My husband and I had our wedding reception at the Sugar Land Marriott and we are SO HAPPY we did! We both grew up in Sugar Land and wanted to get married there, but there are not a lot of venues that 1. can accommodate 300 people 2. are stunning. We have a lot of out of town guests and knew that a hotel ballroom would fit our needs the best. After visiting several hotels in Sugar Land and Houston, picking the Marriott was an easy choice because it's not an ordinary hotel ballroom. It is gorgeous, has beautiful chandeliers and lighting on the walls, the food was delicious, and Gladys was able to work with us to have the wedding of our dreams!!

the reception was wonderful. i didn't know whether the table, linens, chairs, food, and centerpieces i picked out would mesh well together but just let me tell you the room looked awesome and it all came together very well.

The venue was gorgeous. Gladys was great to work with. They were really great with trying to accommodate everything for us. I should have been more clear about the favors left on the tables, because the staff did start to toss them out until a member of my family asked not to throw them out. Also, the staff had also started to pick plates of food up as people were still eating. Otherwise, the venue was a hit, and Gladys was such a pleasure to work with.

It was great working with the Sugar Land Marriott. Their team is extremely knowledgeable about Indian weddings and they were very accommodating through the planning process and the day of the event.

My daughters wedding was this weekend and I have to say everything was perfect with the exception of the Venue we picked.

The Marriott has beautiful rooms and the location is perfect. The problem is that if you don't plan on having 1,000+ people at your reception you will not get the service you expected. Let me explain. There were two other weddings the night of my daughters (larger) and not much went right. We could not get to our ballroom without going through 100+ people in the foyer (this also rang true with trying to get to the bathroom), the cocktail hour was not set up as expected, the room was not set up as expected, they forgot to put the cake on a cake stand, our guest waited 45 minute for the food because the Marriott's wedding planner forgot to give the catering staff the table seating WITH THE FOOD ORDERS! They did not set up the bar as I asked, they ran out of the beer the groomsmen were drinking within the first hour.

Needless to say, I did not eat as we (me and the 2 Wedding Planners that I PERSONALLY hired) had to sort out all the things that the Marriott's staff did not do, but promised.

The thing that made me the most upset is that when I went that evening to speak to the Marriott's wedding planner that had made all the promises which were not delivered, she actually looked at me like I was an idiot... like it was the first time she had heard anything that I was saying... and she just walked away.

It was obvious that there were more important events happening that evening than my daughters wedding. So if you want not to worry about the venue you pick for any event, this is not the place.
