  A master of his craft

  Let’s start with the photos: thoughtful, crafted, objectively beautiful, awe-inspiring, “the greatest wedding photographs I’ve ever seen” are all statements shared with us by those who have seen our photos. These are understatements. I don’t believe that words can capture the talent and love that Ryan used to craft our wedding day photos into the >600-photo gallery masterpiece that was delivered to us.
  
  We first started coordinating with Ryan nearly 3 years before our wedding. A global pandemic interrupted our short-term plans, and our conversations with Ryan turned into long-term planning. Ryan was incredible throughout this time. We overcame a canceled 2021 wedding with a lovely and casual engagement shoot on the California coast (do this if you are thinking about it). We then waited until we felt the energy to plan a wedding again and settled on a small wedding with family on the Big Sur coast. We worried that Ryan would have forgotten us or otherwise have lost the momentum and interest, but as soon as we got on the phone with him, it was like talking to an old friend who remembered every detail of our shoot and our wants and needs for our wedding day. Ryan’s talents as a photographer aside, he is an incredible asset to your wedding. His deep familiarity with the area ensured our photo planning would be successful (including navigating permits), and his enthusiasm and excitement pushed us through even the darkest days of wedding planning.
  
  On the day, Ryan was a force of nature. Seemingly nowhere but also everywhere all at once. His affable personality put our family at ease and meant that we never had any photos that looked staged. Even in our brief moment of family portraits, he found a unique angle and epic backdrop, producing sensational imagery even with the most mundane of wedding photography tasks. On our private adventure up the coast for our dance and wedding vows, we had a Ryan as a friend with us, giving us direction for how we’d be most likely to photograph well. In every moment of every hour that Ryan joined us, he looked for the next perfect spot for an image, or the perfect pose for the moment, or some tweak to our clothes to squeeze out every possible moment of photo perfection. Ryan has a particular eye for the moody and sometimes spooky vibes of the California coast. We treasure these images in all their raw and dark emotion, alongside his bright and beautiful images of us in all our happiness on the wedding day. He is a master of shadows, or maybe the light that leaks through the shadows and lights up just the right part of the portrait. If you want an artist in their prime to capture your wedding, look no further than Ryan.

  Phenomenal wedding photographer

  Our wedding at Waterfall Lodge was absolutely beautiful and Ryan did an amazing job of photographing all of the beauty. He helped us look gorgeous in photos, have fun during the photoshoot, and he truly captures the beauty of the redwoods like no one else - no matter what the lighting situation is (we had full midday summer sun). Our photos look magical!!
  Most importantly - Ryan was really flexible in giving us a package that exactly fit our needs, so we only had to pay for exactly what we wanted! In the planning process, he really heard what we were looking for and adjust his style to meet our vibes.
  Then, Ryan was very speedy and communicative in sending us his photos afterwards - we had barely returned from our honeymoon when we got our previews and he delivered the full set of photos when he said he would as well. It was a great process to work with Ryan from start to finish and I can't recommend him highly enough.

  Creating Magic!

  I truly could not recommend Ryan more, and will be working with him for any future photography needs! I found Ryan before I even booked a wedding venue, I could tell our visions were aligned and that he would capture the energy. That is an understatement -- Ryan created pure magic with soft and lovely colors and lighting, and made everyone feel so comfortable and easeful. It felt like instant friendship, and the whole process was a joy. Not only did he capture our wedding and family in such a loving and beautiful way, but also our friends! Many of them have changed their social media profiles to portraits he took, and I'm just so grateful for the care, skill, and kindness that went into it all. Can't wait to work together again!

  Carmel wedding

  We will never be able to say enough amazing things about Ryan!!
  Ryan was incredibly from the first day we spoke with him. He really took the time to ask us questions about who we were and what we were looking for with our wedding photos. Ryan has given us some of the most special memories that we will cherish for our entire lives. He made us smile, laugh and feel comfortable even in the most awkward of moments. Our guest had nothing but amazing things to say about him as well. The photos he captured are breathtaking and everything we could have ever dreamed of. Ryan, we can’t thank you enough for capturing our wedding day so brilliantly! You are truly the BEST!

  10/10, highly recommend!!

  Ryan was the absolute best! He made us feel comfortable from the moment we took our engagement photos all the way through the big wedding day. He both knows what he's doing (you need an expert!) and was able to keep us on track without feeling like we were being bossed around. He just struck a perfect balance :). And while approachable and casual in nature, he was also *very* professional at the same time! All that aside, his photos are absolutely gorgeous and he really knows how to use light to craft a beautiful photo that captures the couple. I loved that the photos aren't basic wedding photos either, they're more interesting and creative than other wedding photography I've seen. Highly recommend Ryan as a wedding photographer--absolutely no regrets and would choose him all over again! Thanks again for all your effort, kindness, and support through our process, Ryan :).

  In love with our engagement photos.

  Ryan drove all the way to Sebastopol to do our engagement photos at our home and it was the best decision we could have made. Not only did Ryan manage to make sure the couples shoot thing was not awkward but it was incredibly comfortable and so much fun! We couldn’t be happier with our photos and our only concern now is trying to choose favorites among the literal hundred that we’re in love with!! We just keep remarking on how many of them really “feels like us!” We would choose Ryan a hundred times over!

  Ryan is not only incredible at his craft, but he's a joy to be around.

  We hired Ryan for our wedding in Lake Tahoe and it was one of the easiest decisions. In fact, we actually booked Ryan before we finalized our venue because we were that enamored with his style. We were drawn to Ryan because of his intimate, authentic, style. There was something romantic, natural and artsy that stood out to us. We are so pleased with our photos, but that was to be expected because of his incredible portfolio. The best surprise was when we met Ryan and realized how cool he is.   Beyond Our Wildest Dreams

  There are many things to say about Ryan but I will keep it somewhat short and sweet. Although I haven’t previously worked with a wedding photographer before, I can say that Ryan is top of the line and the best of the best. Ryan not only has a gift in capturing the perfect, beautiful and grand moments but he has an eye for capturing the little details that are easily overlooked but are very meaningful. Not only are the photos impeccable, Ryan as a human is brilliant. He made us feel so comfortable throughout the day. He didn’t feel like an addition to the wedding day but like being around an old friend. He is professional, responsive any time we had questions, thorough, creative, handles time management well, and just all around a super person. There are not enough kind words to describe Ryan and his amazing talent. You will not be disappointed in hiring him. He is very thorough and took into account all our wants and visions we had in capturing our big day and exceeded them times a million. We don’t even have all of our photos yes but the ones he has sent us are going to be treasured through many lifetimes.

  Excellent wedding photographer!

  From first contact with Ryan, he was an absolute dream to work with. Responsive, thoughtful, considerate - and very talented! He was such an easy vendor to coordinate with. Our wedding day had a lot of twists and turns and Ryan was so patient and kind and rolled with it - in the end, everything worked out wonderfully and we got beautiful photos, and I was so thankful to have hired a photographer who was not only talented, but compassionate as well.

  Engagement and Wedding photographer

  Ryan is by far one of the most talented photographers we have ever met. He did both our wedding and engagement photos and absolutely exceeded our expectations. He is extremely hard working and professional while being simultaneously calm and relaxed. We could not be happier with the quality of his work and would recommend him to anyone and everyone!

  An artist, a professional, and an all-around joy

  Ryan was an amazing photographer and an incredible person to work with from our first phone call to our final photo album. He cared about understanding what was important to each of us about our wedding, and captured those moments beautifully.
  
  On the day of the wedding, Ryan brought a lovely energy, brightening the mood around him while never getting in the way or drawing attention away from the ceremonies and festivities. When we met up with Ryan for a day after shoot we were pretty tired, but the hours we had booked with Ryan flew by as he kept us chatting and exploring some jaw-dropping places. It felt like a delightful time with an old friend and it was one of our favorite parts of our whole wedding experience.

  Flawless wedding photos

  My husband and I had a specific style we were looking for, and found several in the Carmel area who fit our vision. While they were all nice and talented, Ryan just stood out to us for a number of reasons. Right away he was genuinely friendly, asking us about ourselves, our wedding and sharing a bit about his life.
  
  We noticed his range of photography includes very intimate and personal moments, which signaled to us his ability to disarm his subjects and also make them feel very comfortable. This was important to us as my husband and I don’t like to be in the spotlight.
  
  Our wedding was the same day as the Big Sur Marathon, which threw a wrench in the arrival of our wedding party and vendors. Ryan went out of his way to get to the area before the road closed, hours before we were scheduled to begin. He even arrived at the bridal changing room early to ensure he wouldn’t miss any big moments, and stayed later than our scheduled time to capture our cake cutting.

  Loved working with Ryan

  We totally love our photos - they capture our day and the people and the vibes so beautifully, and it's a joy to look at them and relive how happy we felt! We also just loved working with Ryan and our conversations leading up to our wedding, and the day of - he is not just a photographer but a wedding adviser in many ways, and so pro-love, and his presence and enthusiasm was so deeply appreciated. We just loved spending time with him and having him as part of our wedding.

  Obsessed with our photos

  We are absolutely obsessed with our wedding photos. I was going through them again today and find new favorites every time I look at them. Our photos are stunning, and Ryan captured the spirit and emotion of the day perfectly. Ryan is very professional and easy to work with – he also made me feel incredibly comfortable when taking our portraits and I didn’t feel overly posed or awkward (which I was worried about because I am not photogenic). We also had a second shooter and the guys all loved working with her (Molly). I never thought I could have so much fun taking pictures. He went above and beyond and delivered a preview of photos quickly – and provided us with way more total photos than we were expecting! And I think one of my favorite things about Ryan is his love and inclusion of all people. I would love to have him photograph us again – and definitely recommend him.

  The best!

  We cannot say enough about how wonderful Ryan is as a photographer and a person! When our wedding location changed last minute due to wildfires Ryan was completely flexible and understanding driving many hours out of his way to photograph our special day. His work is beautiful and he was such a calming presence on a potentially very stressful day. Our backup wedding venue was unconventional but Ryan was able to quickly find picturesque spots and deliver us the wedding photos of our dreams! His photos are cinematic and gorgeous but most importantly really beautifully captured the emotions of the day.

  Exceeded expectations

  We were so happy to have Ryan be apart of our wedding day while of course capturing every amazing moment. From the beginning he was so easy to work with, great communication and so helpful. We had a wedding of around 25 people in Big Sur and I had no idea what I was doing. He got to know us and what we were looking for and he gave great tips on places he knew about, he knows the area well, and was easy going which helped me relax during all the crazy planning. The day of the wedding he was very professional but also got along great with everyone. He kept everyone laughing including us, thank god because we’re so awkward when it comes to photo sessions. He had great spots for photos and had a great balance of edgy/creative shots while still sneaking some of the traditional stuff. He has a great eye for lighting, poses and doesn’t over edit his photos which was something I was having trouble finding when on the hunt for a photographer. We even had a few bumps through out the day and he was kind enough to jump in and help out, and also adapt to our changing schedule. I can’t have anyone mention my wedding, whether they were a guest or not, and not say how amazing my photographer was. Every time we’ve received photos we’re blown away. Thank you for everything Ryan and hope we meet again soon!

  The first thing you need to do when you are done reading this review is to pick up the phone and call Ryan. The search ends here. Ryan is literally DA BOMB. My husband and I (and my parents!) cannot say enough good things about Ryan as a person, his spectacular work and our amazing experience working with him from day 1 all the way to the big day. We love Ryan's work so much that we had 2 engagement shoots. The photos are un-be-lievable. We were so blown away by how beautiful they looked.
  
  Ryan is an extremely talented artist. His stunning photos with unique aesthetic and authenticity are true works of art that we are very lucky to be in. They convey emotions. They capture the moment so perfectly that it makes you feel like you are living through it over and over again every time you look at them. On top of that, Ryan is so kind, easy-going, professional, fun and calm. Just so wonderful to work with. You can be stiff as a board but being around Ryan's incredible energy, you will discover a new self through his creative lenses. Working with Ryan is THE best decision we’ve made in wedding planning.

  Super personable and accommodating

  We came across Ryan in a quick Google search for photographers who had shot at our venue and immediately fell in love with his vibe. We reached out via email and he was super responsive and always available to get on a phone or video call. From the first call he made us feel so comfortable and we felt like we had known him for a while already! He really wanted to get to know us as a couple. We had him photograph both our engagement and our wedding.
  When our venue no longer became available because of Covid, Ryan got back on the call with us right away to explore options and help us talk stuff out. We didn't have a wedding planner or day of coordinator, and Ryan was so helpful in helping us put our day together, making sure we didn't lose focus on the fact that our wedding was our day.
  My husband and I are very awkward and uncomfortable in front of the camera. Ryan helped us just be ourselves and really captured all the joy and beautiful emotions of our special day! He was also so accommodating with our insecurities and helped both of us feel amazing. He's incredibly warm and sincere, and was a great listener when we were panicked with how to plan a wedding in the middle of a pandemic, keeping us grounded and helping us prioritize ourselves. I would get married again just to have him shoot us again, would definitely recommend!

  We discovered Ryan via Instagram and instantly fell in love with his aesthetic and ability to capture a couple's essence. We were anxious and nervous because we had never been photographed. Ryan instantly made those feelings dissipate. He reels you back into the moment with his warm demeanor and inquisitive mind. He is also a movie enthusiast and makes you feel like a protagonist in his film. I can't wait for our next photoshoot!

  Absolutely Stunning!

  Long overdue review!! Hiring Ryan for our wedding was the absolute best decision we made throughout the entire planning process. Not only are his photos incredible, but he was so easy to work with and made us feel so relaxed on such a chaotic day. We are still in awe of his skill, being able to get the exact right moments with perfect lighting and make everyone look like the best versions of themselves, while still feeling so genuine. We also appreciated his approach of guiding certain shots but not making anything too staged, which led to some amazing candid shots. We will cherish our photos for all the years to come and are so happy we chose to trust Ryan as our photographer on this big day.

After COVID threw off our first plans we started thinking about “eloping” (with a few close family members) and through a little googling around found Ryan and instantly fell in love with his work. We’d chatted with a few other photographers but we immediately clicked with Ryan-his vision for a calm, easy going and very intentional day in nature aligned with our own. We were pretty far along in the planning process with tons of help from him with location spotting, timeline creation, and even dress advice when new restrictions forced us to postpone again. I can’t over emphasize how easy it was to work with Ryan during this. We were so stressed out and he repeatedly brought us back to what was important to us (being able to focus on our love and our families joining together on our day) while also being incredibly flexible. He always had little nuggets of wisdom to share with us to center us back to focusing on what mattered and really asked us the right guiding questions to understand fully what we needed. He was also responsible and COVID safe during this time which was important to us as well.
  
  We ended up having an “engagement” shoot with him to commemorate the time while we waited to reschedule our ceremony. We did next to no planning for this-Ryan took care of everything! We had the most amazing adventure day. We got to experience Big Sur as he shared tidbits about what he loved about the area. And we never felt awkward! He is also just a fantastic person and you really get a sense for his kindness and thoughtfulness over the course of a day spent together. He cares for the community he’s a part of and is responsible in caring for the incredible natural space we visited. We came out of our day feeling supported and connected. Ryan is a true artist, and we felt like he really thought about us and what would be best for us, as well as experimenting with new ideas.
  
  Ryan sent us a sneak peak quickly after our shoot and we were blown away, and that feeling just expanded when we got our fully gallery. It’s beyond what we ever imagined. The quality and variety of photos (some portraits, others with movement, many different locations) showcase his photographic talents and passion. There are photos that are absolutely gorgeous and also so many shots that we will hang proudly as art. One thing that stood out to us is that the photographs truly reflect how we felt there-he does an amazing job capturing emotion and we can see our own joy, thoughtfulness, and love reflected. We can’t fully express how deeply grateful we are to Ryan for everything he’s done to make this time special for us through all the obstacles. We will treasure these photographs for our lifetime. If you get the chance to work with Ryan, do it! It will be the best decision you make!
