I am going to start with the positive. As I planned this wedding almost entirely on my own, having someone else coordinate the ordering of my bridal party’s dresses was great, especially since 4/6 are out of state. Their dresses were ordered, came in, and were shipped out in a very timely manner, and my experience with that aspect of SB was good, especially since the dress I picked was discontinued, and they had to order earlier than expected.
That said, my matron of honor and her daughter, who was one of my bridesmaids, were the only ones who were actually sized at SB, and their dresses were completely ill-fitting, to the point that they had to have $200 in alterations each, more than the cost of the dresses themselves. The fact that the daughter’s dress was too small was particularly alarming, as it is much easier to take a dress in than out. When the dress came in and I heard that the dress was too small, I promptly called SB, understandably worried. I was told, rather dismissively, that they’d been measured correctly and that there was at least a size worth of material in the seams, just in case. I saw the dress before the alterations were made, and agreed with the assessment that there was no way there was enough fabric to easily re-size and alter the dress so it would fit.
In addition to the fact that not only were the people who were actually measured at SB sized wrong, and the subsequent dismissive and uncaring attitude of the staff when I called with the issues, my matron of honor had a few poor interactions with them, relating both to the above issue and the fact that, although she was allowed to partially delay payment, due to the combination of the facts that she had to pay for two and the significantly bumped up order and payment deadline, she was contacted by both e-mail and voicemail demanding payment very shortly after the dresses arrived. I understand that businesses need to collect their money, but the way this was handled was unfortunate.

    Bad news bears

Weddings and family gathering alike are beautiful moments and have the potential to be financial discomforts and stressful unforeseen scenarios. It would be assumed that people and places of business that work in close proximity of brides and wedding parties would evolved and enlightened enough to recognize and avoid the many nuances and challenges that may arise in wedding planning rather than being apart of the trauma and chaos. It almost feels as is Studio Bridal in Rochester went out of their way to avoid any opportunity to convenience or destress the bride.

The customer service and transparency following our initial fitting/visit on 2/18 was abysmal at best. Per the designer’s website, the price of our dresses dropped drastically. On March 1, 2023, the price of the bridesmaids’ dresses decreased $85/dress on four (4) dresses and the price for the Maid/Matron Honor dress decreased $64/dress on two (2) dresses. Additionally, they add a service charge to the price of each dress, which is not mentioned anywhere in their contracts. The flower girls’ dresses were $124.50 per the designer’s website. Plus a 6% sales tax, the total amount would have been $131.97 and I was charged approximately $146 ($145 + change) for the dress. They’re adding an additional (approx.) 10% service fee charge to the cost of each dress.

IN SHORT the shop appearing to have known went out of their way to press for order to be maid in an attempt to avoid the price drop when potential patrons like ourselves attempted to finalize the order on march 2nd.
This is not only an unusual business practice, but misleading and discouraging when paired with unclear and unexpected
service fees. It is our hope that this has not happened to others at the same time (but it
Raises the question of why not and I hope
We weren’t preyed on), but in the event that it did we can come together to be fairly charged.

If any bride to be would like some more damming information, do message me and I will be more than happy to show the time stamps, and proof of transaction.

    Worst customer service

Bought a $300 beaded dress for wedding from studio bridesmaid. Day of the wedding beading all along the neck line fell off when I got dressed. Called and studio bridesmaid told me that since I hemmed the dress (where the beads had not fallen off) there was nothing they can do.

    Avoid at all costs

AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS.

I made the mistake of ordering my bridesmaids dresses from this store. When we had our first consultation, their staff advised us that we should order the dresses by the end of February for a wedding in September (or else they might not be here in time for the wedding). The girls all called in with their measurements, but I took some time to decide on the color. I decided to wait to finalize the order until the first week of March as a result. So, the girls had paid for their dresses, but the dress order had not yet been placed with the designer.

Up until this point, the store staff had been advising me to wait to order the dresses for the flower girls until closer to the wedding, stating that they did not take as long to make. I even asked them if they were sure about this, and let them know that the designers website showed that it took just as long for the flower girls’ dresses to arrive as it did for the bridesmaids dresses. They assured me that this would be fine.

On March 1st, the price of the dresses that I had purchased (in an order that had not yet been placed with the designer) dropped drastically. When I called to finalize the order on March 2, 2023, the same staff that had reassured me multiple times that we could wait on the flower girls’ dresses notified me that the flower girls’ dresses would take just as long to come into the office as the bridesmaids dresses and if I had any expectation of them being the same color, they would all need to be ordered together. As a result, I had to rush to get the flower girls’ into the office the very next day for measurements.

The flower girls get fitted, we pay for their dresses, and we leave the store. I called the store after we left to inquire about a price adjustment due to the drastic decrease in the base price of the dress per the designers website. This is before the order was actually placed with the designer. They declined to make the price adjustment. The store hours were 12p-4p. At 10:30p (drastically outside of their posted business hours), I get an e-mail from the owner, saying that the order has been placed and the expected ship date is early June (nowhere near being in any danger of default for a September wedding). Additionally, they are essentially showing a three-month production period and if I had ordered direct from the designer’s website, they show an estimated production period of six (6) weeks. I e-mail back immediately regarding the price adjustment and received no immediate answer. The contract that we signed for the dresses said that they were non-refundable after the order had been placed with the designer, so the fact that they rushed to place the order outside of normal business hours after I inquired about a price adjustment is no surprise.

The next day, I called the shop and requested a call back from the owner, which I never received. She e-mailed me back much later in the day, refusing the price adjustment. I e-mailed her back thoroughly explaining that all of this appeared to be intentional and appeared to be quite dishonest. She e-mailed me back in great detail, essentially explaining that it’s the customers responsibility to protect themselves in commercial transactions and their store otherwise has the right to mistreat them. Her message was that if the customer doesn’t attempt to price match at the point of sale, they’re not entitled to any price adjustments, which is absolutely ridiculous and not standard practice for any retailer I’ve ever frequented before.

Long story short, it would appear that they knew about the price adjustments scheduled to take place at the end of February. They intentionally railroaded us into paying much higher prices for the same dresses, even going so far as to potentially lie to us about the flower girls’ dresses not needing to be ordered soon in an attempt to get us to place the whole order by the end of February. Once the calendar changed to March 1, 2023, everything that they had been telling us about the flower girls’ dresses changed. They refused the price adjustment and rushed to place the order outside of normal business hours so that it was no longer cancellable per their policy.

Using this store will cost you, literally. It cost us an estimated $470.00 in the base price of the dresses, plus an additional approx. $120 in service charges that they tacked onto the price of the dresses. Grand Total: An approximate $590.00 loss.

I had one dress for the bridesmaids and a different dress for the Maid and Matron of honor.

Their business model, staff, and owner all appear to be extraordinarily dishonest. Why not charge an appointment fee for the consultation instead of baking additional 10% service charge into the costs of already wildly overpriced dresses? The more honest business practice would be to charge $15/person for those in attendance at the fitting and price match the dresses to the designer’s website. When I e-mailed the owner explaining all of this, she e-mailed me back with blatant falsehoods (lies) that she claims her staff told her about the situation.

I picked up all the dresses for my bridesmaids, and despite the situation outlined above, the attendant who helped us for all our fitting appointments (and there were multiple due to the circumstances) pretended not to know who I was. They gave us the merchandise, and my name was spelled incorrectly across the front of each bridesmaid dress, with the name of each bridesmaid directly underneath. There was also a note attached to each dress stating that the store essentially takes no responsibility for the quality of the dress, including, but not limited to: fabric snags, loose buttons and straps coming undone. It says that these problems can be fixed with a “needle and thread.” I’m sure that it’s every girl’s wildest dream to pay $200 + dollars for a dress that they will later be told they may need to sew by hand and not to complain about it. This place is a literal nightmare.

Save yourself time, money, and a terrible experience by ordering direct from the designer.

This is not the experience that any bride wants or deserves leading up to her wedding.

I wouldn’t wish them on my worst enemy on their worst day.

    BUYER BEWARE.

    Do not go here!

The worst customer service I’ve ever had. If I could give them zero stars I absolutely would. The owner Catherine is so unprofessional I don’t know how she still is in business. She never submitted mine and another bridesmaid’s orders. Then tried to lie to us and the bride about it. She actually was trying to get me to call the other bridesmaid and bride to tell them like it was my job. She ended up having to show the bride the email that shows she made the mistake after lying about. She then told all 3 of us to go to her preferred seamstress and said she would cover the cost since it was all her mistake. Now is lying again and refusing to cover any of the costs. Save yourself A LOT of money and the worry of not having your dress done on time if at all and go somewhere else. This place is so not worth all the lies and extra costs plus the owner was a HUGE B****
