout the planning process, Mr. Thai was amenable and flexible to our ideas. From the table arrangement to vegetarian menu to alcohol provision, he offered numerous options and eagerly agreed to meet any special requests. However, Mr. Thai and his restaurant DID NOT keep their promises. Despite meeting with Mr. Thai repeatedly about the table arrangements (we had 34 tables and a lion dance performance) and building our seating assignments based on the map he provided to us, the tables were not at all where they were supposed to be. As a result, a table of family members and special guests was in the back corner! When one guest asked Mr. Thai about this, he placed the blame squarely on the bride and groom -- nevermind the poster-size seating/table diagram we had made using the restaurant's provided map. As if this display of unprofessionalism wasn't enough, the restaurant also used underhanded tactics with our bar tab. We had provided bottles of hard alcohol for our guests; however, the restaurant staff did not inform our guests of this -- so anyone who selected a brand different from our bottles (e.g. Absolut instead of Grey Goose) were added to our tab. This was an unpleasant surprise at the end of the night! Finally, the timing of the banquet was off. The courses came out too quickly and, although the food was tasty, many guests felt rushed through their meal.

With weddings being a one-time affair, we were afraid that any number of vendors would bail on their promises. In our experience, New Fortune was the only one to do so...

The waitress there are horrible. The food is not too good. Place are kind of dirty.
