I felt like Julie was part of my wedding party

Julie was a great planner and florist for our wedding! We were out of town and planning a destination wedding and Julie even helped us with a Face Time virtual tour of the venue so we could do a walkthrough to discuss the decorations.

She was always a call or text away, and I felt like she went above and beyond with her attention to detail.

    Don’t stop at flowers

I originally hired Julie to do the flowers for my wedding, but after speaking with them, I ended up hiring her team to do the lighting for our outdoor event and to provide cold spark machines for our introduction and first dance.

By the time we had our event, we had added a photo booth green wall and champagne wall, and we worked with Julie’s team of vendors to add linens and other decor items to the event. And I’m glad I did, let me tell you why.

First, our original planner was almost non responsive to us, which is why we went with Julie. She always answers her phone and she knows people who do good work for better prices than we saw from our planner (see other reviews). We were in love with the rental arch and the ideas Julie suggested (like potted orchids for table numbers) that were much more creative.

The team was on point on the day of the wedding. They showed up early to make sure the other vendors were in place and had everything they needed and Julie was there to calm my nerves and show me sneak peek photos so I knew everything was coming together.

Working with one team to coordinate all of the moving pieces seemed silly before I got into the process but in the end it was so much easier than trying to juggle all of the people individually. I loved working with Julie and Barry and have already passed her number on to a guest who is engaged.

    Loved the Colors!

Worked with Julie and team on a styled editorial shoot to create a luxury beachfront wedding experience in the Florida Keys at Playa Largo resort. Not only did she and her team go the extra mile for us, bringing along a mountain of extra items that really made our ceremony and reception spaces pop, but the florals themselves were so beautiful and impressive.

    Superb florals

Needed something custom for my event that would stand out and not look store-bought. What I got was nothing short of amazing! Highly recommended and would definitely use again and again!

    Amazing Work and Amazing Team

Paradise Petals was amazing. From day one, they broke down all of their pricing and worked with me on the best flower options for the look I wanted. The sample mock up I ordered was delivered promptly and more than met my expectations. And the wedding itself was great. Zero stress. Excellent communication. Amazing amazing flowers.

    Top Quality and Excellent Service

Julie was a blast to work with! She was there to hold my hand every step of the way whether we had questions about adding new flowers I found on Pinterest or problems with another vendor (she made a great recommendation for a replacement). Her pricing is fair and upfront and her proposal was detailed and thorough, which was the first thing that stood our about the.

The team was early, worked hard, and all of our centerpieces, our ceremony arch, and our custom floral installations looked just like I had imagined them in my head. Our bridal flowers were flawless and she was available to be sure we were happy with all of the items herself.

    Creative and Impressive

Julie worked with us to build my wedding vision. We wanted large installations on our gazebo and throughout the venue, and she was able to work with us and her builder to make customized hanging installations and large structures for our photos. She has a great attention to detail, and above all else, SHE WAS AVAILABLE. Out of all of my wedding vendors, Julie never hesitated to take a call, offer an opinion, answer questions, brainstorm ideas or work with her team and partners to help me make my vision a reality. She eased a lot of our stress.

If I could I would give zero stars. It was tragic and can never be corrected.

Julie started out really strong, returning calls returning emails and seemed to truly care about her work and delivering a beautiful memory. But it turned out to be one of the worst experiences with a vendor. The mood board she contracted with me was completely different from what she actually set up on the day of my daughters wedding. I feel betrayed and robbed of what was suppose to be the most beautiful event ever thrown for my only daughter. I’ll start with the table seating. I was supposed to get a champagne wall instead I got a 3 shelf unit. Julie used tiny glass jars and used babies breathe which looked really nice on the mood board but in person the labels she printed guest names on were in tiny font, and it was hard to read them. Also, they were stained with watermarks on them.
The centerpieces were supposed to be tall glass cylinders, the tallest 22 inches, followed by 19 inches and the smallest 17 inches, a 3-tier format. The ones placed on the table were much smaller, like 9,7,5 inches. Which really made the whole reception look bare. It was so heartbreaking. But the most painful disappointment was the arch. julie set up a flimsy arch that was falling apart; The arch was slight, unlike the picture on my mood board. she mentioned that because of the wind, they couldn't add more flowers.
My wedding planner requested them to add greenery to the bottom of the arch several times because all the floral foam was exposed. They had flowers and foliage left with them, and they gave bunches of greenery to the wedding planner and she placed in the bottom arrangements to try to cover some of the floral foam.

Myselve, and my wedding planner tried reaching Julie bc we couldn’t find the bouquets, flower girl petals or boutonnières she wouldn’t respond. We couldn’t take photos on time bc we couldn’t find the flowers. Per a text confirmation(I will provide pics) the arch was to be transferred after the ceremony to the sweetheart table. It was not transferred, and my daughter had a Barenaked sweetheart table. It was so incredibly heartbreaking.

All the floral bouquets for the bridal party were falling apart; the hydrangeas looked dead on arrival, and the Grossman boutonnières were also. The flowers were left in the ballroom Julie didn’t tell anyone where to find them. We couldn’t find her anywhere. We finally realized after several phone calls and texts, that she just dumped him on the table and left and didn’t tell anyone where to find them so the timeline for our photos were late, which causes a domino effect for the rest of the timeline.

After the ceremony, Julie was suppose to transfer the arch to the sweetheart table same venue just different ballroom. This is actually standard with most florists. Julie was nowhere to be found. The sweetheart table was completely bare no flowers at all. I’m still in tears when I see these photos. See attached photos. Julie also said her and her team will come at the end of the night to break down and retrieve all the centerpieces etc. we never saw her she dumped everything never responded to our calls till this day three days later she still hasn’t responded to any of my text or phone calls.

I truly didn’t want to leave a bad review because like I said she did start out pretty strong and pretty good but I’ve sent so many texts and voicemails, begging and pleading with her to just please help me understand what happened and the only conclusion I can come up with by her, staying silent, and ignoring, is that she planned all along to just take my money and dump everything. I’ve attached photos as proof of everything.

    Paradise Petals's reply:

In reading this review, I am honestly shocked at the number of false claims and fictions laid out in it. Yvette, I wish I could say that you got bad information from a planner who was already fabricating stories before the event (such as claiming she “had been trying to reach me for days” 2 minutes after leaving me a single voicemail to cover for being weeks behind on her own “day of”timeline), but for several allegations you make, you have personal knowledge that they are simply untrue.

Each piece that you ordered was delivered, on time, to value or above. We were on site for hours on the day of your event with no comment or concerns raised. And yet, reading this review, any prospective bride would have no idea the dozens of conversations you and I had, the extra time, funds and effort put into your daughter’s event, nor that the items you’re listing concerns over were either not a part of your order (e.g., sweetheart table floral), beyond our control to manage (e.g., moving the arch - which falls under the uncommunicated venue limitations clause in our contract), items that were comped to you above and beyond the order itself (e.g., the favor wall), or pure fiction to make it seem as though our entire experience with you was absolutely horrific. Allow me the opportunity to elaborate:

First, you are correct that you and I were in regular contact for 7 months leading up to the wedding. I answered calls and texts at all hours of the day and night without any issue, unless I was setting up for another event - as I was this past Saturday and Sunday, and you know that I have a rule about focusing only on the bride’s day during each set up. That you’re so enraged at not being able to reach me for three days is proof itself that I was available to you at your leisure for months, but you knew going into this agreement that I had another event booked for the weekend and that Mother’s Day is the busiest weekend of the year for florists. Most vendors aren’t available to clients on holidays or weekends at all, but this past weekend I was booked solid from Thursday through Monday, which I took off to celebrate the holiday and my son’s end of the school year with him.

On the day of your daughter’s wedding, my team arrived at 1:30, as indicated, and we were with your planner and the venue planner for 4+ hours during set up, without a single missed call or text from you (and I logged on to AT&T to confirm this in my phone records). My final stop before leaving the venue was to your bridal suite (a room number your planner had not shared until 4:30 pm). Because I was in your room with you before 5:00 (re-trimming bouquet stems because your daughter requested a shorter handle) I know that you’re aware you had the bouquets before your photographer arrived (at 5:00) so missing bouquets could not have been the cause for any delays in your photo schedule, as you allege in your review. More on the bouquets below.

We told you we would be clearing out about an hour before your ceremony start time (at 5:00) so our departure at 5:30 was also in accordance with all of our communications. There was no indication from the planner or from you that there was an issue with dead flowers or the replacement wall during our entire time on site - and as you note yourself, your planner saw that we had extra stems (as we always bring to events), so if there was a dead stem, it would have been a very easy fix. That there was no ask shows that there was no issue.

Once we loaded up and left the venue (at 5:30), there were 2 missed calls between 5:30 and 6, which I didn’t get until after our strike. This is because my partner had loaded my phone into his car with our materials by mistake while I ran up to your room, but the calls could not have been to track down your bouquets as you allege, because you already had them at least 45 minutes before the call when I got to your room. I also don’t have a single missed call from your planner for the whole day, likely because we were in the same room as her for most of it and it wouldn’t make sense for her to be calling us when she was standing right with us - so again, I’m not sure why she’s claiming that she called me, because calling would have been illogical, given our physical proximity to her for the entire day. Moreover, I had no reason to expect a call, because *all* of your pieces had been delivered, set, and when I asked your daughter on leaving the room at 5:15 if she needed anything further, she said no. I wished you both good luck and congratulations and left with no indication that there was any issue with the florals.

Going back to the beginning: on arrival at 1:30, we immediately placed all of the personals on the first table in the reception space, closest to where your planner was sitting. She indicated that she would take them up to the room (a room number not shared with us, but it is not uncommon for planners to take possession of personals). The flowers were not dead, as can be seen in your own photo of your daughter’s bouquet on the sweetheart table, hours later. However, if the hydrangea did drop at any point, it’s because they were not kept in the vases we provided (as can be seen in your photo, with the bouquet laying on the table instead of being in water).

Regarding the favor wall, you didn’t order a champagne wall through us. You contacted me one evening with an inspiration photo for floral place cards, which I offered to help you with (for free) for the cost of the jars and floral stems. To display them, I offered you (again, for free) use of an espresso-stained favor shelf that we have and you asked me to instead comp you a $500 champagne wall (and the labor for delivery and set up and strike) because you wanted something white. I told you that we would *try* to use it, but that I had concerns because the racks were not designed as shelves and had holes for glasses. When the wall was brought down from storage (you knew I didn’t have it handy to check until the last minute) the jars wouldn’t stand. So, we loaded up the espresso shelf and, at my own expense, I went to several stores looking for a white bookshelf (two Home Goods, Z Gallerie, Hobby Lobby and finally Target) and bought the only solid white shelf available. I could have simply called to say it didn’t work and left you to find a solution, but I acted as best I could to replace a free item on your order at my own expense, with no obligation to do so.

When we arrived at the venue, I immediately made your planner aware of this change and the challenge of finding a white replacement, and we set that piece up first *so that she could confirm it with you,* or we could have switched out for the custom-built espresso piece we had originally offered, which was higher quality but the wrong color. Again, these steps were taken at no cost to you, at my own expense, and were not a part of our contract with you, but were completed to go above and beyond your order, and to make your daughter’s day match her vision.

Regarding the favors themselves - we designed labels to match an inspiration photo you sent, and tracked down the exact jars used in your inspiration photo (at Michael’s, which we shared with you). I not only sent you a photo of them, but I made a mock up for you to approve, which you said you loved. And while you paid materials cost for 60 jars and flower stems, you provided us with a list of nearly 90 names, and again; to go above and beyond, we provided you with 50% more favors than were ordered to meet your vision of a ring of favors on the tables. Not only did we do this, but I personally spent more than 2 full work days designing each label for each guest (each piece had to have the name and table number entered, then re-sized for print with bleed lines) and we were flexible with the deadlines we set to have the names and table assignments and worked on several revisions at the last minute without charging either for the labor or for the rush fees included in our contract for changes less than 30 days from the wedding date. None of this labor was billed, and we provided you with substantially more than was ordered.

If there were water stains on the jars, they were caused after the wall was set, possibly by meal stickers being placed on the backs of them and the jars (which were full of water) being tipped forward to do so. The attached photo shows that they were delivered and placed undamaged and un-stained. Regarding the size, again, they were done to match your inspiration photo and we provided you with a mock up - both the inspiration photo and mock up showed the size of the pieces, and the font size on the mock up was the exact same font size used on the final pieces, which you approved. There was no bait and switch.

While we originally booked your event to use our gold hoop arch, it wasn’t until one of our final calls that your daughter indicated that what she wanted was a white arbor - and not the hoop arch you and I had discussed - and I ordered one at the same rate we would charge for a rental that is in our inventory because it wasn’t one of the options you were presented with as a rental. Again, I could simply have told you that we didn’t carry the style your daughter wanted or offered you an opportunity to order one yourself and build the floral to an arch that was already set on site, but we tried to order a piece to match her photos you sent - and that was what was delivered. Other than the gold hoop, all of our rental arches are made of wood to ensure bulk and sturdiness, but this was your daughter’s vision and request.

As for the arch being moved…again, I was very clear with our requirements to move the arch: we had to have a clear path free of guests to transport it, because of the liability of moving a bulky and heavy 7x5x2 pre-built arch through people. It is also a labor charge we didn’t bill you for (2 team members waiting at the venue an additional 2 hours plus transfer time) and we agreed to do it without charge *as long as* there was a clear path, which you assured us there was. However, on arrival at the venue, we were told that the only path to move it would involve going down a hallway where a check in/raffle table for a separate event had been placed (past which the arch would not have fit), and then through the lobby bar and main lobby. (See venue map). We were not offered use of any service corridors or alternate routes, so there was no way to move it, and had you told us when initially asked that we would have to walk the arch through the path described above, I would never have agreed to it. This was also communicated to your planner during the arch set up, and again, you were never billed for a transfer, but only for the ceremony set - which was completed.

While you settled on a thin garland-style overlay for budget reasons, to aim for your daughter’s original vision, I designed above the budget and inspiration photos we agreed on, to provide you with a more full look with detachable base pieces that would have sat in front of the sweetheart table to maximize impact, because we had every intention of moving the piece until we saw the path.

As for the sweetheart table being bare, there were no sweetheart table florals on your itemized order sheet, so we would not have provided those regardless, yet in your review you post a crying emoji with a photo of a bare table as though I missed a piece in your order, which is not the case.

As for your planner “asking us 3 times for more greens,” that’s pure fiction. When we were leaving for the day, she asked us if we had any extra greenery without any explanation as to what it was for, and we left her with an extra pack of eucalyptus that we had brought. There was no other discussion about the arch fullness or greenery, and it’s not uncommon for us to leave extra stems behind for use elsewhere (e.g., flat lay photography, guest book tables, gift tables, etc), so I had no reason to look into the ask any further.

As for a conversation about wind - your planner had not brought her own materials and asked us for our twine and scissors to secure your signs on the chairs because of high winds blowing them over. I made a casual comment after giving her our materials and agreed that it was very windy, and commiserated that high winds turn florals into sails and I would have loved to use the extra stems we brought but the wind was very heavy. Your arch had already been completed by this point and we were packing up, and at no point did I indicate to her that we were shorting any part of your order.

If there was any foam visible at any point, it would be from said winds, because the enclosed photo also shows that there were no visible mechanics, and we used far more product than we would have with the garland style cover we had settled on when finalizing budget - again, in good faith to create something closer to your daughter’s original vision. For emphasis, that we bring extra floral does not mean that we left with floral that had been paid for. We bring extra stems for all build outs in case a stem snaps or a bloom drops during the installation so that we don’t ever find ourselves short. And when possible, we usually do incorporate every stem we bring to add extra volume. We certainly didn’t leave with product you had paid for.

As for the centerpieces, I never once offered you glassware in the dimensions you quoted in your review - and the review is the first time that I’m seeing any vase heights. You provided me with the inspiration photo used in the mood board to reflect the style of centerpiece you wanted (florals submerged in cylinder trios) and you knew that the photo was just for style, because you even changed the florals in the cylinders several times to accommodate budget. To that end, I offered you use of our rental cylinders, which we not only sent you a photo of, but which you had previously had the opportunity to see first hand in use at another wedding you attended. Your photo was not a photo I provided you as a reflection of our vases (which you knew, because you sent it to us), and you were fully aware that we were discussing the style only. Had you wanted the larger vases, we certainly would have ordered them for you at their price point (for you to keep), but you indicated you wanted to use our rental glassware for budget reasons and as there was no discussion about height at any point, I had no reason to think that you had any other expectations for the vase heights, especially because we referenced the wedding you attended personally with regard to the look of our own rentals - you weren’t relying on photos to gauge the final size, as you had seen them directly placed on tables.

Beyond that, having the taller vases would have done nothing to cover the horizontal space on the tables, which is what you felt looked bare, but you turned down the suggestion of having a halo of greenery or baby’s breath around the cylinders to add more horizontal dimension when it was suggested. So, instead, we provided you with the extra jars, to ensure that you would have 7-9 jars on the tables instead of having only 2 on some of the tables.

You claim we never returned to pick up our rental items, but this is again untrue. We arrived back at the venue at 10:30 pm, as we had previously discussed, and waited to begin collecting our rental items until the guests filtered out of the ballroom, so about 10:50 pm, also as we had previously explained to you. What we found when we returned was that nearly half of our rental glassware was missing (6 short, 5 medium, and 3 tall, out of 11 sets of 3), and 2 others were chipped.

While I’m sorry that you don’t feel we met your expectations, we actually went well above and beyond what a standard floral contract would entail. You got days of free labor to create a favor wall that you’re now blasting me for having created for you on my own time, and with false claims. You’re claiming that we didn’t perform a move you were never billed for, because I told you I needed to be sure we had a path to do so. And because I had other obligations this weekend (another wedding, a corporate event order, and the busiest holiday of the year for florists), and had the nerve to take Monday off to celebrate the holiday with my family, I’m now being called a thief and other names across multiple platforms. Not only is your review unfair and untrue, it’s a reminder of the old adage, “No good deed goes unpunished.”

Julie has bad reviews on yelp and the knot. I wish I had checked before I got into a contract with her. That was my biggest mistake that I will never forgive myself for it turned out to be one of the worst experiences with a vendor. The mood board she contracted with me was completely different from what she actually set up on the day of my daughters wedding. I feel betrayed and robbed of what was suppose to be the most beautiful event ever thrown for my only daughter. I’ll start with the table seating. I was supposed to get a champagne wall instead I got a 3 shelf unit. the labels she printed guest names on were in tiny font, and it was hard to read them. Myselve, and my wedding planner tried reaching Julie bc we couldn’t find the bouquets, flower girl petals or boutonnières she wouldn’t respond. We couldn’t take photos on time bc we couldn’t find the flowers. the arch was to be transferred after the ceremony to the sweetheart table. It was not transferred, and my daughter had a Barenaked sweetheart table. It was so incredibly heartbreaking. All the floral bouquets for the bridal party were falling apart; the hydrangeas looked dead on arrival, and the Grossman boutonnières were also. We finally realized after several phone calls and texts, that she just dumped him on the table and left and didn’t tell anyone where to find them so the timeline for our photos were late, which causes a domino effect for the rest of the timeline. I’m still in tears when I see my photos. Julie also said her and her team will come at the end of the night to break down and retrieve all the centerpieces. She never responded to our calls. I’ve sent so many texts and voicemails, begging and pleading with her to just please help me understand what happened and the only conclusion I can come up with by her, staying silent, and ignoring, is that she planned all along to just take my money and dump everything.

    Things not as they seem

Update: I had a great experience with Paradise Petals at the BEGINNING. I was so pleasantly surprised with how organized, friendly & amazing Julie was. We were in contact nonstop getting ready for my wedding. The flowers arrived in beautiful condition & everything was great on the day of wedding. A few weeks after my wedding is when everything went down hill. I gave Julie & her "coworker" my wedding flowers to preserve and have resin pieces made to have as a wedding memory for my family and I. It has been over 2 months, I've never heard back from her anymore and I'm really upset about it. Not only did I lose my money, but I lost all my wedding flowers that I could have preserved myself and kept forever. So my previous 5 star review has now unfortunately become a 1.

This florist was everything I needed & wanted! They made my dream wedding vision come to life. The first day of contacting Julie, we were on the phone for over an hour discussing what my vision was & sending pictures back and forth of what was achievable. She went above and beyond to get EXACTLY what I wanted. Her communication was a 10/10 and even if I texted late at night because something was on my mind, within minutes I received an answer. Everyone was blown away on my wedding day by how amazing my flowers turned out. I can't say enough good things about Paradise Petals. I'll be using them again for our future events
