We had a post-wedding brunch with extended family the day after our wedding, and we couldn't have been more pleased with the R.L. Wilson House. The food was delicious and the service was great. They were willing to be flexible with the menu when we asked about various options, and the prices were reasonable. They also offered us a great discount on the venue since we ordered our wedding cake through them. I would definitely recommend them to others!

I couldn’t be happier with my choice to go with Heavenly Sweets and the R.L. Wilson House for venue and catering. Planning a wedding from out of state (North Carolina) was stressful, but because I only had to deal with one vendor for all of the above, my stress was minimized considerably.
The house is gorgeous and its inherent character added volumes to the look and feel of the reception. We wanted something small, intimate, and personal, but still elegant; the R.L. Wilson House embodies all those things. The reception itself exceeded my wildest expectations, in part because the staff was professional, courteous, and attentive to all the guests, allowing me to enjoy myself and not worry about details once the day arrived. Because of this, I remember my wedding day in terms of laughter and smiles, family and friends, and not last minute scrambles to find extra seating for surprise guests.
Because the staff is small, they add personal touches you would find with every venue. For example, they catered to a very tiny guest by bringing him out his own slice of cake (he was very much enjoying his mother’s) and, because our server heard me gush about how excited I was for cake, I got an extra piece (it is good to be the bride!). And the cake! Literally the best cake I’ve had in my entire life, and a sentiment I’ve heard echoed from other guests. Considering our cake was very traditional white buttercream/white cake, this is an impressive feat. The dinner was exceptional, too, but I still can’t stop thinking about the cake.
Throughout planning, Tanya listened to the elements of the day that were important to me, and was able to bring everything together as I imagined. Tanya has an eye for detail, a gift with food, and a breathtaking space to which she has devoted tremendous care. I would recommend Heavenly Sweets as a caterer, the RL Wilson House as a venue, and the combination, especially to someone looking to minimize the stress that comes with wedding planning.

I am so proud to be one of the first brides at the R.L. Wilson House! Such a gorgeous venue for an intimate and romantic wedding. The house is absolutely beautiful inside and out, and the grounds are well maintained and covered with beautiful plants and flowers. I had my wedding outside in the front, we got married on the second step of the porch with our guests in nice white chairs on the lawn! The chairs were provided by the RL Wilson (for cost) which made that part of the planning much easier for me. I didn't have to have ANY decorations because the house and grounds were so beautiful! It doesn't get much easier than that. Everyone commented how gorgeous and romantic the ceremony was. I had a cello player and pianist set up on the porch for our music and it was perfect. Tanya, the owner, was very easy to work with and answered any and all questions I had. She would let me pop over any time I wanted to come look.

I loved this beautiful, unique venue and would absolutely recommend to anyone.

I did not have my reception here (though would have LOVED to, the back area for an outdoor reception is perfect!).

If I could give them 6 out of 5 stars, I would! :) You won't be disappointed. Definitely a gem. Whats even better is it new to weddings, so you can be a one of a kind bride!

My wife and I were married here several weeks ago. The house is beautiful inside and out. The owners take amazing care of everything. Our guests really loved the vintage feel of the venue. We obviously had photos taken of the ceremony and the venue looks really fantastic in photos. Overall the venue is really great and affordable for an intimate ceremony.
However, our experience with the owner and staff wasn't welcoming and really stressful as a bride. The owner was very short with us and always seemed too busy to do anything. She just didn't seem interested in helping plan our wedding. She was very concerned about us having alcohol or smoking on the property?? She told us that these items were prohibited in several conversations. We only had the venue for a short time and no alcohol would be served and this is 2015.. How many people smoke??

On the day of our ceremony we were surprised to meet Deb that works at the Wilson House as well. She was so sweet and welcoming. She really put us at ease before the ceremony. I feel like if she were the person we had been in communication with during our whole planning process this would have been a 5 Star rated venue!!
