    Amazing Venue!

My wife and I held our wedding ceremony at the Oak Canyon Nature Center, and it was such a cute place to get married! They already for an arch, stage, and seating built into at their amphitheater and you are provided with their sound system. There is also the beautiful background of overarching trees and the creek, so we only had to add florals and draping to the arch for everything to look complete. It is also great pricing for a ceremony venue with many great backdrops for photos. The staff were very sweet and accommodating too! We recommend that you consider holding your ceremony at the Oak Canyon Nature Center!

    Fairy tale wedding

I fell in love with this site the second i stepped foot there. It is surrounded by the most amazing trees. There is even a little creek behind the amphitheater. The only downside is there is no "bridal suite" to get ready in.

    Beautiful setting

We were so lucky to stumble upon Oak Canyon Nature Center. This was the perfect low-key ceremony setting and did not require a lot of additional decorations. Very affordable and highly recommended.

I had my wedding ceremony here this weekend and it couldn't have gone smoother.

When I first found out about this site, I immediately fell in love with it. The amphitheater is under gorgeous trees, which help provide a lot of shade. I always wanted an outdoor wedding, and upon finding out how affordable it was to reserve this location, I knew it was the right choice for me. Gina and the staff were very helpful and responsive during the wedding planning process. They allow guests that are disabled to be driven up to the ceremony site, and also provided us with water right before the ceremony, which was extremely helpful as it was 95 degrees this weekend! They also let me stay in the air conditioned building prior to the ceremony, which helped me preserve my hair and makeup!

The pros of this site include them providing a speaker/sound system, and it was very user-friendly. It was very affordable, is gorgeous, has an awesome and helpful staff, and has plenty of parking.

Aside from the sound system, everything else had to be done on our own, such as figuring out decor and an aisle runner. Kim Chi Flowers really helped us with the decor and aisle runner for a very affordable price, so if you are planning a wedding here I strongly recommend them. The only cons I can think of is that if you have a long dress, be prepared for it to get dirty, as you will inevitably be walking on the dirt during photos and as you walk to the aisle. But remember dry cleaning can always get the dirt out! Also, there are some gnats, but that really comes with the territory with outdoor weddings. I was really worried about the dirt and the bugs prior to my wedding, but it turned out so beautifully and perfect I wouldn't change a thing.

All in all, if you want to get married outdoors in a stunningly beautiful area for a really affordable price and don't mind doing some work on your own, really consider booking this site!

We had our wedding ceremony here, and we loved it! The tree cover creates a wonderfully intimate space. Even though it's still open to the public, hikers and walkers are very respectful of the goings-on. You only get the space for an allotted time but it's plenty of time to get there, take pictures, set up any decorations, and have the ceremony. Pictures that are taken here turn out great!

I had my wedding Ceremony held here at the Nature Center and it's a very surreal location. Majestic oak trees make a canopy over the ceremony area and you can hear the birds chirp during the ceremony. This place fills up quick so you have to make sure to book ASAP! It makes for beautiful pictures and if you love nature there is no better location. Booking is easy and they give you a list of things you can and can't do in order to protect its location. I respect that and it's so pretty you don't need much for decorating anyway. The seating area accommodates 100 people easily.

This place was divine =) It was everything that I ever envisioned. Think "Twilight" when u see this place.. lol.. Seriously, who doesn't want to get married under a majestic canopy of old and proud oak trees. It suited me and my husband since we were both nature lovers. The best part, this place is affordable! =)

Oak Canyon Nature Center is the perfect wedding location for those who want a natural wedding in an open, outdoor setting. This truly could not have been more perfect for my husband and I! We wanted a location that was not the typical wedding venue, so I went on a search for locations that allowed me to be surrounded by nature, and gave a real open feeling. Oak Nature Center was it! I was sold the moment I stepped foot there! We got married underneath a huge tree, and were able to bring in the decorations that we wanted to have, which really allowed us to make the setting perfect for us! The staff there were helpful, provided all the necessary equipment for the wedding day, but were not overly involved to the point of frustration, which was nice. If you are a couple that wants natural, outdoors, and creative this is the place for you! I have absolutely not regrets in choosing Oak Nature Center for our wedding. It is also really nice to go back there and go for hike each year for our anniversary! It is fun to be able to go back to the spot where we got married and relive the memories!

Another point to note is truly how affordable it is! Venues can be outrageously expensive, just to rent the space, but Oak Canyon is very reasonable! I highly recommend it!

I got married here last weekend! I think it's becoming more and more popular for weddings since it showed up on a few bridal blogs--and I ran into a few other people taking measurements and stuff as I was doing the same. That being said, I booked the amphitheater about 6 months in advance for our ceremony without a problem. Denise Durkin was the person I dealt with and she was awesome--very knowledgeable, relaxed, and responsive to my emails full of questions.

This place is pretty darn cheap for a ceremony for all the things you get. Included in the 4 hour ceremony rental (about $700) is great microphone system, electricity, access to the Nature Center's restroom (which is much nicer than the public restrooms in the parking lot), they offered the use of their golf cart and driver to escort people from where they were parking to the ceremony site--a life saver for the elderly people attending the ceremony, and basically free reign to use any place in the park.

There are a few things that are NOT included, though, that people should be aware of. First off, this is a public park, which means you cannot close off any portion of it. For our ceremony, there were a few people that walked along the back, but they were barely noticeable. (Honestly, we considered that this might bother us, but for any cheap, public location you are always going to have this problem, but it's not exactly Laguna Beach with tons of tourists stopping to snap pictures. The few people we saw basically stopped for a moment or walked around.) Maybe the most jarring aspect of this caveat though was when another bridal party showed up to take their pre-wedding pictures. They were gone before our actual ceremony started and, honestly, it was kind of funny and we all wished each other congrats.

Of course we had the ceremony in their amphitheater. I would call it small because it sort of feels that way, but our family and friends numbered around 150 people and no one had a problem finding a seat. The location itself is beautiful with a stream running right behind the amphitheater that has plenty of water in it year-round. If you're considering this location, I would actually recommend getting married in the fall rather than spring because there can be a bug problem. We noticed when we were there planning in May and June there were a lot more flies, etc, but the day of the wedding in mid-September there were barely any. Overall, the location is about as dream-like/woodsy as you can get in Southern California. If you are looking for a rustic, outdoor location that is shaded and beautiful, this is as good as it gets. (Just an FYI: tell your photographer that they should be ready for "dappled" light conditions so they can bring the right lenses). Some of my friends described the venue as "lothlorian" from Lord of the Rings, pixie-like, and foresty--but most just called it down-right beautiful. You should be sure to tell your guests to wear closed-toed, flat shoes and warn them that they may get DUSTY!

In 4 hours, we also set up a "cocktail" hour (I put the cocktail in quotations because it was dry; we would've had to apply for a permit from the city to serve alcohol for another 600-700 bucks). Right next to the ceremony location is a nice sized flat area. We put out cocktail tables, benches, and a buffet table to serve drinks and some small foods. We also had a shave ice company come in and set up because we thought it would be a hot day. The nature center staff were fine with all of this and told us we could do whatever we wanted as long as we stayed within our time allotment and didn't have any open flames or decorations that would hurt the natural setting (i.e. confetti, etc). I think with the cleanup we actually went over our 4 hour time limit, but my coordinator said the OCNC staff was very relaxed and didn't charge us for the over-time.

For a ceremony location, this was everything we wanted: cheap, relaxed, picturesque, unique, and memorable. You can also have your reception here for about twice the price, but we figured logistically it would be easier to go somewhere without bugs for the food. (The Anaheim Hills golf course is right up the street, although this isn't where we went.)

A hidden gem with the nicest staff!

Oak Canyon Nature Center ended up being the perfect location for our wedding ceremony! I do advise to read all the rules of what is and isn't allowed on the grounds, but we were able to work around everything they don't allow (it is a nature preserve, there are many harmful items to nature and animals we don't even think about!). Emailing with Liz was easy and the wonderful woman helping us day of was an angel and so helpful!! Thank you to everyone at Oak Canyon Nature Center for having this place available for weddings. It was perfect and wonderful!

    Beautiful venue and friendly service

This is the most beautiful outdoor venue! If you are looking for a forest feel this is the spot. They have designated time slots for two weddings a day; morning or afternoon so you have to fit your schedule into their allotted time frames and they also do not allow any receptions whatsoever so that can also make things hard. But for me the natural beauty and friendly staff made it all worth it!

    Dreamy Location and Wonderful Staff

Oak Canyon is so dreamy. The staff and Lauren were so accommodating and helpful. Can not recommend this place enough! It rained on my wedding day and as I arrived I saw staff wiping down the benches to ensure my guests would be comfortable. Little gestures that go over and above are what make your wedding day so special.

We booked our wedding ceremony here. The staff was friendly, helpful, and prompt within their office hours. Other than that they were pretty laid back and hands off. You can book one of two time slots 8 am- 12 pm or 2 pm - 6 pm. That time includes setup, ceremony, and tear down. More time can be purchased by the hour with your booking. It is very easy to visit the venue for a walk through or planning in the months leading up to your event. Rules and regulations are also easy to follow for nature lovers, no food, no heat sources that can cause fires, etc. Because the venue is always open to the public you will have hikers, etc walking by your event but they are usually quiet and respectful. We had a couple plans fly over head during the ceremony but with the canopy of trees they were not distracting, the sound did show up on our home video though. All in all an absolutely beautiful space for an affordable price!

We had our ceremony here. The location is absolutely gorgeous. You get your seating, sound, and beautiful natural decorations all in one package! Our photos turned out absolutely beautiful. We got married at the end of May and the shade kept it from getting too hot. Only thing to look out for is that 4 hours is not a lot of time to take all pictures, decorate, do a ceremony, and tear down. My advice is to either keep your decorations super simple or have an army to help with setup and tear down. The space is so beautiful you really don't need too much anyway.

This venue is absolutely lovely to to have your ceremony in. Everything that was promised was provided, and they were easy to work with. For less than $700 we had the site from 8am-12pm. The only down side is that that you will have to drive aways to get to most other venues where you might be having your reception. If you are looking for a diy type of place this is perfect for you, if you are looking for a full service type of venue you might want to look at other options. Over all I was very happy with this venue.

Oak Canyon Nature Center is by far the most BEAUTIFUL place to get married. Our ceremony was magical - and how could it not be, with the trees, fresh air, and bird calls? The only thing I wish the center would help with is having a ladder available. It's a little bit of a pain in the butt to have to bring a ladder along with all of your decorations. Still totally doable, but it would have been nice and it's hard to imagine why they don't have a ladder for use for wedding ceremonies. Either way, NO REGRETS. This place is the best.

This was such a beautiful venue! We loved having our wedding here! The price was great compared to a lot of other venues that we looked at. There are certain restrictions to what you can have (no candles or heaters) because of all the trees, and there were certain challenges with lighting and our food truck, but everything worked out and we had a beautiful wedding. Denise was very helpful in answering the many questions that I had leading up to the wedding day. The only issue on the day of was that the battery died on the speakers they provided right before our first dance, but the staff was able to quickly change the battery so that the party could continue.

    Love this venue

It is so pretty and gave us that woodsy vibe I wanted without making us travel too far out of LA. Do keep in mind though this is run by the city and the wedding coordinator is only in the office on Thursdays and Sundays so you will need to plan your visit accordingly.

Oak Canyon is gorgeous and your only chance of a truly natural setting without leaving the Anaheim area. In terms of beauty and atmosphere, Oak Canyon is everything I ever wanted and more. Note there's no area for the bride to get ready, and there's a chance your event will be canceled by excessive rain. Gina was a bit difficult to get a hold of initially, and then she confused the date of my booking appointment with someone else's, but the appointment itself went smoothly. Six months after I booked, she contacted me for an additional $100 because THEY DO NOT LOCK IN PRICE WHEN YOU SIGN A CONTRACT. I expressed my opinion on this terrible business practice, and her response was very well-written and courteous, but I still paid the $100. The day of my rehearsal, we received a call telling us there had been a plumbing accident and the park was closed to the public, although we would be let in. Gina said in an email, "I did not notify you sooner because we were assured that the leak would be fixed". Turns out the "leak" was a water main which had burst the week before, forming a 15 foot sink hole blocking the park's main bridge. The bridge was wrapped in caution tape and there was a bright yellow backhoe parked front and center. In other words, the ceremony area was still accessible, but pretty much nothing else could be reached, including all the areas we had planned to use for photos. Gina told us "no one in the wedding party will be able to go onto or past the first bridge" and to limit our photos to side trails. I notified my photographers (Kayden Studios, bless them) and they went down in person and convinced the man at the desk (not Gina) that we could be permitted to duck under the caution tape and walk very carefully around the sink hole to get to the photo areas on the other side. In the end, that is what we did. I hate to give such a beautiful venue a low rating for disasters beyond their control, but I feel they could have handled the situation better.

I am happy to give my thoughts for the sake of future brides and those darn stress levels. Oak Canyon was lovely. We chose it because we love nature, we liked that we could still have a decent amount of people, minimal decorating, the photos were stunning and the price was right.

The parts we did not enjoy was that although it was minimal decorations needed we had to make all sorts of signs to direct people to the site and it was hard for the elderly to walk on the dirt path. Also, they are literally no help. Very hard to get in contact with and they offer no assistance and no bride room and you are not guaranteed to be able to get inside of the inside area on the day of. For our rehearsal no sound equipment was provided and they basically just let you show up and did nothing else to help. It made things a bit more stressful on top of everything else already going on with wedding planning. They say they have a coordinator for you but they do not. All you are guaranteed is the spot and some sound equipment on the day of.

All in all, it was very beautiful which I was happy about but honestly way too stressful. And it was hard to find somewhere to do the reception because everywhere close by was either too expensive or kind of grungy. So our reception was about 25 minutes away.

I wasn't the only one to have a bad experience there either unfortunately.
