    The perfect venue for us!

We had the most amazing wedding reception at the museum after a beautiful ceremony in South Straub Park. Lindsay was so sweet to work with and she worked with our day-of coordinator to ensure we had the MOST PERFECT day, better than I could have ever imagined!

We rented the full museum and had a scavenger hunt during cocktail hour, which our guests loved! The Flight One Gallery was perfect and I was so happy with how it all came out. We met in St. Pete and LOVE living here, so we were so happy to be able to embrace that with our wedding venue and the theme of our wedding. So many guests complimented how authentic our wedding felt, and I think that was because we chose such a wonderful (and totally under-utilized) venue.

We hadn't been able to see a lot of reviews of the museum after the Pier opened but it is great! We had originally been disappointed that we couldn't get married right there (the parking lot has taken over the grassy area they used to have), but there are so many options nearby with the pier and the nearby parks.

I truly cannot say enough about how great our wedding was! We also appreciated all the vendor recommendations - they were all fantastic. Thank you so much, Lindsay!

We just had our wedding at the Museum of History and I can't say enough what a wonderful experience it was. Planning a wedding is super stressful but the staff at the museum helped make the process as seamless as possible. Caitlin was wonderful to work with up until the very end. The wedding went off without a hitch and my guests had a wonderful time. Thank you all so much for helping make our day so special!

St. Petersburg Museum of History's reply:

Melissa, thank you so much for the kind words. Our job is easy when you host great people and their guests. :)

Best wishes on your wonderful journey together!

After visiting almost every venue in St. Petersburg, we were thrilled to find the Museum of History. The museum is centrally located on the water with a backdrop of downtown St. Petersburg. It has been recently renovated to include gorgeous hardwood floors. We were able to rent out the entire museum, with the cocktail hour in the exhibit room and the reception in the flight gallery (featuring a full scale replica of the first commercial flight in the United States). We installed up-lighting and the entire venue, with its beautiful floor to ceiling windows, shone. The wedding coordinator for the museum was Caitlin, who was an absolute dream. She handled every detail with grace and ease, and was friendly and enthusiastic throughout the process. Many of the guests complimented us on our choice of venue. I highly recommend the Museum of History to any bride looking for a stunning, unique, and affordable reception.

The St. Petersburg Museum of History was a fantastic venue choice for our wedding. The staff, including Rui and Caitlin, were super helpful throughout our wedding planning process, providing a boat load of information and hands-on assistance – including much-needed support during our actual ceremony and reception. This is not to mention the museum’s unique décor, which got rave reviews from our guests (including the waterfront ceremony and dazzling, glass reception hall). We highly recommend this venue.

I am so glad I chose this venue to have my wedding and reception. It was a good price and we were able to have our ceremony, cocktail hour through out the whole museum and reception here. It was beautiful and went well with my "old Florida" theme! My guests enjoyed being on the water and browsing through the museum. I absolutely loved this venue!

We had our wedding at the Museum of History on October 22. We had the wedding ceremony indoors in their flight gallery , the cocktail hour thru the exhibits and the reception in the flight gallery. it was amazing. The staff is so easy to work with, the price is reasonable and the location is so perfect. My guests loved the venue. I could not have asked for a more perfect venue for our day!

I can't say enough about this venue. The staff were always accommodating in every way. The venue is so unique and absolutely beautiful,; the waterfront is one of a kind. We had both the ceremony and reception here. All of our guests raved about how beautiful this place was and how unique it was to be married in a museum. My wedding was the best day of my life and I attribute that to the beautiful venue in the Fantastic staff at the Museum.

The SPMOH was the perfect venue for our wedding. We were fortunate enough to have gorgeous weather on our wedding day and held our ceremony behind the museum, overlooking the Vinoy and sailing basin. James and the staff at the Museum were extremely helpful and worked excellently with our day-of planners and other contracted services. Though we won't be repeat wedding customers, we'll certainly think of the SPMOH as a venue for other celebrations and will highly recommend the site to our friends.

James made himself available easily through email, always responding quickly to questions and concerns. He coordinated dress rehearsal and the day of the wedding to where we didn't have to stress about it. James listened to what we wanted and was able to execute everything beautifully. Unfortunately it rained the day of the wedding so we were unable to have the ceremony on the lawn but James set up the alter inside and it worked out perfectly! The reception room (flight room) was the perfect size for the guests, buffet, dance floor, and DJ! I would not have changed a thing! Great experience.

We held our wedding here last month, and it was perfect. It is very reasonably priced, beautiful (you really have to go see it if you haven't been there). James & the staff are great and everything ran so smoothly. I wanted something a little different than your typical ballroom wedding without being too off-beat or hard to coordinate and this place fit the bill perfectly. The venue made for some great photos and our guests loved it too.

My mother and I searched all over the Tampa Bay Area for an event venue for my graduation party and came up empty. We decided to move our search out and found the St. Pete History Museum. As soon as we drove up we already were impressed with the location. It is located right on the water across from the Vinoy in the heart of downtown St. Pete. When we walked inside we knew that our 1940's 1950's travel themed graduation party would be right at home in this museum. We were able to have our appetizer hour throughout the whole exhibit and the guests loved being able to take pictures in front of all the exhibits. We had the dinner underneath the original plane that flew from Tampa to St. Pete and the room was completely walled with windows. It gave the whole affair a great ambience but we also had plenty of room for people to walk around and visit. Everything went off without a hitch and I have to say most of that had to be attributed to our even coordinator James. He truly made it an amazing experience that none of us will ever forget.

James and the museum staff are great to work with. The room where they hold receptions is beautiful with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the bay. Our guests really enjoyed visiting the museum exhibit during the cocktail hour and several people mentioned to me how unique they felt the venue was. There is no better value in downtown St. Petersburg.

The Museum of History was the perfect place for our ceremony/reception. Our ceremony was held just outside the museum along the water. The reception site was very unique. Our guests were able to walk around the museum during the appetizers. James did a wonderful job answering our questions in a timely manner and keeping the bridal party up to speed and calm the day of. He was very flexible and professional. I would recommend the museum to anyone looking for an affordable and unique venue in downtown St. Pete.

I've now written this review 3 times. SPMOH is a spectacular place to have a wedding and reception. From the event coordinator, James Parrish, down to the phenomenal waterfront setting, my wedding was awesome. The facility is great for caterers with a full kitchen and staging area, the event space has huge windows that take advantage of the beautiful waterfront setting and marina. I can't say enough good things about this place. However, for whatever reason, this venue doesn't come up when you search for it which is a shame because it's highly affordable.

I loved my reception venue for so many reasons. First, it is right on the water in the heart of downtown St. Petersburg, FL. Second, it is distinctly St. Petersburg because it is a museum of the local history, and all of my guests were free to roam throughout the exhibits during the entirety of the reception. Third, James is a wonderful event coordinator. His responses to questions were always prompt and complete. He was available throughout the reception to handle any concerns or questions; however, I was having too much fun to have many concerns or questions. The museum also provides for on-site ceremonies in addition to receptions. All necessary tables and chairs are provided by the museum at no additional cost.

As a native of St. Petersburg, I wanted to choose a wedding venue with connections to the city in which I grew up in. After visiting the St. Pete Museum of History, I knew this would be the perfect location for our wedding.

The ceremony space, behind the museum, is one of the hidden gems of wedding venues. It is right on the Tampa Bay, with sights of the Vinoy in the background. The location cannot be beat, as it is so close to the bustling blocks of downtown. The space is quiet yet energetic, and was absolutely perfect for our outside ceremony.

We had the reception inside, which gave the charm I was looking for with the Benoit airplane above the dance floor. Our guests were given access to the entire museum and while my new husband and I took photos outside, they were able to enjoy a cocktail hour while exploring the museum.

Working with Caitlin was a delight. There is absolutely no need for a day-of-coordinator if she is on your team. She was incredibly generous in allowing my husband and I stop by any time we had a question or wanted to see the space again.
If you’re looking for a wedding venue that combines old St. Pete quirk with new St. Pete location, the Museum is the perfect spot for you.

James and the Museum of History were both a pleasure to work with.

James presented plenty of options for the use of his facility and space and even when we requested a few non-traditional ideas, he was very open to accommodating. We very much felt like he allowed us to put our own spin on our wedding and his space and location only enhanced our vision.

James also went above and beyond in terms of flexibility. He coordinated the set up, the arrival of our friends and family, and promptly fielded our questions as they arose. Overall, he was professional and relaxed which allowed us to be ourselves and thoroughly enjoy our wedding-what more could you ask for?

The beauty and view of the Museum of History was our initial selling point, but the service, flexibility, and follow through were the three reasons that we would recommend James and this facility for others.
