Pocahontas StatePark - Swift Creek Dining Hall Reviews

We chose PSP because of the location and incredible price--we were able to rent both banquet halls for 3 full days at a fraction of the cost of similar venues for a few hours. You are responsible for set up, breakdown and cleanup but it was beyond worth the elbow grease to have the day we did! Everything was truly beautiful and there was ample space for everyone to move around and get comfortable. If you're seeking a rustic boho vibe and are up to some DIY decor, I would absolutely recommend Pocahontas State Park!

We rented the Powhatan Banquet Hall both Friday and Saturday. It is a dyers rustic dream. Everything I wanted and more. The only downfall was the rental times 10am until 10pm. We used Friday for decorating and rehearsal and Saturday for the ceremony and reception. We had a DJ and even the music sounded fantastic in the hall. The kitchen is a catering companies dream. It is absolutely perfect and supplied all the tables and chairs that are needed.

We could not have picked a better place for our wedding and reception! It was the perfect weather, perfect setting and suited our lifestyle perfectly. Thank you!

It's a DIYers dream! I rented the space (Powhatan hall, not swift creek) and did the rest myself. We had a couple of issues but they were able to send a ranger out asap to help. We rented the hall Friday-Sunday, had setup and rehearsal there Friday, wedding Saturday then spent Sunday morning cleaning up. The one major flaw is you need to be out of the hall by 10 but as long as you know that then you can alter everything around it. It's a wonderful space and they have all the tables and chairs ready to go. The one big rule is don't nail anything into the wood and that's about it. We had a fabulous rehearsal dinner and wedding here.

We loved this venue because it's simple, beautiful, and affordable. They allow your own vendors, free parking for guests, and it's definitely worth the money spent. We rented the Swift Creek Dining Hall from 10-10. We were able to go look at the place multiple times, called and asked so many questions and they were always nice, and you can have a wedding elsewhere in the park and reception at the dining hall for minimal to no extra charge depending on where you want the ceremony to take place. The only couple downfalls are the cabins that surround it are old and don't have beds (they're for like Boy Scouts), you can't go in early or stay late, and even if no one is using the space the night before you can't set up for a couple hours. I had to decorate the space before the wedding, it was pretty stressful. Otherwise, great place!
