  Spring Lake: The Wedding Venue of Our Dreams

  We are so thrilled to have had our wedding at Spring Lake at The Meadows Center for Water & the Environment!!! It was the most beautiful venue imaginable. We had our ceremony on the beautiful lawn, looking out onto Spring Lake. Then, for cocktail hour, we rented glass-bottom boats and our guests took tours of the lake. We had our reception on the roof. What a unique and wonderful place for a wedding! No wonder it is the longest continuously inhabited site in North America! Miranda was helpful and flexible as we planned, making her staff available for our needs and letting us use her tables. The San Marcos River is such a special place and the Meadows Center is the perfect spot to enjoy it. We love the history (it used to be a resort with mermaid shows and a diving pig), the natural beauty, and couldn't think of a better place to get married! Thanks so much to Miranda and everyone else! We had the night of our lives!!!

  This was so simple and beautiful to have our wedding ceremony right over looking the river. The roof top was incredible fun and spacious. Miranda was also very patient and helpful throughout the planning process. However, the venue does not provide any items

  We held our wedding ceremony and dinner at Spring Lake in San Marcos. As one of the longest continuously inhabited sites in all of North America, it wan an honor to add our celebration to the shores of the Sacred Springs that have flowed there for millions of years.
  
  The unmatched natural beauty of Spring Lake was the perfect back drop to our ceremony on the water's edge at Sycamore Point. We rented the pretty white chairs for seating down there. One thing I would note about that site is that the walk from our ceremony to the dinner on the roof of the Meadows Center was a bit long for our elderly guests. We decided to hire a pedi-cab for a couple hours to shuttle folks around the park before and after the ceremony. I highly recommend this, or a golf cart, if you plan your ceremony for Sycamore Point.
  
  We rented out the glass-bottom boats for our guests, which made for a truly unique and memorable cocktail hour before dinner on the rooftop of the historic hotel (now the Meadows Center for Water and the Environment). They even let us use their tables and 50 chairs! (We did have to rent some extras for our large group). The staff was great and there was ample parking for our guests.
  
  As Bobcat Alumni, river-rats, and stewards of the planet, my husband and I couldn't be more thrilled to have shared this natural treasure with all the people we love. Thank you Spring Lake for such a perfect experience!

  Firstly, let me say that the Meadows Center and Spring Lake is absolutely beautiful. Both my husband and I are alumni at Texas State and we of course wanted to have our ceremony somewhere where the beautiful San Marcos River would be a backdrop. The Meadows Center was perfect for this. When we contacted them and came down to see the facility, they were extremely flexible and professional. They explained each location in great detail and were proud to show us each location. They even offered up a new location, Sycamore Point (which is water-side), which isn't offered on their website. They also welcomed the idea of our dog being the ring-bearer. As long as he was on a leash of course.
  
  As the wedding day got closer, thunderstorms in the forecast threatened to halt all festivities, but the Meadows Center was on it. They handled our panicked phone calls with ease and were quick to call us back with contingency plans. They had no problems at all with moving the reception indoors at the last minute and the hubby and I didn't have to worry about a thing. They coordinated with us on everything and coordinated with the caterer to make sure everything went off without a hitch. A stress free wedding is what we wished for and that's what we got.
  
  I can't say enough how much we loved having the Meadows Center as our venue and I can't wait for the pictures to come back. We highly recommend them for anyone interested in an outdoor ceremony at good prices.
