Ridgewood is absolutely stunning! We had multiple people tell us that it was the most beautiful wedding they have ever been to! They worked with us from start to finish and made it an absolutely perfect day!Ridgewood is absolutely stunning! This is the most beautiful venue in the Durango area. The Ridgewood Event Center was the perfect spot for my daughter's ceremony and reception. The staff at Blue Lake Ranch were very accommodating and professional. Joan and Jill were very helpful and worked hard to help make my daughter's vision for her wedding come true. They offered suggestions for other vendors as well (they recommended our caterer who was AWESOME and helped us find buses to transport our guests from Durango to the venue as well.) The day was absolutely wonderful.This is the most beautiful venue in the Durango area. The Ridgewood Event Center was the perfect spot for my daughter's ceremony and reception. The staff at Blue Lake Ranch were very accommodating and professional. Joan and Jill were very helpful and worked hard to help make my daughter's vision for her wedding come true. The Alfords and their staff did an amazing job with our wedding. We invited 75 of our closest friends and family. The ceremony was at the riverside location and the reception was in the event center. The grounds are just heavenly and the perfect place for a romantic, rustic garden wedding. Many of our guests also stayed at Blue Lake Ranch B&B where they were treated to fresh cooked breakfast every morning and the most comfortable beds and rooms every night.The Alfords and their staff did an amazing job with our wedding. I loved the pictures of this place!!! We booked it without seeing it in person, and for the first few months it was a bit hectic planning. We went through 3 different contacts in the year of planning and didn't have things figured out until the Monday before our wedding - at which point we met with the new wedding planner and owner and the meeting settled a lot! After talking to the owner and the new planner and going over the timeline, I felt much better about booking the venue. Its definitely a beautiful location to be married and the pictures are amazing! Having a wedding planner would have helped a ton in easing the stress of not knowing what was happening.I loved the pictures of this place!!! The management is terrible. They are rude and snotty. We booked this venue then changed because the way we were treated and felt uncomfortable. Wedding venue
Our wedding venue was the Ridgewood Event Center at Blue Lake Ranch, which is just outside of Durango, CO. To be short and sweet, it was nothing short of a nightmare to work with them. We ultimately went through 4 wedding coordinators in 8 months, as they would all end up quitting. It took over 4 months from booking the venue to heat back from them when trying to book rooms in their Bed and Breakfast. On top of that, we had horrible service trying to get breakfast that was “included”, and even had employees accidentally come into one of their rental houses at 1am when our guests were staying there. (Not on our wedding night!) The owners proceeded to say it was our fault for not locking the door?
While there, we found out that though we took multiple trips there to finalize details, none of which were “in the system” and many decor/rentals etc were “unavailable”. We also had rented and paid for a rehearsal at the site for the day before, but found out THAT DAY that another wedding had been booked at the same time for months and “oops”.
On top of all the mess, we hired (and paid) two bartenders from them, but only received one. Our tables/chairs etc were not in the same area as we designed and planned that day. (Instead of getting ready, I spent three hours at the venue trying to make it correct).
Finally, as we tried to pack up our decor that night, their employees were taking our decor and putting it away in their decor sheds. We were met with hostility and disrespect when trying to show them how we brought all the decor. They ended up stealing over $500 worth of decor, including all the table runners I had bought, died and cut, our signs, candles, votives, and aisle decor.
All I can say, is please, please do not work with them or use their venue. It was a beautiful space and has so, so much potential, but the staff and owners are not at all worth dealing with. I know that things should go wrong at wedding, as expected, but this was the most nightmare wedding situation I have ever been a part of.

While a stunning venue, the management team is terrible. They are not responsive and make little effort to ensure success for both themselves and their customers. This venue has real potential, but not with the current staff. Get more bang for your buck and look at the beautiful venues surrounding Durango, as you drive closer towards Purgatory.
