We contacted Ashlyn and had a cake tasting. We tasted several kinds of cake and icings. We decided to use her without even tasting any other vendors. We did a 3 tier wedding cake and a bunch of different combinations of cupcakes for the groom's cake. Everything was awesome and perfect! Many said it was the best wedding cake they had ever had. It was fantastic! I would recommend, and I will use again for non-wedding confectionery.

Ashlynn is a pro, easy to work with, professional, & her cakes are AMAZING!! We had an initial tasting to decide what we wanted our wedding cake to look & taste like & to decide what size and what type would hold up for an outdoor warm night. The cake was absolutely delicious, gorgeous, & exactly what we wanted! Ashlynn was good about communicating & worked perfectly with our catering group to deliver our cake on time & keep it at the proper temperature, etc. We chose a three layer cake with extra almond butter cream frosting with each tier having a different flavor filling in lieu of a separate groom cake. So I chose bovarian cream in the middle and coconut on top and let my hubby do raspberry for the bottom. We did white starfish and sand dollars with turquoise edible ribbons and a gorgeous silver cake holder (on loan). Highly recommend Ashlynn of Serendipity for quality and affordability!

Ashlyn did a great job with my cake. I showed her a picture that I saw and she replicated so well. I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a unique wedding cake. Thanks again!

AMAZING CAKE. They did the wedding cake and the grooms cake and we received rave reviews all night from the guests! The pre-wedding service they provided was amazing-from the cake tasting to the wedding I was NEVER disappointed!!!!

Simply, my guests in general informed me that our wedding cake was the best they had ever eaten. The taste and consistency was my favorite part of Ashlyn's cake, and the most important part to me, seeing how I enjoy baking cakes myself. We had layers of almond, red velvet and we're saving the top layer of pumpkin for our first anniversary. Ashlyn was also able to make a groom's carrot cake for me very last minute and was extremely flexible with this. My fiance and I met with her in person for the tasting and to agree on the look of the cake which leads me to 3 pieces of advice for brides for cake success: 1) Meet with Ashlyn in person if you can, and taste the cake choices! 2) Bring a color swatch (I did this and she matched my turquoise fabric swatch perfectly 3) Be specific about what you want by bringing a picture and verbalizing what it is you like about it. We would ask Ashlyn to bake another cake for us in a heartbeat!

Everyone said this was the best tasting wedding cake they had ever had! Having said that, the tasting was awkward; Ashlyn didn't offer plates, forks, drinking water - anything. But she came highly recommended so I persevered. Some communication problems in getting my vision across to her. Not the best at creativity or initiative. Had to make some changes even after the cake was delivered to the reception site.

Still I would go though it all again to get her cake! She is a great pastry baker just not as good with people.

I contacted Ashlyn because I had someone tell me how delicious her cakes were. So I met with her and had a cake tasting. All of the cakes were delicious. So I picked my cake and my future husbands cake and signed the contract and paid right there. A week before my wedding I talked with her twice and told her I needed the cakes at my reception site by 2pm. THe wedding coordinator at my reception site needed them there by that time. Ashlyn agreed to have my cakes there by 2pm. My ceremony was at 5:30 pm. The day of my wedding, 15 minutes before I walk down the aisle. I am told my cakes ARE NOT at my reception site. Needless to say I am balling crying and no one can get in touch with Ashlyn. I was a wreck walking down the aisle. Sometime during my ceremony she finally delivered my cakes so they were there when I got there. THe cakes were pretty but my cake was not even the right color I was extremely disappointed with her service. No bride should ever have to go through what I went through. My advice would be go to someone else!!!

    Serendipity Market and Bakery's reply:

Unfortunately we were delayed that day by unforeseen events. A festival had moved locations and with delays caused by construction and the festival, what was normally a 1 hour delivery turned into a 3 hour traffic jam. I called the venue to notify them of the delay but no one answered the phone in the catering department and I was bounced back to the golf pro shop several times and was unable to reach anyone. The wedding cake was setup 40 minutes before the wedding and 1 1/2 hours before the reception. While setting up the cake, I asked the head waitress to notify their catering manager who was acting as the coordinator that I was there and why I was delayed. This was apparently not done. I can't believe that the coordinator did not check with the venue before she told the bride that the cake was not there as it was set up by the time she notified the bride. For the colors, the bride told me the colors were pale pink and champagne; I was not given swatches to match. I chose a light champagne color to complement the pale pink decorations which was not as dark as the bride preferred. If you are particular about your colors, I would suggest showing swatches to all of your vendors; otherwise we will choose complimentary shades. I have apologized to the bride, explained what happened and since then she has referred other brides to me.
