Sojourn is the ultimate destination wedding. The professionalism that starts at your very first tour of the venue, until you leave the day after your wedding, is 5 stars. We had two years to fully plan out all the details of our wedding at Sojourn. In these two years the communication was flawless with Joy. She would quickly respond to any question, and would always have the best advice when needed.

On your wedding weekend you and your guest will feel like they are at a private upper class swanky resort that's only reserved for the best. The grounds are kept immaculate, the rooms are beautiful, and the amenities are endless.

On the day of your wedding the staff will make sure everything is running smoothly and on time. They will have the venue looking top notch and button up any loose ends that you may need help with. Their coordination of the wedding is flawless, keeping guest flowing and the bride and groom on schedule. No fear, Joy is there! Shes working her hardest behind the scenes, when you're getting ready for your big day.

Where do I begin with my review of Sojourn? Our wedding year is about to come to an end, and I can't help but wish we can turn back the clocks and go back to our wedding weekend in Gaylord, Michigan at Sojourn Lakeside Resort. My husband and I got married July 9th 2022. We got engaged on Dec 25th 2020, and in January of 2021 we quickly began searching for our dream venue. Here's what we wanted:

-A northern Michigan destination
-A beautiful property with land, and private from the public and main road.
-A venue where our immediate family and wedding party can stay on site, and relax and party.
-Not a wedding factory (meaning a venue that has a wedding every day and you only get the venue from 10am-10/11pm)
-A venue where we can party till midnight.
-A place where we felt welcomed.
-A venue that included pretty chivalry chairs, tables, and bar area/stands.
- Included a place for bridal party suite to get ready separate from the groomsmen
-A beautiful ceremony location. (On/near water preferably ;) )
-A trusted venue coordinator (Shout out to JOY! She killed it.)
-Ultimately a venue where we can have the best weekend of our lives

My husband and I can't express our gratitude and happiness for Sojourn, and the amazing experience we had there with our friends and family. From the first time meeting Joy and getting the tour of the venue, and throughout the whole wedding process, Sojourn did not let us down. We actually live 3 hours from Gaylord, and several times my mom and I ventured up there to check on things, and take measurements and Joy had no problem with this! She was so gracious, and calmed my bride nerves letting me visit several times. She also never seemed irritated by phone calls or emails regarding questions. In fact, she welcomed them and always seemed happy to help in any way.

The wedding weekend was a blast! Most of our wedding party lived out of state, and they could not get over how awesome our venue was! It was one big party from the time everyone arrive on Thursday-Sunday morning. We even had Friday be a whole day of games and relays before the rehearsal/rehearsal dinner. It was called "BRIDE VS GROOM" and it was hysterical. The wedding day was great because the girls and I got to chill and get ready in the welcome center while the groomsmen hanged back by the lake with their dates, and our families on site. Then they got ready in their rooms and met up in the hospitality suite. The Wedding ceremony was at 4:30pm and we could not have asked for more perfect weather! Truly everything about our wedding was great. The Reception space also has a stage, and really add that extra wow for our band. We had a 150 person wedding (this includes wedding party and us) and that just fit perfectly in the reception space. I think any more would have been tight, but worked great for us! Plus I always wanted a kings table for the wedding party and my groom, and I got it! It looked great!

Our guests kept saying "how did you find this place?"-We are so thankful we did. Sojourn is everything I listed of our dream venue, and more. Thank you Sojourn for being such a wonderful place. You made our wedding everything we hoped for.

We had the pleasure of hosting our family and friends for our wedding at Sojourn Lakeside Resort this weekend. I couldn’t imagine having our big day at any other venue. From the very beginning of our search, Joy was available for any questions we had. It was difficult to make it up north, so she sent all the videos and pictures they had. When we finally met in person, we knew the weekend would go smoothly. Joy made it known that she was there for us and wanted us to have the most stress free time, and that’s exactly what we got this weekend! The resort was so neat and clean and stocked with enough linens and ice for the whole weekend. We met Rob at the rehearsal and he immediately made us feel at ease. He was there for anything we needed for the rehearsal and for wedding day. Our vision for our wedding was to have all of our favorite people together for a fun and laid back weekend. I have never felt more love and happiness, and our guests couldn’t stop raving about the venue and Joy and Rob. It was fun to have control over the vendors and decorations, but Joy gave an extensive list of recommendations for vendors. I will praise and recommend this venue forever!!

You have 0 regret choosing Sojourn! Being at the venue from Thursday through Sunday with our family and friends was absolutely wonderful. Weather was perfect, the resort had everything we needed, and our guests enjoyed themselves. Completely worth every penny.

We celebrated our 25th anniversary and renew our wedding vows in a traditional Indian style celebration. Each moment of this event left us with wow memories. The property manager Joy and her staff went above and beyond to make this experience memorable. The place itself has positive vibes and Joy helps to reduce every stress comes in your way with amazing professionalism and friendly service.

My daughters wedding was last Labor Day and it was stunning! The venue and the staff were nothing short of spectacular. Joy has been helping us plan for 17 months and was gracious, helpful and professional from beginning to end, I cannot say enough about how hard Chelsea and Lance worked to make everything perfect! It was a long weekend, with many moving parts and as a friend said “ we left no stone unturned”. This would not have been possible for us without the help of my new friends at Sojourn!!❤️

This place was perfect to celebrate with family and friends for a whole weekend! We could not have picked a better place to have our wedding. The staff let us have a good time but was there everyone we needed them. Would love to go back in a few years for a family reunion.

What a breathtaking property! The rooms, amenities, manager were unreal! I felt like I was in a fairy-tale! What bride doesn't want to have that feeling on their wedding day! Truely this place was timeless and priceless. The natural surroundings helped everyone feel less stress and more relaxing!
