    Wedding at OLTC

Our wedding at OLTC was the best day ever! Stefanie and her team were so helpful and there for us whenever we needed them! They went above and beyond for us on our special day. Throughout the wedding planning process Stef was so flexible and made being a Corona Bride easy! We received wonderful feedback from family and friends on how lovely their experience was. I would definitely recommend OLTC to anyone planning a wedding!

Krug Catering at Orange Lawn Tennis Club hosted my wedding on 7/1/17 and it was nothing short of spectacular. Mimi and Mary were amazing to work with and made sure everything we wanted was executed to perfection. We had planned to have our ceremony outside, but due to the impending rain we had to bring it inside. Mary and Mimi made sure to make it look absolutely beautiful, and with the large windows in the ballroom it was as if we were outside anyway. The food was BEYOND INCREDIBLE- our guests are still raving about the food pairings and how delicious everything was. Chef Krug is truly a genius! Our bartender, Nick made us an awesome signature cocktail that was a huge hit as well. Our maître d', Khizer and my bridal attendant, Marjorie were amazing as well and could not have been more attentive and helpful! Together this extraordinary team truly made it the best day of our lives.

    Orange Lawn Tennis Club's reply:

Thanks so much Christy! It was our pleasure. Lots and love and joy to you both.
    :)

My husband and I had the most amazing wedding day thanks to Chef Krug, Mimi and Mary! The entire experience was wonderful from start to finish. This venue is very elegant but also has a very personal feel. I would split our experience into three categories: 1) logistics, 2) food and 3) wedding reception.

    1) Mimi and Mary were so organized and such a pleasure to work with for the wedding day logistics. Both are so kind, personable, and were very understanding even when we had last minute changes the week leading up to the wedding. They are truly a great pair to work with!

    2) Chef Krug did a fantastic job with the food! This is not your run of the mill wedding food- this is gourmet, seasonal and delicious. He was very helpful and spoke with us during the tasting as we decided exactly food options we would choose. People were raving about the high quality of all the food served. We couldn't have been happier with this!!

    3) On the day of the wedding everything ran seamlessly. We had over 200 guests and all went off without a hitch. The staff was very professional and attentive. Orange Lawn is the most beautiful venue and I wouldn't have changed a single thing about our wedding day!!

WOW wow wow!! Mimi and the Krug Catering team at Orange Lawn Tennis Club were absolutely amazing. Mimi is an incredibly talented florist, decorator and event planner. I have worked with her in the past, but she blew us away and exceeded my already high expectations with what she was able to deliver for our wedding. Our bouquets were beautiful, the decor was flawless, and everything went off without a hitch from start to finish. Mimi took personal care to ensure that not only the day, but the entire planning process, was perfect. She has an eye for design, impeccable taste, and more creativity and artistry than any other event coordinator/manager I have come across. It is amazing that she is able to manage so many logistics AND provide impeccable flowers and decor with such ease. She sources the most incredible flowers, and you can be sure that your bouquet will be both gorgeous and UNIQUE. Also, the food and service that Krug Catering provided was phenomenal. This is not your typical NJ wedding caterer. Chef is just that, a CHEF. His farm-to-table approach makes such a difference in the quality and originality of his dishes. From cocktail hour down to the very last bite of dessert, my guests could not stop raving about not only the taste of the food, but the variety and creativity of the menu. I still have guests calling me about the brisket at cocktail hour. The options are plentiful and the quality is unmatched. The extra add-ons are well worth the money spent (we did the vintage ice cream truck and the grab-and-go sliders/grilled cheese/fries at the end of the night)... such a huge hit with our guests! Our only disappointment in the night is how quickly it went! We would do it all over again in a heartbeat, and we wouldn't change a single thing! If you are looking for a truly unique wedding in the midst of all the over-used and over-done NJ venues, one that will provide an experience so completely personalized to you, please visit the team at OTLC!

My daughter's wedding was just wonderful! Our 165 guests raved about the ambiance, food, flowers, comfort, and much more. Everyone from Chef Krug (fabulous) to Mimi (the manager), to the event manager, the Maître D, the bartenders, servers, and bridal attendant were attentive, professional, respectful and very hardworking. The day of the wedding was remarkably calm for us and our daughter due to all the hard work of the staff of Krug Catering. We really couldn't have asked for anything better!

We recently got married on July 3, 2016 and could not have asked for a better venue, service, attention to detail, and the list goes on and on! Mimi and Mary are the epitome of professionalism and helped make mine and my husband's vision come to life. We got married 4th of July weekend 2016 and wanted a menu to reflect a sort of upscale BBQ theme and the staff and Chef Krug hit it out of the park. Guests are still raving about the cocktail hour and dinner. Dinner consisted of the most tender brisket you've ever had, along with watermelon salad, mac and cheese (!!) and chicken with homemade BBQ sauce - all presented in such an upscale manner that our guests' faces lit up as they were served. The bar staff was great and made sure every guest was well taken care of. The ambiance of the ballroom transitioning from dusk into nighttime was beautiful and complimented by the large panoramic windows. Rather than a traditional dessert table, we opted for the vintage ice cream truck where guests could choose any type of ice cream bar they wanted - it was so fun! To end the night, guests lit 3 foot long sparklers for us set up by Mimi and it was truly an unforgettable moment.
We truly could not have asked for a better staff and experience for our 190 person formal wedding. No detail was left untouched by Mimi, Mary, and Chef Krug. Thank you and I hope to be able to come back and attend more and more weddings at this exquisite venue!

Orange Lawn Tennis Club in South Orange is the perfect place for anyone who wants something different from most New Jersey wedding venues. It’s certainly elegant, but it’s not dripping with chandeliers, damask and mirrors.

    THE VENUE
Beautiful inside and out. The clubhouse reminds me of a stately country estate, complete with a cozy living room; the ballroom was a recent addition to the house, but it was done seamlessly, and it looks great from the outside. Cocktail hour was held in several rooms (however, they have a nice flow and openness, so guests couldn’t feel like they were trapped in a room). The fact that OLTC isn't the standard opulent wedding venue allowed us to put personal touches throughout without them competing with the existing decor - we had framed photos of us and our families placed on the various fireplace mantels, and we were able to have paper lanterns in the ballroom.

The grounds are substantial (mostly green, no gardens), and the drive up the hill to the clubhouse is lovely.

We had our ceremony in a church, but on-site ceremonies are held on a grassy area outside the ballroom flanked by a big tree. I’m assuming the ceremony is held in the ballroom if the weather isn’t agreeable.

    PRICING
It's on the high end, but it does only hold one event at a time. The price varies, because the cocktail hour is customizable, but the base price starts at around $150 per guest. We only did a couple of add-ons, but for a full-blown cocktail hour spread comparable to traditional New Jersey venues, I think you could easily end up paying $190+ per guest. Also, there is no Viennese table offered – just the dessert that comes after dinner (and the cake, which is also not included in the cost). But quality was more important to us than quantity - and people still managed to get stuffed at our wedding!

NOTE: The rating I've given the club in the "Value for Cost" category takes into account what many people in this area define "value" as - very large amounts of good food. My definition of value is a good amount of excellent food, as well as top-notch service and the quality of the venue. So while personally, I give this venue a 5 out of 5 in this category, for the purposes of this review, I'm giving it a 4.5 out of 5.

    FOOD
It was amazing – great flavor combinations that elevated the dishes beyond the standard wedding beef and fish, and they were presented beautifully. My husband and I are serious foodies, and we were more than satisfied. I don’t want to dwell too much on the food because Ariane Duarte (of CulinAriane in Montclair and Top Chef’s fifth season) has stopped catering events at the club. She has been replaced by Lance Knowling of Indigo Smoke in Maplewood. I'm sure the food will still be terrific!

    SERVICE
Lisa was wonderful. She was friendly and enthusiastic during the planning process, and a great maître d’ at our event … she e-mailed us after the wedding to let us know she froze the top layer of our cake – something that we didn’t think of asking her to do amid the wedding-day chaos!

    POSSIBLE CONCERNS
A minor quibble: We were seated at the corner of the ballroom, and the music sounded muddled (and sometimes unrecognizable). I don't know if this had to do with the room's acoustics (the ceilings are very high) or if it was on the DJ's end. When we were dancing, the music sounded fine. I mention this to be helpful to couples planning their weddings here, not as a critique of the club or the DJ.

    ------

Overall, it was a perfect evening for us - and also our guests. One of them said that in her long life, she had been to so many weddings - but she had never been to one that reflected the newlyweds' personalities. This was an amazing compliment - we wouldn't have been able to implement all our personal touches at a generic wedding factory. Hearing comments like that made it clear we made the right choice with Orange Lawn Tennis Club.

We had our wedding at Orange Lawn Tennis Club in September 2016. We worked extensively with Mary, Chef Rich, and Mimi. First of all, shout out to Chef Rich who is a truly talented artist in the kitchen. As soon as we had our tasting, we knew the food was a stand out at this venue - up there with some of the fine dining experiences we've had in NYC. The quality of the food and the flexibility of our package were the primary reasons we chose the venue and everyone raved about the food we served both at the cocktail hour and the dinner. Mary and Mimi proved to be steadfast, diligent, knowledgeable event planners. We had absolutely nothing to worry about the day of--Mary even emergency repaired my wife's dress with some handy needlework! The venue looked beautiful the day of and our guests loved the intimate feeling the cocktail hour rooms provided and the ballroom was simply stunning. We loved our wedding at Orange Lawn Tennis Club and thanks to everyone there for making our day unforgettable!

We fell in love with the venue and the food at Orange Lawn Tennis Club. We got so many compliments that it was not a stuffy wedding and that our guests felt at home. The food is the main reason why we booked at OLTC. Chef Krug is a true professional and the food did not disappoint! They took our food preferences into consideration when making our menu and created a German station for us that all of our guests raved about. Chef worked with us to have our duet entrée be a Mediterranean theme. This was an experience that our guests truly loved. The seafood bar did not disappoint. The beer selection was on point. Lastly, we had a bridal attendant who was great. She stayed with us during the entire cocktail hour to make sure that we could still eat some food and mingle with guests (she even helped bustle my dress which was a huge help!).

We did feel that our wedding coordinators were not as responsive as we would have liked. Mimi and Mary have the expertise, but they need to work on their communication with clients. Details were missed such as not putting our cake topper on our cake and using a different icing than we requested. This didn’t take away from our day, but we wish that these errors were caught. Also, cleaning up was hectic. It seemed like there was no plan in place from the staff and a lot of our personalized items did not get packed away (even though we provided a detailed list of all the items we brought). We went back the next morning and had to search throughout the venue to collect the items right before an afternoon wedding was about to start.

Overall, we loved our wedding and would not have changed a thing. However, we do feel that there is room for some improvement.

Although my husband and I had a beautiful wedding at Orange Lawn Tennis Club – and received SO many compliments from our guests on the beautiful space and amazing food – there are some glaring negatives to this venue.
The only thing my husband cared about in a venue was the food, which was part of the reason why we chose OLTC in the first place. For our first tasting, I told Mimi my husband had an allergy to shellfish and tree nuts, and she ensured me that there would be no menu items with those ingredients, or they would be taken out. We arrived for our tasting, and the first thing that comes out is an oyster shooter – something he could not have. He was incredibly upset, and although Mimi apologized, this was a less than thrilling first experience. Throughout the planning process, I communicated his allergies to both Mimi and Mary again – both of them promising he would not receive a meal with nuts/shellfish. On our wedding night when we sat down for our first course, my husband’s salad had nuts. Again, he was very upset. After spending quite a bit of money, and communicating our needs clearly multiple times, this was just disappointing.
Communication was AWFUL. I had to email and call both Mimi and Mary multiple times before receiving a single response. Mimi, specifically, seemed to just disappear the months between signing our contract and getting married. There was also several instances of miscommunication between myself and Mimi/Mary. For example, after monitoring the weather the entire two weeks before the wedding, I was happy to see that the rain cleared for our date. While our plan was to have it outside, Mimi made the executive decision to move it inside without even telling me – assuming that I already knew. This is just one example of the several instances of miscommunication!
Overall, we had a truly beautiful wedding and we will forever cherish the memories we made at our wedding, but it could use some improvement on the side of the coordinators.

If you only want good food come to this venue. Otherwise service was terrible. On site event coordinator left after introductions and maitre d was non existent. Didn't get items which were in our contract (I.e table wine service, cake for all guests to name a few).. At the end of the day parents are so excited for their children and enjoying the festivities that they should not have to worry about what the guests are experiencing.
