The Bay View Restaurant is a beautiful place. I had my wedding there and couldn't be happier. The views are amazing, their staff is so accommodating and their food is fantastic. Kristina the catering manager was so very helpful with the planning and organizing the timeline and different parts of my wedding. I was planning my wedding from across country so it was difficult working with all of my vendors. I put quite a few calls into Kristina with different questions and requests and she was always very responsive and made everything happen just the way I wanted it to. It was such a special night. I was so happy we were able to get married at such a beautiful place. Thank You Bay View Restaurant!! What a great place to start a life with the love of my life! :)

GORGEOUS venue or a fraction of the cost!
Get married outside in a grassy area next to the water and have the reception in the same location in a ballroom with hardwood floors.
We paid $35 per person for a buffet style dinner and let me just tell you, our guests raved about the food! Because it's a military base, there is no sales tax and the gratuity is only 19% (as compared to 22% at some resorts.)
Susan, the catering manager was a joy every time I met with her and at times I even dropped in unexpected. She recommended vendors, many of which offered a military discount.
Because the venue was so inexpensive, I had money in my budget for other things such a butterfly release, antique car rental, lavish floral arrangements, etc. I also paid a little extra to have vendors bring ceremony chairs and table cloths because MCRD's were not the best, but it was never an issue to have so many outside vendors.
Based on my guests reviews, I highly recommend this venue!

(you do not have to be IN the military to use this venue)

I chose to get married at the Bay View (on MCRD grounds) because it mixed look of water without having to have a beach type wedding. And since my wedding was at the end of July it was important to me that my guests along with my bridal party did not bake in the heat. The Bay View was able to offer us a peferct background. Along with great food. The staff was not all pleasent to deal with, and I felt could have offered more assistance in some of the orgainizing. But all in all my wedding was perfect!

We chose this venue for our ceremony and reception because of the beautiful views. They are able to accommodate our wedding with over 100 guests in their gorgeous ballroom. The ballroom is sort of Spanish style with tall ceilings and beautiful tile work and wood floors. No extra dance floor needed! They are a bit difficult to keep in contact with....as they don't seem to answer their phone and take a while to get back to us on some questions....but overall, I can't wait!

My new husband and I worked with Susan Kieras at MCRD's The Bayview Restaurant for our wedding reception. Susan was very responsive when it came to our e-mails about our reception. However, when we showed up in person, she was very distracted and disorganized. We spent hours at the restaurant just waiting for her to answer our questions and talk to our florist. She never really wanted to talk to the florist and acted too busy for us even though we had scheduled an appointment with her in advance.

While up front, having our reception there looked like a good deal (no tax, no cake cutting charge, no linens charge, etc.), in the end we regretted it because my new husband got deathly ill and so did a number (25 out of 70) of our guests. The SD County Health Admin. was called and they arrived at the conclusion that it was the norovirus which had spread amongst my husband and our guests. My mother confronted Ralph, the restaurant manager, but he denied any wrongdoing (and would not reimburse and of the charges), and so did the military.

We recently had our wedding at The Bay View Restaurant in May 2014. To say the least, it was an interesting experience. First, we worked with a woman who seemed to know her “stuff,” but wasn’t very customer services orientated. We were then passed onto another woman who was very friendly, but not reliable and consistent. We were then passed on to the head manager, Ralph Alessandro. To start with, the venue is beautiful and the price is right. The ceremony location is right on the water and is perfect. Planes do fly over occasionally, but it’s not that big of a hassle. The scenery is worth the mild disturbance. The ballroom is fantastic. It is very rich in décor and adds a lot of character to the reception which can only be enhanced and added to with special linens, chairs, flowers, and candles. Now to get to the point – our ceremony was scheduled for 5pm. The Bay View irresponsibly scheduled another wedding at 4:30pm that was right next to us. Like you could literally throw a pebble and hit them. Really? Come on. To top that off, the other wedding was running 30+ minutes late which obviously made us late! Due to us being pushed back because the lack of organization and consideration of this other wedding, not only were we running over 30 minutes late, but we were unable to take ANY family pictures at The Bay View after the ceremony due to our timeline. I’m angry to say the least. Another thing that happened due to us running late is that our outside bar ran out of beer and Ralph didn’t want to stock anymore beer in the outside bar! Unacceptable. The guest is always right and if they want beer, they will get a beer. My Mother had to hunt him down and tell him to restock the beer. Also, since we were running late, our food sat around longer waiting to be served. We had the steak kabobs and due to them sitting around longer, the meat stuck to the stick.
