    Old Davie School Venue

Kris and Cindy at the Old Davie School Historical Museum (ODSHM) are absolutely wonderful. I had a list of venues lined up for the day but, after visiting the venue and chatting with them, we canceled all of our other tours, went back, and booked the same day. Kris is extremely personable and made us feel special. She asked us questions about ourselves and genuinely felt interested in getting to know us and our story. Kris and Cindy answered any and all questions I had and provided accommodations and solutions to any issues that arose. ODSHM has two venues to choose from with a host of outdoor photo opportunities. I just really liked the feel of the venue for the kind of wedding reception my fiancé and I are looking for. If you are hosting an event, getting married, etc., then go and take a look! Even if you do not book with them, I have a feeling you will not be disappointed!

Beautiful, Unique and reasonably priced venue!

We wanted a venue in south Florida that wasn’t a beach or a hotel and are really glad we found old davie school. Both the indoor and outdoor areas of the venue are beautiful, and Kris was great to work with. The venue is also really reasonably priced, especially given that they provide chairs for the ceremony and chairs and tables for the reception/cocktail hour. Unfortunately there was a threat of rain on our wedding day and the ceremony had to be moved to the cocktail hour area, but the venue handled the sudden change seamlessly. We would strongly recommend the old davie school!

The staff was very friendly and extremely accommodating to our needs. Kimberly was very friendly and took us on multiple tours of the place, letting us get a real feel for the space. We had the entire wedding at this location. We rented the Amphitheatre so that we could get access to the rest of the outdoor area, as well as the Bridal Suite, Chickee Hut (for the cocktail hour) and of course the Auditorium.
We had an early morning Ceremony outside under the tree cover followed by a Brunch Reception just upstairs in the old auditorium. We provided a layout for all of the furniture and the staff made sure everything was set up just the way we needed it, including the chairs for the ceremony, which was in the round. We neatly fit 100 people under the trees with this setup.
The Bride and bridesmaids were comfortable hanging out in the Bridal Suite before the ceremony, a room in one of the historic houses. It rained that day, but the staff was helpful in managing expectations and providing alternate locations. Thankfully it did not come to that. The Chickee Hut provided a great space for our cocktail hour. It was shaded, easily decorated, and larger than it seems. The staff let us take a few pictures inside one of the old classrooms as well, which was a great touch to our theme.
The auditorium is large and has a lot of windows and lets in a ton of natural lighting. Old Davie School does provide tables and chairs for this room, but we chose to rent alternate chairs that went better with our vision. The original flooring is close to 100 years old and approval is needed for outside furniture/vendors and did create some limitations on what could be used on the tables (i.e. no glitter or candles), but this didn’t affect our wedding theme.
We definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a unique location in a historic setting for an intimate wedding.

outstanding venue! perfect for those Miami brides that want a non-traditional Miami wedding, or want a destination wedding but don't have the bang for that buck. This little Davie gem, looks like you just traveled a long way away from the very loud and crowded city. It is warm and inviting and the staff is just SO pleasant. If you decide to book here, and are a fan of all things vintage or anything with a story, MAKE SURE to check out the museum. They even have a classroom completely intact! THUMBS WAY UP!

This the perfect wedding venue for any bride that is going the DIY route. Unfortunately for me I didn't have another choice as it seems like south florida wants an arm, a leg and rights to your first born child for a decent wedding. I found the Old Davie School House and it was amazing. I am having my ceremony, cocktail hour and reception in the location and the price a AMAZING! Everyone is super friendly and willing to help you with whatever they can. They do however only provide the spaces needed, table and chairs. There is a kitchen onsite for whatever outside catering you want to use. They have the most beautiful hardwood floors and a really cool Tiki Hut outside for cocktail hour. It is a very quaint place and not for an over the top wedding, but perfect for a romantic and elegant affair.

My daughter wanted a country setting. It's a historical building with beautiful wood floors. It was perfect!

I check out different sites to have my wedding, and I could not find anything with my tight budget. This place was better then what I thought, and looked great. If you are unsure about this location, check it out you will be suprised.

Absolutely wonderful. Beautiful site, and the staff was very accommodating. We were allowed to have our rehearsal there for no extra charge, as well as run a bit over on the end of our reception.

    ODS - Wedding Wire
I researched A LOT of venues in South Florida for my wedding. Was in contact with probably 30 venues and visited personally around 10. In the end, I selected ODS and really loved having my wedding there! The price was right, and allowed me the flexibility of using a variety of spaces on the campus to create a unique event. We utilized the outdoor pavilion for our ceremony, pioneer area for cocktail hour, and school house building for reception. Pros: staff is responsive, venue is affordable, and the whole place just has a really cool, unique vibe that is different from a typical hotel or ballroom venue. Cons: landscaping is not immaculate, but it was not bad enough to dissuade us from selecting them. There are some challenges on the back end for a caterer, and you need a caterer who really knows what they are doing and how to maneuver in the building, which has one hold elevator and not a lot of prep space. Mosquitos can be an issue at certain times of year. The back of the venue is a residential area and so we did have some “close calls” with bike riders on a nearby bike trail riding into our ceremony! Also, facility does not offer a lot in the way of “getting ready spaces.” Even with that all said, we made it work, and I would have my wedding there again in a heartbeat!

We loved our venue so much! It's beautiful and a great value. Because it is a historical venue, they do have a lot of rules (ex. if you want to bring in your own chairs, there's a fee for them to inspect and approve the chairs), so make sure you look into all the fees. They do add up.

The school is very picky about certain things as they are a historical site - no live plants (cut flowers are OK of course), no candles, no sand, no glitter, no confetti, no rice, no birdseed, no rehearsal... But overall, the site is gorgeous and I felt great about giving my business to a historical site and important community landmark rather than a hotel or country club.
