Beth and Tony were wonderful to work with! We were absolutely in love with the landscape, fireplace and tent. Felt very much like who we are as a couple and we luckily had stunning (if not cold) weather! Highly recommend. Great facilities for getting ready and plenty of room! -

Our wedding at Old Lystra Inn was an absolute dream come true! It checked all our boxes and then some-- a beautiful, intimate gathering space, flexibility in choosing our vendors, and a delightful team to work with us throughout. The scenery provided by the venue is gorgeous in photos, and allows a huge amount of space for guests to enjoy. We loved the opportunity to spread out, play lawn games, and have a camp fire for marshmallow roasting.
Tony & Beth are accommodating, easy-going, and there to make sure your day is exactly as you hope it to be. They made the entire planning process (even amidst COVID) stress-free. -

The Old Lystra Inn is so elegant! If you like the outdoors and are looking for a classic place for your wedding, look no further. There are so many aspects of the Inn you will fall in love with. Beth and Tony are great hosts and very supportive throughout the planning process. They allow you to select your own vendors but provide recommendations on those who have been great to work with. You will have access to the Inn on your special day with very spacious bridal and groom suites. We were so ecstatic to be able to make our lifetime memories at the Old Lystra Inn! The Old Lystra Inn, Ashley, and the Pendola family are just lovely! Not only was the venue breathtaking, but it provided the best space for us and our guests to play and celebrate — HUGE cathedral tent, outdoor restrooms, double lawn space, patio, and bonfire area. We had the time of our lives and so did our guests! We would 100% recommend this place and people to help host your most special day! -

If you're looking for southern charm, unmatched hospitality, and venue owners that immediately feel like family - look no further. Beth, Tony, and their family members went above and beyond to give us a wedding that was a magical dream come true. The historic venue was the backbone to our simple southern style- complete with a gorgeous fire pit that kept our guests warm and a romantic garden-party style ceremony setting with gorgeous magnolia and bamboo trees as far as the eye can see. The groomsmen enjoyed their classy and comfortable suite upstairs while the bridesmaids got ready in the sunlit hair & makeup room. Not to mention the luxury we experienced in the gorgeous bridal suite that gave us lots of room to relax, dress, take photos, etc. From planning to execution, this venue delivered above and beyond what we ever could of hoped for! So take the leap, give them a call, and schedule a visit. Starting our lives here as husband and wife was the greatest choice we have ever made and we have no doubt you will love it too! -

Prom under the stars
Old Lystra in is absolutely amazing! Its a beautiful rustic chic venue. They have multiple amazing places for photos so everyone is unique. It ended up raining at my event but they supplied the cutest clear umbrellas. They really thought of everything! The owners of Old Lystra Inn are some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. I’m so thankful that they opened up there land and home for others to enjoy. If prom was this amazing I can only imagine how wonderful weddings must be! I hope to come to more events here -

Our wedding experience was very unique due to the Covid-19 pandemic. In 2020, my husband and I got married at Old Lystra in an intimate wedding ceremony. A year later, we would finally have our wedding celebration with all our friends and family together. During those two years, we were able to get to know Beth & Tony, and quickly discovered what genuine and caring people they were. From being so flexible with rescheduling multiple times because of gathering restrictions, giving us fair pricing when booking, being available to help answer any questions or concerns we had, to making our special day(s) personalized right down to the very last detail. Throughout our entire experience with Beth & Tony, they treated us like family and helped in any possible way they could. For instance, on our wedding day, we wanted to live stream our event so our friends and family members could watch from home. Beth & Tony went as far as helping setup the computer and figuring out all the connections and wiring in order to make it work. They even stood by during the ceremony to monitor the live stream and ensure it continued working. NO OTHER venue would have gone above and beyond the way Beth & Tony did! My husband and I are forever grateful for our experience with them and for their gracious hospitality. For any future couples searching for the perfect place to get married, Old Lystra will not disappoint! We promise you'll get more love, happiness, and priceless memories than you could ever bargain for! -

Thanks to the Old Lystra Inn our wedding day was perfect. The venue is so beautiful and perfect. Beth and Tony take meticulous care of the property, are perfect hosts, and make everything seamless. We could not have imagined a more perfect setting for our wedding. I would give them 100 stars if possible. -

Our wedding at Old Lystra Inn exceeded all expectations we could have possibly had for our big day. The owners- Tony and Beth are phenomenal! Even their sweet daughter offered to help a ton. Beth's right hand (wo)man was amazing, she seriously was like a day of coordinator. She communicated with me all day to ease any worries I might have had. She even fanned me to cool me off while we were doing first touch pictures, Ha! This venue is the most beautiful I've seen. The price point is right in line (almost slightly cheaper) with most venues in the area. However, you get SO MUCH with Old Lystra. For the rehearsal, they allowed us to drop everything off and opened their doors to us. I opted to pay a small fee to allow my 4 bridesmaids and myself to spend the night prior to the wedding day. It was the best decision ever! We woke up in the venue, showered, had a nice home cooked breakfast, and then made our way to the sun room for hair and makeup. ZERO stress! There were so many people behind the scenes working hard to make our big day perfect, it was so amazing to watch. Beth and Tony are so very accommodating! The venue speaks for itself, it is absolutely stunning! I would hands down recommend this venue to anyone planning a wedding. -

I could not have asked for venue owners better than Beth and Tony. They were so incredibly accommodating, flexible, thoughtful, and kind. They really went above and beyond what they needed to do in order to make us happy and at ease and they were so kind and generous to all of our family and guests as well.
The house and gardens are so beautiful and it was the perfect place for our wedding. I would 100% recommend Old Lystra to anyone looking for an outdoor wedding venue. -

The Perfect Day!
The Old Lystra Inn was exactly the venue we were looking for! Beth and Tony are so laid back and made it easy to plan our perfect wedding without having to jump through hoops! Mother Nature threw every obstacle at us that she could and the staff at Old Lystra made it like nothing ever happened after the Carolina Blue skies finally opened up! We are so thankful for everyone at the Old Lystra Inn and would highly recommend to any brides and grooms! -

Jarrett Sent on 05/07/2018We absolutely LOVED having our wedding at Old Lystra Inn! We had searched high and low for a venue where we could have an outdoor ceremony, that was in close proximity to Chapel Hill, and that fit within our budget. Old Lystra Inn delivered on all three of these requirements. As soon as we arrived, we were overwhelmed by the natural beauty of the surrounding area and welcoming atmosphere that Beth and Tony have cultivated there. We also loved that the site didn't require many additional rentals - the price included the reception tent, tables and chairs for guests, and access to guest bathrooms. We looked at several other venues that would have required us to rent some or all of these items.
The grounds are landscaped in a way that makes it feel as though excessive decorating is unnecessary. Not to mention that there is a beautiful arbor installed on the ceremony site, and chandeliers hanging in the reception tent.
On the day of our wedding, the Old Lystra Inn team was incredibly helpful and accommodating. Our guests seemed to love the venue as much as we did, and the next morning, Beth made us an amazing breakfast.
If you are looking for a beautiful outdoor venue with flexible and welcoming hosts, Old Lystra Inn is your best bet. -

Anna Sent on 05/19/2018I could not speak more highly of the Old Lystra Inn. This venue far exceeded our expectations and truly made our wedding day unforgettable. The property consists of a beautiful historic home located just minutes from downtown Chapel Hill. We had guests from all over the world who loved the selection of hotels nearby. The home is perfectly decorated and impeccably clean. And the outdoor landscape is just as classic and timeless as the home itself.
What really set this venue apart is the family who owns it. The Pendola family is professional, personable, and truly treated us like family. They were consistently available to answer any questions by phone or email and hosted us for tea and coffee on multiple occasions to help us prepare. Another thing that sets the Old Lystra Inn apart is the ability to choose all of your own vendors. We loved being able to choose the caterer, DJ, etc. So many other venues restrict you to a list of very expensive vendors. In addition, amenities that normally costs thousands of dollars (tent, chairs, linens, etc) were all included.
As many brides anxiously anticipate the weather on their wedding day, I was hoping and praying for clear skies. I never thought I would say it, but I love that it poured rain on our wedding day. The ceremony and reception inside the tent was elegant and simply stunning. And the photos taken outdoors with umbrellas are my absolute favorite. Rain or shine, this venue is incredibly romantic and captivating.
Looking back, we would not change a single aspect of this venue and highly recommend it without a single reservation. -

When the bartender didn't have ice, they provided it, the catering company ran out of trash bags, they provided it, the bride needed transportation at the end of the night and they provided it. This is a family run business and it shows. The owners truly care about the bride/groom. Most venues open the doors and come back to lock up, the owners of Lystra Inn were there helping out and setting tables etc. This venue is beautiful and the Owners are simply amazing!!!!!

The owners are the kindest people you'll ever meet and they'll do things for you that you won't even realize you'll need done! The inn is beautiful inside and out! The Old Lystra Inn is the most stunning wedding venue in North Carolina. The home itself is absolutely beautiful and every corner of the property provides a surprise.
Each part of the experience of working with Beth and Tony is catered to the COUPLE and their needs. The home has room after room of opportunity for the wedding party to be able to enjoy the entire day long. We loved being able to choose each of our vendors without restriction, allowing us to truly customize our perfect day. The massive tent, tables, beautiful crossback chairs, chandeliers, and dance floor are all included, saving us literal THOUSANDS.
Beth and Tony are warm, kind, and calm amidst the chaos of planning and replanning that this COVID bride had to undergo. I am honored to have been married here and would recommend them over and over again.
